Chapter 119: AVOID
In Paris, Monica had finally attended all the fashion shows that had been scheduled and it was the day for her to return to New York.
Monica was in her hotel room packing her bags before Felix suddenly badged in, startling her.
"What is it?" She questioned him with a frown.
With heavy breathing, Felix walked up to her and said, "Thank goodness, you are still here, I thought you’d already left," before releasing a sigh of relief.
Frowning, she dropped the cloth she was about to fold and keep in her traveling on the bed before questioning him with a raised eyebrow,
"And so what if I am still here? Didn’t you say you came here for business?"
Even though the both of them were officially in a relationship again, things were still slightly uncomfortable for Monica but hopefully, their interaction was no longer limited.
"I will go wherever you go", Felix declared shamelessly before reaching for the door to leave and get his bags ready. "Don’t leave without me", he said before he closed the doors, making Monica release a sigh.
Ever since the day that they had confessed feelings for each other, Felix would always follow her about, as if protecting her from any attacks which seemed cute to her. She suddenly remembered Jake and wondered where he was. Even though they hadn’t ended their last encounter on a mutual term, he was still a friend that she wanted to keep.
Reaching for her phone that lay on the other side of the bed, she grabbed it and searched for his contact number before sending a text again, for the nth time. When she didn’t receive a reply after waiting for more than 10 minutes, she sighed again and threw her phone aside. Slight guilt was written all over her face but she waved it away and carried on with her clothes. When she was done, she grabbed her phone again to see if she had gotten a reply from Jake yet but unfortunately, the message bar was still empty.
In no time, Felix badged into the room again with his traveling box which got him a questioning look from Monica.
"Did you fly?" She asked him.
"Yes", he replied.
Monica glared at him first before she zipped her box. One of her agreements, since they were officially together, was that they wouldn’t sleep together in the same room which wouldn’t lead to him getting any ideas so poor Felix had to continue to stay in the room next door which Monica was already aware of. By the time the both of them were done, Monica’s manager had texted her, informing her that her ride was ready.
Monica lifted her box off the bed to put it on the floor so that it could roll when she pulled it.
The both of them exited the room and went downstairs. Even though Felix’s ride was on the other side, he still got into the car with Monica, making her give him a look.
"Isn’t that your car on the other side?" She asked him.
"That’s my car but before you ask, I just want to be close to you", he replied. His answer made blood rush to her neck and cheeks.
"Whatever", Monica scoffed. The driver drove to the airport and the both of them stepped down when they arrived.
As they were walking, Monica recognized a familiar face from the crowd, it was Jake.
Monica contemplated if she should go meet him or pretend she didn’t see him. After going with the second option, she tore her eyes from him and walked away but unfortunately for her, Felix had sighted Jake and he grinned as an idea popped into his head.
"Hey, Jake!" He called out loud, gaining almost everyone’s attention to him.
Jake was sitting at the side, waiting for his flight to be announced and then, all of a sudden, he heard someone call his name out loud. He turned his head only to find Monica standing beside Felix as he waved at him as if they were friends.
’They are indeed together’, he thought to himself.
"What are you doing?" Monica whispered to Felix but the latter had already left her side, walking towards Jake.
"Jake, are you traveling back too?" Felix asked with a smirk as he extended his hands towards Jake, asking for a handshake. After glaring at Felix’s hand for a second, he responded by giving a brief nod before extending his hand as well and the grown men shook hands as if sealing a new friendship.
When Felix noticed that Monica was still standing awkwardly where he left her, he beckoned her towards him. "You see, we are also traveling back too. But why didn’t you let us know so that we can go back together?"
Monica glared at Felix but the latter pretended not to see it.
"I didn’t want to disturb you two", Jake replied. "That would be rude of me", he added as he sipped his drink. He stood up to reach their height and said, "But if you guys want to go back together, that’s fine".
The couple gave him a silent look and then, all of a sudden, Jake felt Felix’s grip on his hand tighten.
"That’s very kind of you, Jake. You know, I was thinking that you would be jealous of our relationship due to the texts I’ve been getting from you lately", Felix spilled which earned him curious eyes from Monica.
"Well, Monica had been a very good friend of mine and I wouldn’t want her to be hurt by the same person," said Jake. "Twice", he added and Felix slightly nodded in understanding before his grip tightened even more.
"That’s very kind of you Jake but there is nothing for you to worry about," said Monica.
The announcement for the next flight was announced and Felix finally released Jake’s hand and revealed a friendly smile that didn’t reach his eyes.
"Let’s go", he said and the latter glared at him before he started moving. Felix leaned towards Monica and whispered in her ears, "Stay away from him from now on".
