Chapter 1389: Chapter 1383: Second Uncle, You and Mom Truly Are a Loving Couple
Evander Lancaster leaned back on the sofa, putting his hands in the pockets of his casual pants. When he saw "Second Uncle" Joseph Lancaster walk through the door, he instinctively glanced behind him, not seeing his mother. His lips curled into a faint sneer.
"Where’s mom? Why didn’t she come back with you?"
Joseph Lancaster didn’t answer his question. He walked inside, tossed the car keys onto the coffee table, and sat down on the sofa. The two men, who looked almost identical, appeared as clones of each other when not smiling.
"Your mom is working at the company. Why would she come back with me?" Joseph Lancaster said as he sat down on the sofa.
It was clear that Joseph Lancaster seemed to be in a bad mood, yet Evander Lancaster continued with a smirk, "That’s not logical, Uncle. I remember ever since Dad passed away, wherever you and Mom went, you were inseparable. Why are you alone today?"
Joseph Lancaster suddenly turned his head, his sharp eyes glared at Evander, "Scoundrel! What do you mean by that?"
"What do I mean?" Evander retorted with a smirk, "Doesn’t Uncle know it himself? Everyone in the Lancaster Family knows that you’re Mom’s right-hand man. I suspect that the time Mom spends with you is more than with me and Dad."
"You little brat! That’s too much!" Joseph Lancaster’s voice grew more severe. Just as Violet Zimmerman walked to the door, she heard him arguing with her son. She quickly opened the door, and without waiting to enter, she anxiously said, "Evander, you mustn’t be rude to your uncle; it’s all Mom’s idea!"
Seeing his mother obviously siding with his uncle, Evander clicked his tongue a few times mockingly, "Oh, what a deep bond you two have. I just spoke the truth, and Uncle scolded me out of nowhere. Now, you’re backing him up. Mom, you and Uncle are truly a perfect match."
"Evander, what nonsense are you talking?" Violet Zimmerman walked in, closed the door tightly, and instinctively glanced around, afraid that the housemaids might hear her son’s words.
"This brat deserves a lesson!" Joseph Lancaster scolded in a lowered voice, seemingly worried that the housemaids might also hear.
Evander briefly smiled, met Joseph Lancaster’s warning gaze, and suddenly raised his voice to shout, "Aunt Zhang, Mrs. Xu, you two come out!"
"Yes, Second Young Master, here we come."
"Coming..." The two housemaids rushed out of their rooms and came over to Evander.
Seeing her son with a mocking smile, Violet Zimmerman felt a pang in her heart and lowered her voice in warning, "Evander, don’t mess around!"
Violet feared that her son called the maids to hear him spill her secrets.
Joseph Lancaster narrowed his eyes, tightly watching Evander.
Looking at the two’s tense demeanor, Evander smiled again, a soft snort escaping from his nose. Meeting Joseph Lancaster’s warning gaze, he instructed, "Aunt Zhang, Mrs. Xu, go guard the front door. I don’t want anyone coming in!"
"Yes, Second Young Master, we’re going." Aunt Zhang and Mrs. Xu glanced discreetly at Violet Zimmerman, and seeing that she didn’t stop them, they left one after the other.
"Alright, now there’s no one here. You two don’t have to be so anxious."
Evander always wore a smirk, with a sneer in his eyes.
"You brat! Spill it, what’s the reason for calling your mom and me back?"
Even though he just had a fight with Violet Zimmerman, when something happens, as the man, Joseph Lancaster still stood on his woman’s side.
"The reason, I think both of you are aware," Evander swept them an amused glance, appearing both nonchalant and profoundly significant.
