Chapter 135: COMEBACK?
"That’s not for you to decide!" The leader yelled at him. Some of his saliva fell on Adrian’s face and he immediately cleaned it off. "So any last words, Adrain? You wanted the money right? So how about you take it and then I will kill you", the leader offered with a smile that exposed his yellow-painted teeth that seemed to glow at night even though they were not white.
Adrain’s eyes shook in fear when he heard the leader. He wasn’t going to die like this, he thought to himself. He noticed the leader slowly moving his finger towards the trigger and his heart nearly escaped from his chest.
Adrain immediately bent down on time when the leader decided to fire the bullet. The bullet hit the car window and it broke into pieces.
"What the f*ck", the leader cursed before he attempted to fire another bullet. Adrian grabbed the opportunity when the leader was slightly distracted and tried grabbing the gun but the leader tightened his grip on it. Together they tried to fight for the release of the gun.
"Let go", the leader ordered as he tried to kick Adrian away before unexpectedly, one of them fired a bullet and they both froze as cold water had been splashed on them.
Adrian slowly stepped back from the leader and he took the gun along with him.
"What the f*ck did you do?" The leader cursed as he covered his rib which was bleeding. "You shot me, you f*cker," he cursed again.
"Look, I didn’t mean to do it. I am so sorry ", Adrian tried to apologize but it was evident on the leader’s face that he didn’t care about the apology at all. He had been shot.
The leader walked towards Adrain who became scared out of his wits. "I didn’t mean it", he added as he slowly took backward steps.
The leader suddenly took his phone as if to call someone. Adrain panicked.
If news got out to the other criminals that someone like him had murdered their leader then things would only become much harder for him.
He was already being chased by the police who were sent by the bank he owed to catch him, he was also being chased by the police who caught him robbing a bank even though they hadn’t seen his face yet because of the mask he was wearing. He didn’t want to add a bunch of notorious criminals to that list. He would prefer to be caught by the police than by those people because he would be killed immediately if they caught up to him.
He came out of his thoughts when he heard the ringing from the receiver.
"I am going to make sure that they kill you", the leader promised as he held the phone with his bloody palms.
Without any other thought, Adrian positioned the gun and fired it at the leader who immediately died on the spot. His hands shook aggressively when he noticed the man stopped breathing. He stood there, shaking for at least 5 minutes before he managed to sink in what just happened.
He stared at the body of the leader who had already turned cold. "I just killed a person", he mumbled to himself. He searched around the area to make sure that nobody was around, especially the police but the only thing he saw was darkness.
He went to the dead man’s body and quickly took his phone and broke the SIM card. He lifted the dead body and put it in the van. He was going to dispose of it. If the others were able to trace the SIM card or see the dead body, they would be able to put the two together because they had never fully trusted him since he joined the business.
He searched for the car keys in the dead man’s pocket until he found them. Adrian started the car and drove away. He drove until he came across the forest that they had passed earlier when they had been running away from the police. This was the perfect spot to bury the dead body. No one was there and even if the others found out that their leader was dead, they would never be able to know that he was buried around here.
Adrian opened the van and quickly grabbed some tools from the van that he would be using to dig the ground.
He went to the furthest part of the forest and started digging as much as he could until sweat glistened on his forehead due to what he was feeling inside. It’s either he did this or he would die. There was no choice. He couldn’t carry the leader back saying that the police shot them when they were planning on escaping because they would still ask for the money.
After Adrian was done digging the ground, he went back to the van to carry the leader. It took him quite some time before he was able to finally reach the place that he had dug. He pushed the leader to the ground and started covering him with the sand. After he was done, he looked around the area again to be sure no one was watching. After he confirmed no strange noises, he went back to the van and drove away.
Adrain kept on driving until he sighted the police car from up ahead. He immediately drove the van to hide in the forest so that he wouldn’t be spotted.
The police siren sounded loudly on the quiet road as it passed by. Adrian spotted the three other gang members in the back seat of the cop car. They have been caught, he thought to himself. He waited until he couldn’t hear the siren anymore before driving out from the forest.
He looked at the heavy bags full of money. "I am rich", he muttered to himself with a smile. The guilt for having killed someone just a while ago had already vanished. They had all stolen at least the sum of 100 million dollars from the bank and the money was enough for him to pay off his debt and fly out from the country. The police didn’t know he was a thief so he could easily leave the country without any trouble, he thought to himself. "Erika, here I come", he said with a smile before he drove away to his hideout.
