Chapter 106: TRICKED
"You are a MONSTER!!!" Erika yelled at her in as clenched her fist tightly.
"What did that woman ever do to you? You said she is your mother in law but still you killed her all in the name of obtaining her properties?" Erika questioned her as hot tears streamed down from her eyes.
"I would have killed her a long time ago but you always stood in the way! YOU STOOD IN THE WAY FOR ME ERIKA!!!" Mary yelled back, anger etched on her red printed face. "I couldn’t come closer to that wretched old woman because you were the one who took care of her. You and that stupid butler", she added with spite.
Confused, Erika asked, "What do you mean?"
"That woman became strong because you took care of her. I wanted natural death to take her but it seemed that it would take quite a while before that happens so after you left the mansion, you don’t know how happy I was", Mary sang happily with a smile on her face that disgusted Erika. "I started my plan and it worked. My plan actually worked. That old woman was finally out of my way and I got her properties in my name". She laughed maniacally.
Furious, Erika reached for her pocket and retrieved a gun and pointed it at Mary’s forehead who instantly froze in fear.
"W-where did y-you get that gun f-from?" she stuttered. At the same time, Ethan entered the warehouse and yells,
"Erika don’t it! It would be an easier punishment".
"After what she did, she deserves to die!" She looked back at Mary who had already started shaking because she couldn’t move.
"If you kill her, you will be labeled as a murderer Erika! Don’t stoop to her level", Ethan tried to convince her as he went closer to her to get the gun away from her.
Ethan was able to successfully snatch the gun from her before she committed the biggest mistake of her life.
Mary saw that Erika had gone weak and she laughed at her in mockery.
"You are such a coward Erika, you couldn’t killed me? How weak of you", she taunted.
Erika revealed a smile before replying, "I won’t need to kill you, Mary. The poison will". Erika laughed at her the same way Mary did.
The winning smile on Mary’s face faltered. She had totally forgotten that the poison had been injected in her blood. She tried to move her hand but she couldn’t. She is paralyzed.
"Erika, give me the antidote", she ordered Erika. She looked at Ethan who was holding Erika. "Mr Anderson, I advice you to leave this woman. She is a crazy person. She had injected me with poison".
"Because you deserve to die just like the way you murdered an innocent old woman", Ethan replied coldly.
"So Mary, are you you enjoying your pleasant time. Is the paralysis hitting now?" Erika asked her with joy. "Don’t worry. I am sure that in no time, you will be in hell. At least by tomorrow, you should be dead right?"
Mary didn’t like the idea of her being dead. She glared at Erika who glared back at her and she shrank in her seat. "Give me the antidote".
"No".
Not long after, the police siren could be heard from afar. Mary’s eyes widened in shock.
"You called the police?" She questioned Erika.
"Of course. You didn’t think that I would let you go after what you said now did you?" Erika replied while hiding the gun back inside her jeans. She couldn’t be seen by the authorities with such an object since she was just a normal citizen.
"You are stupid. You called the police without having any evidence. How will they believe your claim?" Mary smirked thinking she had the upper hand in the situation.
"That is where you are wrong now". Taking out her phone from her leather jacket that she was wearing. She showed Mary the recording of their conversation. "I have a recording."
Mary attempted hitting Erika for outsmarting her but she couldn’t. But she had hope that when the officers arrive, they will inject her with the antidote but then she would have to go to jail.
"Don’t think too much Mary, it’s only going to make the poison work faster", Erika informed Mary with a smirk. She went back to stand near Ethan.
The police arrived and they marched towards the couple who had informed them about a criminal.
When they come closer, they recognized Ethan instantly. They were surprised that a business tycoon was the one to call them. Since it was an important person who informed them, it only meant that the crime was serious.
"Good day, Mr Anderson and miss Walters", the captain greeted the couple and nodded in response.
"Officers, please grab that antidote that is on the table and inject me with it. This witch here had injected a deadly poison in my body and now am paralyzed", Mary informed the officers as she glared at Erika. She had little time to live and she didn’t want to die.
The officers furrowed their eyebrows in confusion. The captain instructed his juniors to go bring him the antidote.
"Miss Walters, did you inject Mrs. Hart with poison?" The captain asked her.
The junior officers brought the antidote to him and he examined it.
"No officer", Erika replied.
"You liar!! You injected me with poison from that syringe", Mary yelled in anger.
"Officer, I didn’t inject her with poison. Instead, I only injected her with a truth serum", Erika replied calmly. "That bottle over there contains a deadly poison that she used to kill the late matriarch of the Hart family."
Mary had her mouth open in astonishment. She had been tricked.
"This is the recording of her confession", Erika handed the captain her phone and the recording played out. Erika didn’t forget to edit the part where she was about to shoot Mary.
The officers listened to the recording until it ended. The captain handed Erika her phone back and he walked towards Mary.
"Mrs Hart, you are under arrest for the murder of the late Mrs Elizabeth Hart", the captain declared as his junior untied her.
Mary stared at her arms and legs that were moving perfectly well in surprise like as if they had not been paralyzed just a minute ago.
