Chapter 156: PRISON BREAK
The rest of the wwwk passed by quickly and it was finally the day that Felicia and her crew and planned to escape from the prison.
Every inmate has been instructed to do what should be done for the celebration that was soon to commence. With her heavy pregnancy, Felicia tried as much as possible to complete the tasks that she had been assigned to. Despite not wanting to express her happiness, she couldn’t keep herself from smiling from time to time.
"Why is she smiling like a fool?" one inmate whispered to another.
"Probable because today is the day that we can all eat to our fill," another responded. Since the celebration wasn’t too grand nor too small, there would be enough food for even the inmates to share. And it will be very tasty for them.
Madam Laura helped her to do some work as she tried to complete hers as well which confused the inmates and the wardens.
They had loads of questions in their mind that they wanted to ask but couldn’t open their mouths to speak. The lackeys who always stayed by her side were also surprised at the sudden treatment. They weren’t pleased. She had never assisted them with anything before but suddenly changed her attitude because of this Felicia.
Since it was the day for the anniversary of the prison, the day that Felicia, Mary, and Madam Laura would escape from there, which no one else knew of except for Tobias, their hearts gleamed with happiness and had decided to be obedient.
As they completed their tasks such as decorating the environments, cooking food, and cleaning up the place since important guests would be arriving and rehearsing for a performance, the expected runaways studied the movements of people. Monitored who came into the prison from the gate that had been heavily guarded by the security team. Guests who wore fancy dresses took seats in front of the rehearsing inmates and clapped their hands for them now and then.
Madam Laura excused herself from the kitchen she had been assigned to by the warden to go to the restroom. Taking the left path that didn’t lead to the restroom, Madam Laura entered the prison which had been decorated by the inmates.
Everyone was busy due to the celebration which was a perfect day for them to escape.
Madam Laura stood at the end of the stairs that led to another floor and waited for the person she was waiting for to come out.
When the other inmates spotted her, they didn’t bother to ask her questions. They simply avoided her and continued with their tasks.
Madam Laura stood at her spot and observed everyone until she saw the warden that she had been waiting for, coming out from an office.
Smiling, Madam Laura started walking towards the warden with heads bowed low until she collided with the warden who nearly fell due to the impact.
"Oh, I’m so sorry", the old hag apologized as she helped the warden sit up.
"It’s okay", said the warden as she organized her uniform before asking, "What are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with the inmates who are cooking downstairs?"
"I am", she replied. "A warden sent me on an errand, that’s why i’m here".
The warden stared at her with suspicious eyes as she sized her up, examining her before she hummed,
"Alright, hurry up and get back to work. We don’t have much time left," and with that, the warden left.
Madam Laura watched the warden leave until her back disappeared before she smirked.
She quickly took the key that she had taken from the warden and slipped it into her pockets.
Downstairs, Felicia watched the inmates who were adding some ingredients to the food and wondered how she should shoo them away.
All of a sudden, an inmate called Felicia,
"Felicia, I need you to watch this for me while I go bring some chairs".
Without waiting for a response from Felicia, the inmate scurried away. The others who were already tired quickly went to Felicia and said the same thing.
Mary and Felicia glanced at each other before they smiled. In the kitchen, it was just the both of them now. Felicia turned off the gas before turning it back on but didn’t light any fire on it.
Madam Laura arrived and asked, "I have the key now, what else is remaining?"
"Nothing", said Felicia. "We need to leave now".
Quickly, the both of them left the kitchen and walked to the back of the prison. Felicia couldn’t run so they had to hold her and walk quickly.
An inmate arrived at the kitchen and saw it empty. She looked into the pots and noticed that the gas had been turned off. She reached for the lighter and as soon as the flame touched the gas,
KABOOM!!
The kitchen exploded. The impact of the explosion reached the main building of the prison and some parts of it got burnt down and everyone started running for their lives.
The security guards quickly protected the gates and allowed only the important guests out while the inmates were forced to stay inside. Luckily for them, the building didn’t collapse and the yard of the prison was big enough so they all found a shade to hide in and protect themselves.
The firefighters were to put out the fire and bring out the corpse of the inmate that had been burnt to a crisp. After that was settled, the wardens quickly gathered the inmates and counted them.
"1"
"2"
"3..."
They continued to count until they realized that three inmates were missing.
"Who escaped?" questioned a warden.
"Felicia, Madam Laura, and her mother-in-law, Mary", said an inmate.
On the other side, the runaways were at the back entrance of the prison. Luckily for them, it wasn’t protected since the guards were all at the front entrance, trying to evacuate the guests.
"I wonder who was burnt", commented Mary as she held Felicia who was already running out of stamina.
"Who cares? The only thing on my mind is getting out of here without being caught", said Felicia.
Madam Laura walked to the gates while avoiding the CCTV cameras, brought out the key that she had stolen from the warden earlier and tried to open the lock.
After several tries, the lock finally clicked open and she spread the door wide open for them.
As soon as they stepped out from the gates, they found Tobias’s car which was parked on the other side of the road. Quickly, they hurried their steps and walked towards it and got inside. As soon as they were all inside, Tobias started the car and drove off.
Tobias continued to drive until they arrived at a house that was surrounded by trees.
"This is the only place that I could find that was far from people, it’s safe and people rarely go here,"he said, heading to the boot of the car to carry the supplies he had bought for them.
"It’s nice,"Felicia commented before she entered the house that was only built with bricks and not painted. Has a door and windows made out of wood.
"So you will be staying here for how long?" Tobias asked her as he followed them into the house.
"Until we finally get our revenge on Erika", Mary replied. Madam Laura assisted Tobias by carrying the other supplies and headed into the house whilst making sure that the place was indeed safe for them.
Felicia’s face instantly soured when Erika’s name was mentioned. She turned to Tobias and asked,
"Can you help me find out if Erika is still working at the Walters corporations?"
Tobias shook his head before he replied, "Erika is no longer working there and she is also not living in the city anymore," his words got him a frown from the two women.
"Where is she staying?" Felicia asked
"In New York".
"What?! Why there?! How am I going to get my revenge on her if I can’t even reach her?" Felicia asked no one in particular through gritted teeth.
"I’d advise you to forget about your revenge because Erika is a very powerful woman and you are a nobody. She is up there and you are down here, she would squash you like a cherry if you look for her trouble", said Tobias as he made use of his hands to demonstrate their level of power.
"You see what she did to my face right? It was all her fault!" yelled Felicia, not liking how Tobias was calling her a nobody.
"Okay but then, what would you want to do if you find her? You will pour acid on her face? Or scar her the same way those people scarred you huh? Is that what you plan to do?" He asked her.
"What people?" asked Mary with a confused look. Felicia and Tobias instantly shit their mouth when they realized that they weren’t supposed to say things that shouldn’t be heard by Mary.
