Chapter 417: 417 Warhammer 2

I took plenty of photos with Titus to satisfy my personal desires, and as thanks, I used [Matter Copy] to duplicate ’Super Soldier Serum’ from my inventory and left one for each of them. I wasn’t sure if it would work, given the different universe and their augmented nature.

"Whoa! The power..."

Suddenly, the Space Marines grew slightly larger and their muscles became more defined. The serum had successfully turned them into super-soldier Space Marines without any side effects. That probably offset the lost [Efficient Physique] ability—since Super Soldier Serum was S-rank, it made sense.

"I wasn’t sure if it would work, but it turned out well. Consider it compensation. Since I gave you power, fight hard. Maybe you’ll regain your courage (mental fortitude)."

I read their memories one last time and released them. But their movements were extremely awkward—the increased size meant their power armor no longer fit.

CREAK! CREAK!

"Damn! The power armor doesn’t fit."

"Same here."

Titus, after hearing the other Marines, thought for a moment and asked me,

"Are you an enemy of humanity?"

"That depends on you. I don’t care what you believe. But I doubt you can say the same?"

"What did you inject into us?"

"I took your courage. So as compensation, I gave you physical enhancement serum from another world. It probably fixed any deficiencies—if you want, you can get married and have children now."

I answered honestly. The changes in their bodies seemed to convince them.

"Marriage... Anyway, what’s your goal?"

"Collecting courage. That’s all. I also tried to extract information, but it was a waste of time. I intend to do the same to those listening in from above."

I was already aware that the conversation was being monitored from the Space Marine Battle Barge above.

"Damn... You knew."

"Wait here, I’ll be back."

"Wait—"

Titus tried to say something, but I ignored him and teleported into space, found the Battle Barge, and entered.

Aboard the ship were the Ultramarines 2nd Company, waiting. I used [Telekinesis] to subdue them all and absorbed their abilities. They couldn’t resist anything I did, and the Dreadnought was no exception. I even found a Chaplain wearing a skull mask and took a photo with him. They shouted various things, but I just ignored them.

There were about 85 personnel—thanks to them, I raised [Strong Mental Fortitude] to EX rank, but [Efficient Physique] seemed capped at SSS. The ability names also changed: [Strong Mental Fortitude] became [Absolute Mind], and [Efficient Physique] became [Perfect Physique].

[(EX) Absolute Mind]

Nullifies all mental attacks and cannot be shaken by anything.

[(SSS) Perfect Physique]

All bodily efficiencies become perfect—can survive long periods with minimal food, and fatigue recovers quickly without sleep. (Constitution +200)

It was nice to raise the abilities, but they had already hit their cap. I’d only gained 310 points, and the thought of reaching 1690 felt daunting—I even considered absorbing the abilities of the Navigator Psykers.

But their numbers were few, and a better idea came to mind: I headed to the Battle Barge’s armory, copied all the weapons into my inventory, grabbed a silver key just in case, and returned to the battlefield. It felt like I’d gathered quite the haul.

"Damn, it’s already over."

Titus and the Marines on the battlefield saw me and seemed to realize what had happened.

Looking around, the Guardsmen were moving busily, regrouping their lines.

"The Tyranids’ movements seem unusual, don’t they?"

"Because of you, I’ve got too much on my mind to command properly."

Titus replied with a dissatisfied look—it seemed he and the Marines had become more troubled after losing [Strong Mental Fortitude].

"Then I’ll hold the line for now. How about you go to the Battle Barge and ask the Tech-Priests to fix your ill-fitting power armor first? You can’t do anything in your current state."

I said that, as if something had occurred to me, and decided to give Titus a hint.

"Oh, by the way, the Tech-Priests are researching a strange artifact containing Warp energy—you should be careful. The Warp might open and Chaos could spill through."

Titus and the Marines beside him looked shocked.

"Wha, what? Is that true?"

"Yeah. Definitely—some guy named Noxik Beta-12 was researching it under the ’Aurora Project.’"

