Chapter 103: MESSAGE
At the Hart’s mansion, Mary was in her room taking money from her safe box as usual until she noticed that a certain something that was missing.
She brought out all the money in the save but still didn’t find it. "Where is the bottle?" She mumbled with a frown.
Adam came into her room and was beyond surprised to see the fat wads of money on the ground. "Where did you get all these money from, Mary?" He asked her while staring at her suspiciously.
"These are my savings", she immediately replied. She has planned to go with that excuse if someone ever found out about the money she had been keeping in the save. Mary and Adam don’t longer share the same room anymore due to their constant arguments and fights which led Mary into willing to move into a guest room so as to have more liberty to do her things.
"You saved this much, how?" Adam questioned her because he didn’t buy her excuse at all. "Are these not my mother’s jewelries?" He asked her, bending down to pick up the jewelries that were on the ground with the money.
"I was keeping it save for her besides you didn’t seem to care about them or ask about them until now", she said trying to redirect the blame on Adam who kept his shut afterwards.
"These jewelries are quite expensive, should we sell these?" Adam suggested but Mary deeply frowned at that suggestion. She wanted to sell the jewelries and keep the money for herself. She knew that if Adam sold them then that greedy husband of hers would only be giving her a penny.
"How can you say that? They are your mother’s jewelries that she left behind before passing away and you want to sell it? We are not poor", she declared hoping that Adam would leave already so that she can continue looking for the bottle.
"When did you start caring about my mother and her things?" Adam questioned her with a suspicious look. He found it odd that Mary, the wife he married after the death of his first wife who always argued with his mother would start caring about his late mother’s belongings after her death.
Feeling suffocated, Mary immediately came up with something.
"She is still my mother in law after all. Even though we fight, it’s quite normal between daughters-in-law and their mothers-in-law. I just think that I should keep the jewelries until an emergency comes up", she tried to convince him but from the look on his face, he wasn’t buying her explanation at all. "When the company is at its peak of bankruptcy, then we can sell the jewelries to start another business, how about that?"
Adam stared at her for another second before dropping his hard look. He sighed, "We could do that but Adrain is going to remarry Erika anyway and the company will flourish again. Let’s use it to open another business instead", he reached out his hand to grab the diamond necklace.
Mary panicked, "Wait! It’s better to use it when an emergency comes up", she tried to convince him.
Adam retracted his hands. He gave in some thoughts to what his wife said and he nodded his head in agreement.
"You are right. Keep these jewelries safely. We might still need it for something later on", he told her and left the room.
As soon as his shadow disappeared along with him, Mary sighed in relief.
"You want to take my precious jewelries, you this greedy man", she muttered to herself. "What was I looking for again?" She asked herself while trying to remember what it was. "The bottle!" She exclaimed.
Mary started searching around her closets and her drawers Incase she had misplaced it. She searched every nook and crane in her room but still couldn’t find it anywhere. She started panicking even more than she already was.
"Where could it be?" She asked herself. She knew that if someone finds that bottle then she would definitely be bad because that was the bottle she had used to kill Elizabeth Hart.
Mary tried to recall if someone had entered her room but she couldn’t remember anything. She remembered that the Butler was still missing.
"Could he be with the bottle? But he couldn’t have possibly found out about the password of the save", she told herself.
Mary left her room after arranging the money and jewelries safely back inside the save.
She thought about asking the servants in the house. On her way downstairs, she saw a servant who was mopping the floor.
"Hey? Did you see anyone entering my room one time when I wasn’t home?" She asked the girl who bowed at her first before replying.
"No one madam. I have not been well for a few days so I have been off of work".
"Useless", Mary spat and left.
She went downstairs looking for another servant but she didn’t see anyone. "Where are those peasants when you need them?" She groaned in frustration.
Not long after, she saw a servant who was taking out the trash. Mary quickly stopped her.
"Hey you! Did you see anyone go into my room when I wasn’t home one time", she questioned the girl.
The girl got scared first before replying, "Yes, madam".
"Who did you see going there?" She questioned the girl with a harsh tone.
The girl flinched before answering, "I saw the butler going in your room some days ago. I thought he was going to your room to clean it up but I didn’t see any cleaning materials with him", she spoke as fast and she could so that Mary would let her carry on with her work.
Mary was stunned when she heard the girl. The butler? She looked at the girl who had already started crying. "You can leave", and the girl quickly bolted from there.
Going back to her room to pick up her phone and call the butler to find out about his whereabouts, she saw a message on her phone from an unknown number.
"Am sorry. I totally regret everything that I ever did especially leaving the Harts mansion. Please accept me back and I will do everything you ask of me. I miss Adrain already and I want him back as my husband again. Let’s meet up so that I can apologize properly please", Mary read out the message. She smirked in victory. She decided to call the butler later. First, she will teach Erika a lesson
