Chapter 332: Chapter 331: Effect

With the Spirit Race Ancestor, a Divine Rune Grandmaster, powering the grand array, everyone except for General Long was rendered essentially useless. They were scattered in an instant, no longer grouped together. While they posed a threat when assembled, their power plummeted once they were separated, leaving them with little offensive capability.

"What’s going on? This Divine Rune is useless?" A Dragon Soldier patted the Divine Rune on his body, but it had no effect whatsoever. No matter how it flickered, it couldn’t break through the Illusionary Array.

If they ran for even a moment, they would immediately crash into a giant tree, leaving them with no choice but to move slowly. But moving slowly was just as pointless. After passing through a layer of mist, they would still smash right into a tree. The only benefit to going slow was that the impact wasn’t quite as painful...

They had finally realized that they were trapped in a Maze Array. If not, why would they feel like they were walking in circles? And they certainly wouldn’t be crashing into trees. There was only one explanation—they were trapped!

"Weren’t the Divine Runes the National Preceptor gave us supposed to counter this Illusionary Array?" a Dragon Soldier cried in horror. He had no idea which way to go. None of them could fly; if they could, they might have had a chance to escape.

But since they couldn’t fly, they were well and truly trapped. Their cultivation was only at the Spirit Pill Stage, and the Earth Dragons certainly couldn’t fly, so they were in a serious bind.

"As if the Divine Runes your National Preceptor gave you could ever counter this Illusionary Array." A ghostly voice whispered in his ear, making the Dragon Soldier glance warily to the side. He saw no one, only a vast expanse of white mist.

"Who’s there? Show yourself!" the Dragon Soldier yelled, terrified. He was already panicking.

The unknown is always the most terrifying thing, especially deep inside an enemy’s forest.

"Looking for me?" The ghostly voice sounded again, this time from right behind him. Startled, he whipped around, but saw nothing at all.

Even the Earth Dragon, with its incredibly keen sense of smell, couldn’t detect a single trace of him. Such was the power of the Illusionary Array. As long as one’s cultivation was below a certain threshold, they would be impossible to find unless they initiated an attack.

An attack would expose their Spiritual Power, thus giving away their position.

"D-Don’t just sneak around! If you’ve got the guts, come out and fight me!" the Dragon Soldier roared. He clutched his long spear, warily scanning his surroundings. He even stabbed forward a few times, but his spear met nothing but empty air.

"Alright, no problem. I’m right behind you." The ghostly voice sounded once more, and the Dragon Soldier hurriedly twisted his head around to look.

A blood-red blade immediately slashed across his back. The Dragon Soldier stiffened for a second before his head parted ways with his body. A figure appeared on the back of the Earth Dragon. It was Yi Tianyun!

When he found this Dragon Soldier, he wasn’t in a hurry to kill him, choosing instead to toy with him for a bit. It seemed his opponent was completely unable to detect him, utterly trapped by the Illusionary Array.

He had even stood less than a meter away, right in front of the Dragon Soldier, without being seen. It was just as Ye Qingxuan had said: as long as the opponent’s cultivation level wasn’t too high, you could stroll right in front of them without being discovered.

It now seemed this was indeed the case. With the Spirit Race Ancestor powering it, the Illusionary Array was demonstrating the majority of its potential. Before, when Elder Yan was in control, it only concealed them from a great distance. But now, they were undetectable even up close—that was what made it so incredible.

"ROAR!" The Earth Dragon underfoot felt Yi Tianyun’s weight and began to thrash about, trying to fling him off. But Yi Tianyun had already stomped down hard.

BAM!

He stomped the Earth Dragon into the ground. No matter how it writhed, it couldn’t shake Yi Tianyun off. It felt as if a great mountain was crushing it.

"Settle down. I don’t want to hurt you."

Yi Tianyun immediately used his Capture skill. A beam of light enveloped the Earth Dragon, and moments later, it became one of his pets.

"Ding! Congratulations to Player ’Yi Tianyun’ for successfully capturing the Earth Dragon. You have received 100,000 EXP and 100 points in Capture Mastery Proficiency!"

The Earth Dragon quickly became his pet, completely obedient to his commands. It would even kill itself without hesitation if he ordered it to. ’Thankfully, there doesn’t seem to be a limit to my pet slots,’ he thought. ’Otherwise, I’d fill up after just a few captures and wouldn’t be able to get any more.’

"Excellent. On to the next one!" Yi Tianyun retracted the Earth Dragon into his pet slot, and the beast vanished from sight. ’This pet slot is so convenient. Putting pets away is a breeze.’

Storage Rings couldn’t hold living creatures, so most people who owned Demon Beasts had to keep them by their side at all times.

Yi Tianyun’s figure immediately vanished as he went to ambush the other Dragon Soldiers. Ye Qingxuan was not slowing down either. Unlike Yi Tianyun, she didn’t play around. She would silently approach a Dragon Soldier and ambush them without hesitation, ending them in a single blow!

The slain soldier’s Earth Dragon roared and lunged toward Ye Qingxuan. She leaped backward, vanishing from the Earth Dragon’s sight and disappearing into the mist.

After losing its target, the Earth Dragon began to bellow in frustration. But in the next moment, Yi Tianyun landed on its head and used his Capture skill, taking the Earth Dragon for himself.

"There, there..." Yi Tianyun said, reaching out to stroke the Earth Dragon. The creature affectionately leaned in, nuzzling its head against his palm.

"H-How did you subdue it?" Ye Qingxuan asked, a silver whip in her hand. She had just been about to suggest killing the Earth Dragon when Yi Tianyun suddenly appeared and tamed it instead.

"You just have to give it a few pets," Yi Tianyun said with a smile, continuing to stroke the Earth Dragon’s head as a sign for it to obey his commands.

"That’s all it takes?" Ye Qingxuan was surprised, though only for a moment. She had already seen Yi Tianyun do far too many unbelievable things. "I never knew you had the talent for it. Looks like you could be a Beast Tamer."

"A Beast Tamer, you say?" Yi Tianyun laughed. "I like the sound of that. Since that’s the case, how about you help me capture all of their Earth Dragons?"

"That’s an excellent idea. To capture all the Earth Dragons they painstakingly raised and have them obey our commands... that sounds like fun. I wonder what kind of face General Long will make when he finds out?" Ye Qingxuan eagerly anticipated General Long’s reaction.

As the man in charge of Netherworld Prison, how could they not despise him?

"I’m sure it will be quite a spectacle... Let’s go." Yi Tianyun gave a slight smile, patted the Earth Dragon, and then vanished into the forest with Ye Qingxuan.
