Chapter 473: Chapter 4: Undersea Spiritual Acupoints
Panicked schools of fish darted about, churning the ocean currents and sending foam flying.
A great battle in the Hundred-Eyed Demon Saint’s waters had caused massive numbers of sea fish and Little Demons to flee into this region, which was dense with Demonic Qi.
With this new food source, the Sea Monsters in the region immediately became more active.
Two gigantic Sea Monsters were tangled in a fierce battle. Demonic Qi surged from them, transforming into dazzling demonic lights that they fired at each other. Then, they resorted to tearing at each other with their tentacles and biting with their gaping maws.
Foul blood bloomed like ink in the water as bits of flesh and Scales flew everywhere.
Yang Jing tied the shrunken Demon-Catching Tripod to his waist and used the Nine Illusion Mirage Demon Qi to conceal himself.
He had been deep in the West Sea for over ten days. The concentration of Demonic Qi in the water here skyrocketed, only slightly weaker than the Demonic Qi in the Demon Realm at the Nine Yang Sect ruins on land.
The Water Escape Technique allowed for very stealthy Tunneling, even through turbid, malevolent qi, but it was easily disrupted by Demonic Qi. Not only was his Tunneling Speed greatly reduced, but he also couldn’t conceal his form as effectively as before.
However, thanks to the Demon-Catching Tripod, Yang Jing could still travel quickly despite the dense Demonic Qi.
Having spent a long time deep in the sea, Yang Jing discovered that these Sea Monsters, corrupted by Demonic Qi, were constantly devouring one another. As they did, their bodies grew larger and larger, and the Demonic Qi they exuded became ever more intense.
Some of the older Sea Monsters had already grown to an astonishing two to three hundred feet in size, yet they still continued to devour one another.
When the Celestial Demons decided to launch their conquest of the sea Demons’ territory, they would drive these Sea Monsters forward to act as their vanguard.
In the sea, the boundary between the Nine Heavens World and the Demon Realm had become extremely blurry, making it very easy to stray into the Demon Realm by accident. If not for the fact that Yang Jing had entered the Demon Realm many times before and immediately sensed something was amiss, he might have found himself inside it without even realizing.
The Demon Realm in the sea was completely different from the one at the Nine Yang Sect ruins.
On land, the Power of Heaven and Earth’s Membrane was extremely strong, compressing the Demon Realm at the Nine Yang Sect ruins into an almost perfect sphere. In the sea, however, this power was much weaker, resulting in the Demon Realm having a completely irregular shape.
Using his Grotto Dark Dharma Eye to carefully investigate, Yang Jing determined that this underwater Demon Realm was shaped like a sea anemone. Countless thin tentacles stretched out from its core in all directions, each with a diameter of over a hundred feet.
If an ordinary Demon or sea fish accidentally drifted into one of the tentacles, it would immediately be corrupted by the Demonic Qi inside, or captured by the Celestial Demons hiding within.
Aided by his Nine Illusion Mirage Demon Qi and Grotto Dark Dharma Eye, Yang Jing traveled unimpeded through the Demon Realm’s tentacles.
Any foolish Celestial Demons that blocked his path were bewildered by his Nine Illusion Mirage Demon Qi and absorbed into the Celestial Demon Park within his Inner World.
As Yang Jing was passing through one of the Demon Realm’s tentacles, he suddenly stopped.
Although this sea region was overrun with Demonic Qi due to the Demon Realm’s presence, it was not devoid of treasures useful to Cultivators. In fact, because the Spiritual Qi was being compressed by the Demonic Qi, it had reached Tier Three or even Tier Four density in some narrow pockets.
Because the area was so remote, some Spiritual Objects in these pockets had managed to survive, growing safely for nearly ten thousand years.
Although these pockets of Spiritual Qi were well-hidden, they couldn’t escape Yang Jing’s Grotto Dark Dharma Eye. He wove through the water like a fish and slipped into a dark grotto on the seafloor.
After passing through a winding tunnel, the view suddenly opened up.
A dense Spiritual Mechanism washed over him. A Red Jade Coral, standing twenty to thirty feet tall, stood silently in the center of the grotto, emitting a soft red glow that illuminated the entire space.
The grotto’s walls and floor were covered with a dazzling array of Spirit Medicines of all kinds.
Suddenly, a black shadow shot out as quick as lightning, lunging straight for Yang Jing’s face.
Yang Jing reached out and snatched the black shadow. It was a Sea Eel as thick as his arm, with dense Demon Qi on par with that of a Great Demon.
But since it was a Wild Demon with no lineage, it had neither undergone Transformation nor learned to speak. Even caught in Yang Jing’s grip, it showed no fear, instead hissing at him threateningly.
Yang Jing squeezed, knocking it unconscious, then released Iron Head from his Inner World.
There were countless types of Spirit Medicine in the Nine Heavens World, and since these were all marine varieties, he recognized even fewer. If a Spirit Medicine wasn’t harvested correctly, its medicinal properties could be greatly diminished, and some might even become toxic.
Although Iron Head might not recognize all of these Spirit Medicines, he possessed the Divine Technique of Elixir Understanding, which allowed him to discern their properties.
The moment he entered the grotto, Iron Head’s eyes went wide. For an Alchemist, this place was a treasure trove of Spirit Medicine.
His gaze immediately fell upon a fungus-like Spirit Plant. It was five-colored and shimmered brilliantly under the light of the Red Jade Coral.
"Master, this is a Five-Colored Coral Brain! Judging by its size, it must be nearly ten thousand years old!"
In the coastal seas, this type of Coral Brain had long since gone extinct. The ones that were occasionally found were only a few hundred years old and the size of a fingernail, whereas this one was nearly the size of a washbasin. The difference in value was plain to see.
Next, Iron Head found several other types of Spirit Medicine that were extremely rare elsewhere. Some of the plants weren’t particularly rare in and of themselves, but their age of nearly ten thousand years still multiplied their value immensely.
If not for this abundance of Spirit Medicine, that Sea Eel, with no lineage whatsoever, could never have been brute-forced into the Foundation Establishment Realm.