"Unbelievable."

Titus and the Marines hurried into the planetary base. I followed them.

The Adeptus Mechanicus is a religious cult that worships machinery and technology in the Warhammer universe. They view technology not as mere tools but as sacred, believing in the ’Machine God.’

To followers of the Imperial Cult, this might be heretical, but they equate the Emperor with the Machine God’s manifestation (the Omnissiah) and coexist with His approval.

The Warp—also called the Immaterium—is a dimension where the pure psychic energy and emotions of the entire universe flow. As long as the universe exists, it holds nearly infinite energy and, despite being another dimension, has a significant impact on reality.

It exists parallel to the material universe, enabling faster-than-light travel and psychic abilities, but it’s also a dangerous realm where the Chaos Gods—born from immense psychic energies gaining sentience—and their daemons dwell.

Despite its dangers, the Warp is always at the center of events due to its near-infinite energy. This case was no different: the artifact I mentioned was created by the ancient Necrons using Warp power, and Noxik of the Mechanicus was researching it to develop new weapons.

Titus’s group urgently sought out Noxik on this planet. True to the Mechanicus, Noxik had replaced most of his body with machinery—but unlike the sleek enhancements in Cyberpunk, his appearance was clunky and grotesque, with parts haphazardly bolted on.

"Archmagos (Noxik’s title), that artifact is dangerous!"

"Oh~ Achelean finally sent the requested item! But dangerous—where did you get that information?"

At that, I stepped forward.

"From me."

"Huh? Who are you... Ah, the one who used those flashy psychic abilities earlier. Amazing—I’ve never seen such a powerful psyker in my life. Would you like to collaborate on some research? In exchange, I’ll replace your body with powerful machinery."

I was dumbfounded by Noxik’s offer.

"Unbelievable. I suppose that’s typical of the Mechanicus..."

Titus, hearing this, cut in.

"Archmagos, this is no time for that. The Space Marines here can’t fight properly right now. If that artifact opens a Warp rift and Chaos invades, it’ll be a massacre."

"Oh, don’t worry. I have the artifact under control. Besides, this research was approved by the Primarch himself."

Titus looked shocked.

"That can’t be..."

Just then, I held up the artifact and asked,

"You mean this?"

While they were talking, I’d used [Jack Sparrow’s Compass], [Density Control], and [Teleportation] to snatch the artifact from nearby machinery in an instant.

Everyone stared at me in shock.

"How—this is impossible! Give it back!!!"

Ignoring Noxik, I examined the artifact slowly. It indeed contained enormous energy, constantly drawing power from somewhere—likely the Warp itself. Since I still didn’t understand psychic powers well, it was worth studying.

"Hmm... If mishandled, this could create a massive Warp gate. If that happened, all the Chaos forces in the Warp would pour out. I’m confiscating this."

I made up a flimsy excuse and stowed the artifact in my inventory.

"Damn it, my research! How did you take the artifact!"

"I sent it to another dimension—not the Warp, so don’t worry. Now neither the Imperium nor Chaos will ever find it."

Titus looked subtly relieved, while Noxik, enraged, ordered the Space Marines,

"Seize that man immediately!!"

Unable to ignore such a high-ranking order, the Space Marines hesitated, then moved to attack me. But I used [Telekinesis] to restrain them and walked over to Noxik, knocking him on the back of the head.

THWACK!

"Guh..."

"Fool. Would you only come to your senses after a massacre caused by your ignorance? No, you’d probably just call it a sacrifice for great research. Your kind is so predictable."

I scolded him, but honestly, I also wanted the artifact for myself, and I was giving back in return for granting them abilities—so I decided to leave it at that.

"I’ll be going now. Don’t worry about the Tyranids—I’ll clean them up before I leave."

As I was about to leave, Titus asked,

"Where are you going?"

"I don’t know—maybe explore nearby planets. And as long as they don’t attack first, I have no intention of opposing the Emperor. Keep that in mind."

