Chapter 1069: Chapter 1069: Evening Star Arc, I Believe in You

As Stella Charlie pushed the door open, the girl across the room was just carrying a basin of water to Stella’s bedside.

The girl froze for a moment, then, right in front of Stella Charlie, poured all the water from the basin onto the bed covers: "You’re just in time, we all know about your mess."

Stella Charlie clenched her hands into tight fists. Usually unwilling to argue with others, she chose once again to endure silently.

This girl’s action seemed to embolden the other two, who saw Stella Charlie as an easy target and went over to throw everything off her desk onto the floor: "Get your filthy stuff out of here, and scram!"

"With so many rich men keeping you, you must have other places to stay, right? So stop wallowing in this little dorm, suffering grievances."

"Exactly, we can’t accommodate such a big shot like you!"

Seeing Stella Charlie stand still, the group started pushing her, shoving her outside the door, and throwing all her belongings at her.

People from the neighboring dorms heard the commotion and came out to watch the spectacle.

Upon seeing that the one being bullied was Stella Charlie, no one came forward to stop it; instead, they seemed to think this was justice being served.

Stella Charlie silently picked up the books from the ground and left the dormitory building.

Standing under the dormitory building, she gazed at the brightly lit campus, feeling momentarily dazed.

Her family had abandoned her and hadn’t cared about her well-being since.

The university campus she had looked forward to was now playing out a similar nightmare.

"What are you doing here?" a soft male voice sounded behind her.

Stella Charlie turned her head to see Kai Jacobs, quickly turning back and bowing her head low.

Trying to wipe her tears, but she was unable to free her hands because she was holding heavy books.

Kai Jacobs walked up beside her, didn’t ask what had happened, just reached out to take the books she was holding.

Stella Charlie froze for a moment, then heard him say, "Wipe your tears."

Feeling a bit embarrassed, Stella Charlie hurriedly rubbed away her tears on the back of her hand.

"Is what they said... true?" Kai Jacobs asked softly.

Stella Charlie lowered her head, smiled bitterly, and said, "Whether it’s true or not, when enough people say it, it becomes more like the truth."

"Flies don’t target eggs with no cracks," she had heard this phrase countless times in high school.

Silent, Stella Charlie felt Kai Jacobs didn’t quite believe her either. She quickly reached out to take back the books: "...Thank you."

Kai Jacobs again took half of the books from her hands, solemnly saying expressionlessly, "I believe you."

Stella Charlie was stunned, as Kai Jacobs had already started walking ahead: "Follow me, let me take you to a place."

At a dessert shop by the street, the peak hours had already passed at this time, leaving only the staff inside with no other customers.

Sitting by the window seat, Stella Charlie watched as Kai Jacobs walked over from the counter carrying a small cake box.

"...Are you celebrating your birthday?"

Kai Jacobs shook his head, sitting next to Stella Charlie as he opened the cake box: "Nobody says you can only eat cake on your birthday."

"Eating something sweet when you’re not happy can lift your spirits."

Stella Charlie smiled bashfully, reached for the small spoon Kai Jacobs handed her, scooping a small amount of cream into her mouth.

Kai Jacobs just stared at her eyes without blinking.

"Aren’t you eating?"

Kai Jacobs smiled and shook his head: "I don’t like sweets."

Stella Charlie didn’t know why Kai Jacobs was so kind to her, but she indeed felt the warmth he brought.

Kai Jacobs kept looking at her, but Stella Charlie sensed that Kai Jacobs’ gaze wasn’t the kind of affection between a man and a woman.
