Chapter 149: INTRODUCTION
"Why are you fidgeting? My parents aren’t monsters," Monica tried to comfort Felix who had been sweating profusely as if he was going to be hanged to death anytime soon. "Besides, they know you", she added.
"That doesn’t mean. Am going there for a different reason now so things are a lot more awkward for me", he replied as he held the steering wheel tighter with his sweaty hands.
Both Monica and Felix had finally agreed to get married. At the moment, they were on their way to visit the Smith couple to finalize things.
After the arrest of Jake, the young man was let out of prison after a few days and decided to let them be. It came out as a shock to the couple but it was what they wanted.
The guilt that Monica always carried along with her was no more and she wanted to spend the rest of her life with Felix.
Felix was the one who had suggested finalizing everything and making it official by visiting Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Monica’s parents, which she found completely unnecessary because they had already accepted them despite the first mishaps.
"I just want to be a good future son-in-law", he added when he noticed Monica staring at him. "What? Is it bad if I want to meet my future parents-in-law?" He asked her.
Monica could only shake her head helplessly. "No, it’s not bad at all", she replied. She reached for his hand. "You just have to relax and stop sweating so much, you are only going to give yourself more anxiety and also look", she pointed at the back seat of the car. "You bought so many gifts. I wonder how all of it is going to fit at the Smith’s mansion".
"You don’t know, maybe that would earn me more points from Uncle James", he said.
He continued to drive until they entered an estate that was enormously large with only three mansions. The estate gates were large with beautiful green plants surrounding each mansion making them look hidden. Huge muscular built security guards were stationed at the gates to receive the people who drove in. As soon as Felix’s car arrived, they asked for both his and Monica’s fingerprints if they matched their recent before they were allowed inside.
The gate opened wide for them and they entered after the guards confirmed everything. The Smith’s mansion was the next after the second mansion. Since each of them was enormously huge, one had to drive for some time before they could arrive at the front gates.
Felix’s fidgeting continued even though he pretended like everything was fine. But the closer he arrived near the mansion’s gates, the more anxious he became.
"Will you please relax already? They are not going to gobble you up you know", Monica said. Since the both of them announced their relationship in front of the Walters family, she wasn’t even half as scared as he was currently. Both Mr. and Mrs. Walters all accepted her warmly as their future daughter-in-law and of course, a teasing from her future brothers-in-law and her future sister-in-law and best friend.
"I am relaxed", he lied. Monica rolled her eyeballs at him. After he arrived at the gates, the security guards went to check the people who were inside the fancy sports car. As soon as they sighted their young madam and the family’s friend, they immediately opened the gates and Felix drove in. Just like the other mansions that they passed earlier, this one was also covered with many trees but it was done appropriately.
The maids around didn’t make the plants look out of shape or be too overgrown. A big fountain was placed at the center of the mansion’s ground. Sparkly water fell from the mouth of the molded sculpture that lay on top of it. The sun was not too hot as it shone down on the trees plus the cool breeze that made it dance around in joy. The maids were still around. Some were busy doing their work such as cleaning the windows, mobbing the grounds, or taking out the trash. Some had stopped their work to see who would come out from the fancy-looking sports car which was red and had parked inside the mansion grounds.
"Who do you think that is?" One of the maids who had stopped her job after the sports car parked whispered to her fellow maid who had her hands on her waist as her curiosity had also peaked just like the first one.
"I have no idea but he is rich’’, she replied as she rolled a few strands of her hair on her finger, shyly. "And handsome ’’, she added dreamily.
The first maid who asked her a question glared at her. "How do you know he is a man and is handsome?" she questioned her.
"Of course, it’s a man, I mean look at the car, it’s red in color", the second maid said. The first maid stared at the fellow maid before looking at the parked car.
"You are crazy", the first maid uttered before shaking her head in pity. The second maid didn’t bother with the first one at all and continued staring at the sports car.
All of a sudden, the door was opened and the both of them noticed their young madam coming out of the car. Monica wore a sundress that fitted her slightly tanned skin. She covered her feet with beautiful brown sandals that looked like delicious, creamy chocolates. She grabbed her Celine bag and urged Felix to come out. Felix came out of the car, making the second maid who had assumed it was a man who drove the car nearly faint.
"He is so handsome", the maid mumbled. The first maid rolled her eyes at the second maid.
"Will you stop that? The young miss is calling you".The second maid immediately stood straight and went to Monica who was calling her.
"Please can you get the bags inside the car?" she asked the maid who immediately nodded.
