Chapter 1041: Chapter 1041: This Time I Believe He Didn’t Lie to Me

Everyone teased them, and Vanessa Sterling, whose face turned bright red, hurriedly pulled Miles Sterling outside: "Let’s go out for dinner."

"I’ll go get the car."

Vanessa obediently stood by the roadside waiting, the blush on her face lingering for a long time.

Just after getting in the car, Yvonne sent her a message: Teacher Sterling, make sure to remember what I said, keep an eye on the food, don’t get secretly drugged!

Vanessa glanced at Miles who was driving and replied to Yvonne: He won’t do that.

There was a time she might have considered both sides, thinking what Yvonne said could be a possibility.

But now, she had an inexplicable trust in Miles, believing he wouldn’t do such things.

Yvonne replied: You’re going to be the death of me! You’re too naive, that’s why people take advantage!

Vanessa chuckled and replied: I know you’re worried about me, but this time I trust that he didn’t deceive me.

Yvonne: What? This time? Did something happen before?

Vanessa: I’ll tell you when I get back.

Yvonne inferred from this that there was a story between them she didn’t know, so she didn’t nag Vanessa further.

"Vanessa."

Vanessa was startled, put down her phone, and looked at Miles.

Miles smiled at her and asked, "...Are you coming back to Rivia with me this weekend?"

"...Why? Is there something going on?"

Miles pursed his lips and said, "I’ve told my uncle about us, so I want to take you back for a visit. He really wants to meet you, and it’s been a while since you last went back."

Vanessa was silent for a moment. Noticing her expression, Miles said, "If you don’t want to go back, that’s okay. I’m just asking."

He knew that city held too many bad memories for her.

"Sure, it’s a good chance to see Audrey and the others."

Miles’s hands paused on the steering wheel, and then they exchanged a smile.

He realized that time apart might have been an opportunity for both of them to change and grow.

The Vanessa before him wasn’t the timid girl she once was. She now had her own unique confidence and charm, which made her even more alluring.

The trip back to Rivia was set for this Friday.

In the days leading up to Friday, the two behaved like any couple in love, finishing their tasks and then finding each other immediately after.

They texted each other in their spare moments, had meals together, watched movies, and took walks holding hands.

After a few days together, Vanessa became much more natural and less shy than before.

She responded more comfortably to the teasing from other teachers.

On Friday afternoon, Miles packed his things early and wandered around Vanessa’s gallery, waiting for her to finish her last class of the week.

Passing by the classroom, he heard Vanessa’s voice, walked over, and stood quietly at the doorway, watching her patiently teach the children how to draw.

Vanessa heard the students whispering, followed their gazes, and then noticed Miles standing by the door. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Vanessa smiled at him, and Miles gave her a thumbs up before stepping behind the wall, not wanting to disturb her class.

A little girl sitting in the front row giggled and said, "Teacher, your boyfriend is so handsome!"

The other children laughed along, and Vanessa ruffled the little girl’s hair, pretending to be stern as she said to the children, "Hurry up and draw, or you won’t be allowed to go home later."
