Chapter 120: DETERMINED
In New York, Erika was at Ethan’s apartment, cleaning up the place since he wasn’t around. By the time she was finished, exhaustion hit her, making her slump on the couch, tiredly.
After getting some strength to stand up, she strode towards the bathroom to take a relaxing shower. After 20 minutes, she came out of the bathroom, wearing a white robe with a towel in her hand that she used to dry her wet air.
All of a sudden, her phone rang. She walked towards it and picked up the call.
"Good day, mam but Adrian Hart came to the company to look for you", said Eve from the other side. The receptionist had already informed her of the stranger who was looking for their boss.
"Whenever he comes there again, kick him out", she instructed and Eve obeyed.
Erika hung up on the phone and smirked. "He must be devastated now to find out that his wife was cheating on him", she said to herself. She opened her phone and scrolled through her contact list to see if she could find the station’s phone number again.
After finding it, she tapped on it with her thumb.
At the police station where Felicia had been locked up, a warden called her name,
"Felicia! There is a call for you", the warden informed.
Surprised, Felicia stood up from the floor and stepped out from the iron bars after the warden had unlocked it.
"Here, take this", the female warden handed her the telephone and stood on guard.
Felicia grabbed the telephone, unsure of what to say until she heard the familiar voice.
"Hello Felicia!" Erika called cheerfully from the other line. As soon as Felicia recognized the voice, her grip on the telephone tightened, her teeth gritted with rage.
"Why are you calling me?" questioned Felicia.
"Oh, I heard certain news about you, it’s all over the place. Who could have thought that you were cheating on your husband?" Erika’s voice held mockery as she spoke. "And to think that he never found out until it was released..... I must hand it to you. You are very experienced", although it might seem she was praising Felicia, the latter didn’t find her compliments pleasing at all.
"You...." Felicia was about to rain curses on Erika but was interrupted.
"Do you think that those pests whom you hired to ruin my image would succeed? Oh my Felicia, I know you hate me but if you want to destroy me, then please think smart next time, that trick of yours is so old-fashioned", Erika mocked.
"I’m going to make you pay for your evil deeds, Erika", Felicia promised.
Erika’s laughter rang out from the other side which only fueled up the hate in Felicia’s heart towards Erika.
"I’m not the one who is committing evil deeds, sweetie, you are. Can you believe that your husband is now chasing after me after learning the truth about you? It’s not my fault that your husband is now regretting his decision".
Even though Erika wasn’t sure of the reason behind Adrian’s visit to the company, she used the chance to apply salt to Felicia’s wounds.
"You are going to get what’s coming to you Erika, you might think that you’ve already won the battle but I am telling you this, I won’t let you be at peace once I get out of here", she promised again but with more determination this time.
"Hey shush, don’t you know you are not supposed to threaten someone when you are at the police station, are you sure you want to get acquitted? Oh well, I hope you and your mother-in-law rot in jail together", after saying those words, Erika hung up on the call without giving Felicia a chance to speak.
In a rage, Felicia banged the telephone hard on the desk which ended up shaking a bit.
"Hey, go back to your cell now!" The female warden ordered but Felicia still stood, not moving whilst glaring at the telephone as she balled her hands into a fist. "I said go back!" the female warden repeated.
Felicia finally moved, taking little steps until she entered her cell.
Mary scooted over to her side immediately and asked,
"Who was it?"
"Our mortal enemy", Felicia replied with three heavy words.
Mary’s mood also soured upon realizing who it was. "Erika", she mumbled. "She must be very happy now that we are both in jail, rejoicing in fact", she added.
"Of course, she should just enjoy it while she still can", said Felicia.
After Erika hung up on the call, she heaved a sigh of satisfaction before she fell on the bed to take a nap.
By the time Ethan arrived from work later in the evening, dinner had already been prepared.
"You look so tired", Erika commented when she noticed Ethan’s long face.
"Don’t worry about it, I only need to be with my energy source", after saying those words, Ethan pulled Erika towards him and captured her lips, making her jolt in surprise.
Ethan licked her lips and Erika opened up for him, letting him slip his tongue in her mouth to suck hers. The both of them go lost in their kiss until the microwave dinged but Ethan continued to suck on her lips.
"E-Ethan ....kiss....we h-have to eat....kiss", Erika’s words were interrupted by Ethan’s kisses, making her shush.
When Erika’s advances on making Ethan separate from her only led to failure, she surrendered herself. The both of them kissed for 10 more minutes until Ethan was finally satisfied.
"Let’s eat", Ethan announced before leaving to the kitchen to bring out the food that was in the microwave.
The both of them sat down to eat and enjoy their private time together which was very peaceful. On the bed, Ethan helped Erika slip out of her night dress before he climbed on top of her.
"It’s time to burn down those calories", he whispered in her ears before biting on her earlobe.