With that, I flew into the sky and began clearing the planet of Tyranids, while also searching for the special Tyranid organism, the ’Neurothrope.’

Neurothropes are the Tyranid race’s psyker-equivalent organisms—based on how many appeared in the later stages of the game, there seemed to be quite a few. I wanted to extract abilities from them.

Bling~!

I traveled far and wide, using [Jack Sparrow’s Compass] to find Neurothropes and absorb their abilities. But I soon realized a disappointing fact: psychic power didn’t consist of independent abilities—it was simply based on Warp affinity.

The higher one’s affinity with the Warp, the more energy they could draw from it to manifest various supernatural powers. But in other worldlines without the Warp, the ability was completely useless. It was essentially a "worldline-bound ability."

’Hah... That’s really disappointing. I can’t help it—I’ll raise it to the cap and use it when I revisit Warhammer or combine it later.’

There was another problem: after the 87th, I couldn’t find any more Neurothropes on the ground—I’d absorbed all that had descended. So I went after the ’Hive Tyrant’ I’d spotted earlier.

The Hive Tyrant is a bio-titan that commands the swarm on behalf of the Hive Mind—a transcendent consciousness formed from layered Tyranid psyches. If this creature dies, the Tyranid organisms revert to instinctual beasts, rampaging chaotically or self-destructing.

As soon as I spotted it, I approached, used [Telekinesis] to immobilize it, absorbed its ability, then used the ’Eight’ technique of the [Eujuza] spell to slice it into molecules. The massive beast vanished without a trace, like dust scattering.

SHHHHHRRREEEEK—!!!

[[(C) Psyker] ability absorbed.]

[[(C) Psyker] absorbed into [(SSS) Psyker] ability.]

’Now at 1190... This is harder to raise than I thought.’

It seemed that completing the Sentry Serum in a single worldline would be difficult. I also discovered another limitation: once I absorbed an ability from a target, I couldn’t bestow it again or absorb it again from them. So no loopholes worked.

KABOOOM!!!

Suddenly, a massive explosion echoed as the sky turned red—the Tyranid Hive Ship had detonated. Titus’s team must have reclaimed the orbital defense battery and fired.

I watched for a moment, then a gate opened near me, and Chaos forces—Rubric Marines, sorcerers, and their commander Imurah—began emerging. These were Space Marines corrupted by Chaos, so their armor was similar.

"YOU!!! How dare you ruin my carefully laid plans!!! Where is the artifact!?"

Rather than panicking, I was overjoyed—I could absorb their abilities to further strengthen the Sentry Serum and also raise my [Psyker] ability.

"Oh~ What a blessing! Welcome!"

Bling~!

[[(SSS) Psyker] ability upgraded to [(EX) Psyker].]

"Damn it!!!"

Of course, they were no match for me. I gleefully absorbed their abilities. They panicked—after losing their powers, even if they returned to the Chaos stronghold, they’d be treated as mere daemons.

"Hey, call more. Got any more? No? Then die."

"Damn you!!!"

SHING—SHING—SHING—!!!

THUD! THUD!

I casually used the ’Release’ technique of the [Eujuza] spell to carve them apart. [(EX) Psyker] was indeed good—I could draw almost infinite energy from the Warp. The downside was that it was Warhammer-universe exclusive.

Upon examining the Warp energy, I found it heavily corrupted, so I only drew what I needed and converted it into the energy I wanted using [(EX) Energy Manipulation], without any intention of keeping it.

I teleported far into space, drew Warp energy, and used [Matter Creation] to forge planetary-scale gold bricks and store them in my inventory. Opportunities to use infinite energy like this were rare, so I decided to stockpile materials while I could.

From a distance, it would have looked bizarre—planets appearing and disappearing in succession. From my perspective, it was just walls of gold materializing and vanishing before me.

After a while, I grew tired of it and terminated the Warhammer world.
