Chapter 430: Chapter 260: Lanxi City, the Legendary Realm
The Black Armored Fierce Ghost on the ground was dead. No other abnormalities in the area were left standing.
Laura and Pat had mostly cleared out the other Abnormal Ghosts nearby. Just then, Nathan and another Warrior rushed over from the direction Fang Zhen had come from.
They were stunned by the scene before them.
They had departed from the same spot as Fang Zhen, not long after he did. Their arrivals were only a few minutes apart.
The dozens of abnormalities that had been aggressively besieging this place just moments ago were now either completely dead or smashed to bits. It was a veritable river of blood.
’So this is Fang Zhen’s true strength?’ Nathan muttered to himself upon arriving.
Fang Zhen flicked his long spear, flinging off the blood coating its shaft. Any remaining droplets were absorbed by the Hong Ying tassel, though by now the tassel itself was dyed a dark purple from all the blood.
Fang Zhen scanned the battlefield again, confirming that there were indeed no abnormalities left alive.
He rode his horse over to Pat.
Seeing a familiar face, Fang Zhen relaxed and greeted him with a slight smile. "Pat, long time no see."
"Hahaha! Long time no see! You seem even stronger than the last time we met," Pat couldn’t help but remark.
"That Curse Seal you just used... I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before. I think only the President can use that technique, but I don’t remember clearly," said Pat.
Fang Zhen raised an eyebrow slightly. "The President of the Whig Society?"
He had heard Gwendolyn mention the President before—the most talented and powerful person in the entire Whig Society. He wondered if this President had broken through to the ultimate realm and reached Level 5 of the Curse Seals.
’If I get the chance, it would be good to meet him and have a sparring match.’
’I’m also very curious about the caliber of this world’s experts, and whether their fighting styles are similar to mine.’
Nearby, Laura looked at Fang Zhen and gave him a nod.
A brilliant light shone in Laura’s eyes as she stared at Fang Zhen, looking as if she wanted to eat him alive.
Fang Zhen noticed her gaze but wasn’t surprised.
’Laura mentioned before that she only likes men who are stronger than her, and she especially likes the ones who act aloof. I guess you could call it an attraction to the powerful.’
Fang Zhen’s gaze then shifted to the war fortress Pat had just charged out of.
From within the fortress, in addition to the Warriors who had followed Pat out, nearly twenty youths now emerged.
The youths were a mix of boys and girls, most between twelve and eighteen years old. They were all dressed in uniform gray and white linen combat attire.
Some held swords, though few were real steel. Most were wooden swords, knives, and staves.
Fang Zhen looked at the children, a thoughtful expression on his face.
Laura, standing nearby, noticed his gaze.
Laura said, "This village is our training ground for Curse Sealers. All the children here have the talent to become one."
"Most of them are orphans whose parents were killed by abnormalities. The Whig Society rescued and trained them. They are the most loyal members we have."
At this, Laura seemed to remember something, and her expression suddenly darkened.
"Except for a very few," Laura added.
Fang Zhen saw her expression and had a good idea of what she was thinking. ’She’s probably remembering Tos, who betrayed the Whig Society in the Bloody Lord’s dungeon.’
Tos had the same background as these children—an orphan the society had taken in.
’It seems Tos’s betrayal caused immense damage and had a profound impact on the Whig Society.’
Fang Zhen now understood why everyone was defending this place to the death, and why Pat and Laura were here supporting the village.
It was for the sake of these children.
For the future and hope of the Whig Society.
He glanced at the mangled corpses of the abnormalities scattered around and asked, "Why didn’t you use the Blood Burst Secret Medicine?"
"If your weapons were coated with it, these abnormalities shouldn’t have been able to harm you—at least, they wouldn’t have posed such a threat."
"What happened?"
Hearing this, Pat sighed in frustration.
Laura’s expression was also grim; she frowned and shook her head.
After a moment, Laura answered, "We used about a third of the Alchemy Potions you brought last time, the ones used to make the Blood Burst Secret Medicine. Afterward, Gwendolyn developed a new preservation method that allows the medicine to remain active for a long time."
"The finished batches of the secret medicine were sent to various battlefronts, and they were extremely effective against the abnormalities."
"However, the Whig Society headquarters requested a batch of the medicine for our Alchemists to use as raw material, to see if they could uncover its secrets. So, one-third of the Alchemy Pills were shipped from Ellick Territory to Glan Island."
"But on the way, the ship was sunk by abnormalities in the water. We don’t know if those pills were taken by the abnormalities or if they sank to the bottom of the sea."
"Now, all of Glan Island is out of the secret medicine and the Alchemy Pills you provided. We only had one or two small jars of Blood Burst Secret Medicine on our persons, and we used those up long ago. We’ve only saved a tiny amount as a trump card for a critical moment."
Upon hearing this, Fang Zhen understood the situation.
’I arrived at just the right time, when the Whig Society is most in need of medicine and supplies.’
’As the saying goes, it’s better to offer help in a time of need than to add to a time of plenty. Although I didn’t plan it this way, I’ve ended up providing help exactly when it was needed most.’
