Chapter 109: ANOTHER CONFESSION
The secretary fidgeted a little before she opened her mouth to speak, "It was a headline about Mrs. Hart murdering the late matriarch. And also, there was a new headline that said that Mr. Hart had been admitted into the hospital". She brought out her phone and showed Adrain the videos that had been recorded from the police station.
Adrain watched the videos with an evident frown on his face. In anger, he snatched the phone from her and threw it hard on the wall. The poor phone made a shattered sound before it landed on the floor
"My phone", the secretary gasped in shock before running to pick up the tiny pieces left of her phone.
Without regretting the damage that he had caused to his secretary’s phone, he screamed in frustration, "Argh...." and threw away all the documents on his table in rage. The secretary was alarmed by her boss’s outburst. Without wasting any more time in his office, she quickly fled from there with her lifeless phone in her hands. In no time, the secretary submitted her resignation letter on his table, unsure if he would even read it as he was not in the right state of mind to understand anything at the moment, she didn’t bother with it and left from there.
At Ethan and Erika’s house, both of them had just arrived from the cemetery. Butler David welcomed them in and they all sat down in the living room. Erika narrated everything that had occurred to butler David, also mentioning that Mary had been locked up and the old couldn’t help but sigh helplessly.
All of a sudden, Erika got a call on her phone, and she picked it up to answer it.
"Is this Erika Walters?" The caller asked.
"Yes, why?"
"The criminal that you reported today, who is already in our custody, has just made another confession", the caller informed Erika.
"What confession?" she asked the officer.
"Please come to the police station immediately", the caller instructed.
"Alright, I will be there", Erika replied and cut the call.
"What happened?" Ethan asked her when he noticed she was about to leave the house.
"An officer in charge of Mary’s case just called to inform me that Mary had made another confession", she replied.
"Do you want me to go with you?" he asked her and she quickly shook her head.
"No, you stay here and make dinner for us okay," she said and pecked him on the cheek before she vanished from the house. Even though she had no idea about Mary’s deeds, she was quite curious to find out what other crimes her ex-mother-in-law had committed.

At the police station, Adrian yelled at Mary who was trying to free herself from his tight grip on her neck, "You are the one who killed my mother?!"
Adrain had been in his office, thinking of ways he was going to resolve the company’s issue when he received a phone call regarding a confession made by his stepmother.
"It was a lot easier to do it because she trusted me so much. Natalia was such a stupid woman", Mary managed to speak even with a strangled neck.
Before Mary married into the Hart mansion, she had been Natalia’s coworker and best friend, Adrian’s mother. They both worked at the Harts Corporations. They had been poor back then and they both had the same wish which was to get married to a rich man.
Just a few days after they started working at the Corp. Adam took fancy of Natalia and that bugged Mary. She grew jealous of Natalia after she and Adam got married and gave birth to a son, Adrian.
After years passed, she couldn’t contain her jealousy and gradually it turned into hatred.
"You know, I gave her death from my hands and she took it. She is so stupid," she laughed like a mad woman. "Did you know, I gave her the same poison that I used to kill that same old woman?"
"I am going to MAKE YOU PAY?!" Adrain yelled furiously.
The police officers attempted to separate the two and after a while, Adrain’s grip on Mary’s neck was finally released.
"Hey, this is the police and I would advise you not to murder anyone here if you don’t want to join her", one of the police officers threatened
Ignoring the officer’s threats, Adrain glared at "You are going to rot here in jail, you murderer!" Adrain spat and was about to leave the station but then he saw Erika walk inside the station. He quickly halted his steps.
Unfortunately for him, Erika passed him like he was air.
Walking to Mary’s cell, Erika looked at her in disdain.
Mary stood up from the cell ground and questioned Erika, "What are you doing here?"
"I came to see how you were doing in here", Erika replied while sizing up the prison cell. "You know, I heard that you committed another murder. You killed your best friend".
"I did it because she deserved it," Mary bluntly replied.
"And look at where you are now", Erika remarked. "You know, I heard that Adam is in a coma because of what you did", Erika informed Mary who didn’t seem to be affected by the news.
"Whatever, he can die if he wants, I don’t care".
Adrain who had been behind Erika overheard what Mary just had spouted and he saw red.
Grabbing Mary on the neck again, he tried to strangle her. The police officers quickly rushed over to try to release his hands from her neck.
"I am going to kill you, WITCH!" He yelled out in anger. Mary tried to get free from his hands because he grabbed her neck very tightly and she couldn’t breathe.
The police officers were successfully able to free Mary’s neck from his hands again.
Mary inhaled as much air as she could because, for a moment there, she thought she was going to die.
"Mr Hart, we can’t have you visit the criminal anymore. You have attempted murder, twice", the same officer from earlier warned Adrian who pointed at Mary with his index finger and a not-so-happy expression. "Please leave this moment".
Without wasting time repeating what he said, the officer instantly kicked Adrain out of the police station.
Amidst all this chaos, Erika sat at the waiting seat calmly watching the scene. From when Adrain wanted to strangle Mary till he got kicked out of the station by the officer.
Getting up, she walked to Mary’s cell. Seeing the woman trying to feed on air, she laughed, gaining the old woman’s attention.
"Look at yourself now Mary, everyone wants you dead", she mocked Mary who glared at her. "You deserve all the punishments that you are getting now because you brought it upon yourself", Erika added.
"Leave this place, I don’t want to see you". Mary ordered Erika with a fierce look.
"Not like I want to see you either", Erika said with a smile and turned her heels ready to leave. "Enjoy the rest of your life here Mary".
