Chapter 1106: Chapter 1016: The Risk of Existence

The secretary came in with a message, and when Mo Wenwan heard that Li Li wanted to see her, her heart felt safest only in her pocket. She recalled the previous disagreements they had and felt even more uneasy. Seriously contemplating the potential topics to be discussed, she quickly pulled up some data from her computer.

"It seems they want to discuss online movies, and with so many genres recently, they probably want to know which ones are most profitable. This... is really hard to say."

Although Mo Wenwan has conducted research in this area, no one can be 100% certain about box office performance. Even though online movies are only shown online, you can’t always predict the viewership numbers. Often, mistakes are made in predictions, and poor box office performance is common, while overnight success isn’t unheard of either.

"If they really ask me about this, I’ll need to carefully consider my response."

Mo Wenwan felt a bit of a headache; lately, she was increasingly afraid of meeting Li Li.

"Forget it, I might as well go there so they don’t have to call and urge me."

Before the phone could ring, Mo Wenwan hurried out of her office and headed towards Li Li’s office.

Li Li was quite displeased internally because of Huang Shan’s lousy suggestions, but her words had a wake-up effect. Hence, he was much more guarded against Mo Wenwan than before. Normally, collaboration requires time; he valued Mo Wenwan’s abilities and therefore wanted to collaborate with her. Given the high price offered, he hoped to receive equivalent returns.

Currently, this quarter’s performance is stagnant, and there’s even a foreboding of a decline next quarter. As a boss, this is the last thing he wants to see. Even if profits are lower, they cannot be too low—otherwise, how can he support the company’s entire staff?

"President Li, I’m entering."

Mo Wenwan entered and was immediately met with the smell of tobacco.

Knowing that Li Li generally doesn’t smoke in the office unless there’s a particularly troublesome or difficult issue, her mood worsened, wondering what conflicts might arise later.

"You’re here, take a seat."

Li Li exchanged polite small talk, having already planned the upcoming conversation in his mind. As he attentively watched the woman’s composed face, he lightly said, "I invited you to discuss the upcoming arrangements for online movies."

Mo Wenwan thought to herself: it seems I was right, they do want to discuss this.

She knew exactly what she wanted to say, but when it came to actually speaking, the words wouldn’t come out clearly. All she could do was listen to Li Li speak, nodding occasionally to indicate her thoughts, and earnestly said, "The actors have been confirmed, but I still can’t be sure if they can bring stable box office revenues."

Mo Wenwan hadn’t expected the topic of box office would come up. Knowing Li Li is a businessman, it’s impossible for him not to focus on money. The more she thought about it, the more she felt uneasy and thoughtfully said, "I disagree that the actors will necessarily bring in box office revenues. Even if they have fans, not all fans will buy tickets, especially since we’ve used many new actors this time, there’s certainly a risk."

Li Li dislikes hearing about risks the most, but risk is inherent in every investment, so there’s no getting around it. Even if it’s not mentioned, risk still exists, so you can’t just focus on one side.

"President Li, this is my own idea, just a small suggestion of mine."
