Chapter 895: Chapter 895: Liked Him Long Ago

She watched herself surrounded by reporters, only bowing her head silently.

After a long while, the reporters, having asked enough, gained nothing and left the hotel lobby.

Mrs. Kane watched all the reporters leave one after another, and her tense body suddenly collapsed to the floor.

"Aunt."

Nina Monroe hurriedly went over and helped Mrs. Kane up from the ground.

Mrs. Kane glared coldly at Nina Monroe, who had helped her up. Once stable, she gave Nina a harsh shove.

Nina was pushed fiercely, retreating continuously, and twisted one foot in her high heels, the piercing pain bringing tears to her eyes.

Bearing the pain, she caught up to Mrs. Kane.

Mrs. Kane ignored her, walking quickly, until she reached a secluded spot. She stopped, turned, and slapped Nina.

The slap was hard, leaving a clear handprint on Nina’s face.

Though the sky was dark, the handprint was starkly visible.

"Aunt!" Nina called out in grievance, looking up at Mrs. Kane with tears in her eyes.

Mrs. Kane didn’t respond and turned around to walk quickly forward.

"Mom!"

Nina called again.

Mrs. Kane stopped, her body trembled slightly.

"Shut up!"

Mrs. Kane turned back, glaring at Nina, with a hint of panic in her voice, fearing the reporters hadn’t actually left and might capture this scene.

"Mom!"

Nina didn’t shut up but called out again.

"Nina, do you want to destroy me?"

Mrs. Kane asked sternly, her voice lowered.

"I did not bring you up to go against me."

She had painstakingly cultivated Nina, invested so much time bringing Nina from the Monroe Family to the Kane Group, arranging Nina’s lifelong affairs.

In the end, the person who betrayed her was Nina.

"So why did you bring me into the world? To help you keep a man who doesn’t love you?"

Nina coldly laughed, echoing Mrs. Kane’s words, "To help you keep a man who doesn’t love you?"

As an onlooker, Nina saw the situation between Mrs. Kane and Felix Lockwood clearly.

Felix was not the kind of person who would have anything more with Mrs. Kane.

For so many years, he could pretend as if he had no daughter, and certainly did not stay with Mrs. Kane for Nina. Such a man wouldn’t change anything now just because Nina was marrying Wyatt Sterling.

"Shut up!"

Mrs. Kane shouted fiercely, "That’s your father."

"No." Nina replied with a faint smile, "I have no father, no mother."

"Mrs. Kane." Nina changed her tone, "I don’t want to stay here anymore."

She didn’t like the city of Imperial Capital much, and after experiencing matters with Wyatt, she wanted to leave even more.

Hearing that Nina wanted to leave, Mrs. Kane panicked, "Where are you going?"

"Nina, you can’t just leave me like this."

"I did all of this for your future. Dare you say you don’t like Wyatt?"

As a mother, how could Mrs. Kane not understand her daughter’s heart?

"Yes!"

Walking ahead, Nina turned her head at Mrs. Kane’s words, coldly answering, "Yes, I like Wyatt!"

"I fell in love when I was still a student."

She and Wyatt were classmates, but she had never said anything, and even Wyatt couldn’t remember her, it was always one-sided love.

One day, Mrs. Kane brought her to the Ford Family, attending various banquets, where she met Wyatt.

She thought she could get closer to the person she liked, hoping for a chance for him to fall for her.
