Chapter 438: Chapter 262: Realization

"So, in a spiritual sense, we must defend Lanxi City."

After a brief pause, seeing that everyone was contemplating, Alexander continued, "Furthermore, defending Lanxi City would have been extremely difficult before. But now, Fang Zhen has brought the key ingredients for the Blood Burst Secret Medicine."

"We’ve tested the Blood Burst Secret Medicine, and we all know how lethal it is to the aberrants. Even if there are countless of them, as long as we have enough Blood Burst Secret Medicine, then in terms of actual strength, holding Lanxi City isn’t impossible."

"So, we must hold Lanxi City. It has spiritual significance, and we have the strength to do it. This undertaking has far-reaching implications, and it must be done."

After hearing what Alexander said, Anglo, who had just voiced his opposition, fell silent.

A moment later, Anglo said, "Indeed, the power of the Blood Burst Secret Medicine is unimaginably great. If we can use this medicine properly, then fending off the aberrants’ assault might not be impossible."

It seemed that Alexander’s words had caused Anglo to change his stance.

Anglo looked at Fang Zhen.

"You’re truly a miracle worker, Ranger Fang Zhen."

Seeing that no one else was objecting, Alexander nodded slightly. He then turned to Fang Zhen and asked, "Fang Zhen, do you have anything to say about these arrangements?"

Fang Zhen had been listening and watching the whole time. After all, this was the Whig Society’s territory, and it wasn’t his place as an outsider to just jump in and start giving orders.

But since Alexander had asked, Fang Zhen said, "I have no objections, just one small point. Have all of you considered the weather?"

Anglo paused, taken aback by Fang Zhen’s words.

"I did overlook that factor," Anglo admitted. "The weather is crucial, especially on an island like this. Winds and storms at sea will affect any reinforcements—ours or the enemy’s—trying to land here. That’s a critical point to consider."

West, at his side, added, "Usually, a storm is likely to hit the island within the next two months. But in the past, they’ve only ever grazed the island’s edge before moving on. I’m not sure if that will be the case this time."

Hearing this, Fang Zhen thought to himself, ’The storm West mentioned could be a typhoon. Tropical islands like this often get hit by them, and if a big one forms, its power would be astonishing.’

After thinking carefully for a moment, Anglo said, "This will have a major impact on our reinforcements. Up north, Gwendolyn has begun gathering Whig Society members and Curse Sealers from the various cities. Their numbers could be over 400 to 500 people."

"They’re heading this way to reinforce Glan Island. We got the news by carrier pigeon, but the line of communication isn’t reliable, so we’re not sure of their current position."

"But if a storm hits, they won’t be able to reach us in time. We’ll have to rely primarily on our own strength to hold Lanxi City."

West nodded slightly. "That’s true," he said. "But on the other hand, the aberrants could also get swept away to other places by the waves during the typhoon."

"So that might lessen the pressure on our defense."

"That’s not necessarily true," Anglo said. "We don’t know if the Eternal Night Council will send high-ranking councilors here to organize an attack, but based on past experience, it’s very likely."

"They might use ships, or they might use other means to bring the aberrants here."

Hearing this, Fang Zhen came to a conclusion.

’Anglo’s words made more sense,’ he thought. ’I have a piece of evidence that no one else does: there was a threat advisory before I entered this instance. If that warning was accurate, then in the near future, a Vice-Chairman of the Eternal Night Council will lead councilors, aberrants, and possibly even an army to attack Lanxi. But as an outsider, it isn’t appropriate for me to say that now, and I can’t offer any proof.’

West thought for a moment, then said, "Then let’s just plan for the worst. Making extra preparations for the worst-case scenario will be useful in the end. It’s at least better than being caught without a plan."

"I agree," Anglo declared.

Everyone from the Whig Society turned to look at Alexander.

It was clear that within the Whig Society’s leadership, Alexander held a preeminent position. West and Anglo were likely the two who most frequently voiced their opinions, and while they sometimes disagreed, Alexander was always able to synthesize their input and make a reasonable judgment.

"Alright, let’s settle on this strategy for now. But before the typhoon arrives, there’s one thing we must do: organize an elite unit of Curse Sealers to first clear the island of its Abnormal Ghosts and other aberrants."

"We previously thought this would require too many people, but with the Blood Burst Secret Medicine, we now have the advantage."

"By clearing the aberrants from the island now, we can reduce the pressure on us when we later face the main forces of the Eternal Night Council."

Alexander had made the final decision, and everyone was in agreement.

And so, the Whig Society began to assign personnel to gather and prepare supplies. They also started organizing a formidable unit of Curse Sealers, preparing to eliminate the aberrants on the island one by one.
