Chapter 1388: Chapter 1382: Quarrel

"Alright, have Assistant Zhang call Dominic Quinn later and tell him our company doesn’t plan to collaborate with theirs."

"Okay, I’ll leave it to you." Evander Lancaster kept a stern expression, his facial muscles taut.

"Will doing this create a significant loss for the company, Brother?"

"Heh, a bit of money doesn’t matter to me. Consider it compensation for you helping me crash the wedding back then!"

Evander Lancaster pursed his lips, "Then I’ll thank you, Brother. When the baby is born, I’ll give a big red envelope."

"We’re family, no need for thanks."

Ending the call with Nathan Moore, Evander Lancaster got up and left the café.

His mother was pressing him hard, and he didn’t want to delay any longer. Before, he had always thought that as long as no one interfered, he could live comfortably without disturbance. But now it seemed that without using his trump card, his mother would never let it rest.

He got into the driver’s seat, and before starting the engine, he called his uncle and mother to inform them that he needed to seriously discuss his "marriage" plans with them.

Evander Lancaster drove rapidly towards home, completely unaware that an hour earlier, after the press conference ended, a "war" had also erupted in his family’s company!

Joseph Lancaster was not informed about Violet Zimmerman calling a press conference on her own initiative, and at first, the eldest son, Robert Lancaster, thought it was to announce some major project. But when he saw his mother bringing Vanessa Quinn into the venue, it was too late to stop them.

Robert Lancaster hurriedly informed his "Uncle" Joseph Lancaster, and after the conference ended, the two had an argument.

Having been married in name only for over thirty years, they initially were forced together but grew fond of each other over time. Joseph Lancaster had never lost his temper with Violet Zimmerman.

He had witnessed how much hardship this woman endured in her youth, partly due to his elder brother’s illness, partly because of himself.

Back then, his elder brother was the Family Head, and his word was like an emperor’s decree that no member of the Lancaster Family could defy...

Because he personally witnessed Violet Zimmerman’s hardships, Joseph Lancaster silently vowed to treat her well for life. Yet, he never imagined that the woman he loved all these years, the matriarch of the Lancaster Family, would become so stubborn, announcing the matter behind her son’s back.

"Violet, you’ve let me down. Evander isn’t just anyone; he’s our son!" Joseph Lancaster sat in the chair, resting one hand on his forehead, his tightly shut eyes reflecting his pain.

Violet Zimmerman sat in her office chair, refusing to retreat. "Precisely because he is our son, I did so much for him. If it were a collateral child, I wouldn’t bother!"

"Violet, is a well-matched marriage more important than our son’s happiness?"

Joseph Lancaster lifted his head, his face no longer bearing a flourishing look, appearing haggard in just a few hours.

Seeing his haggard appearance pained Violet Zimmerman’s heart. She wanted to comfort him but told herself she couldn’t back down. If she retreated, all her plans for her son’s happiness would be for nothing.

Suppressing the heartache, Violet Zimmerman insisted, "How is it not important? In our Lancaster Family, haven’t all the children had well-matched marriages? When I married in, even though the Zimmerman Family wasn’t as affluent as the Lancasters, we were still a noble house!"

"So what? Did my brother love you? Was he good to you? Did he shield you more because you came from a noble family? Violet, stop deceiving yourself. For the Lancaster Family, as long as the children are happy, it outweighs everything."

Joseph Lancaster bitterly laughed, each of his questioning words cut into Violet Zimmerman’s ears like knives, piercing through layers of her pain.

The deeds of her husband, Daxton Lancaster, were vivid in her mind. Violet Zimmerman closed her eyes, once again suppressing her discomfort, speaking sharply when she reopened them.

"Joseph Lancaster! I’m managing my own son! I’m Evander’s mother, and everything is for his happiness. Do you think I’d push my own son into a fire pit?"

"Alright, alright," Joseph Lancaster laughed bitterly at himself. In that moment, he seemed aged, needing to support himself on the desk to stand, "Evander is your son, and you are the matriarch of the Lancaster Family, so I, as the uncle, have no right to say anything."

With that, Joseph Lancaster turned and slowly walked out of Violet Zimmerman’s office, his tall figure now hunched.

When he opened the office door, Violet Zimmerman’s lips moved several times, but she didn’t call out to him. The hand she reached out was withdrawn, clenched tightly.

She wanted to say that wasn’t her intention, but she just wanted her son to be happy.

At this time, the brothers from the collateral branch of the Lancaster Family were watching with amusement. Everyone in the family knew about Evander Lancaster keeping a woman outside.

Daemon Lancaster and his two sons sat on the office sofa, sipping tea and laughing, "Let’s just wait and see. Violet Zimmerman has really stirred things up; a woman shouldn’t try to compete in a man’s world. Now, she might become a laughing stock in the whole city of T."

"Exactly, Evander’s so stubborn. Back then, not even the company’s shares could threaten him. How could that stubborn mule let her manipulate him?" chimed in the eldest son, Maximilian Lancaster.

"Hmph, so let’s just wait for the show," Daemon Lancaster laughed coldly, placing his cup back on the low table, looking ahead, "Everyone knows about Vanessa Quinn. Once you provoke her, it’s much harder to get rid of her!"

"Dad, we don’t meddle; we just watch," Callum Lancaster added, the three of them gathered in Daemon Lancaster’s office, waiting to see the spectacle involving Evander Lancaster’s mother.

Just as Joseph Lancaster left Violet Zimmerman’s company, he received a call from Evander Lancaster, inviting him back to discuss "marriage" matters. Joseph intended to refuse, since Violet’s words had already gone that far. Yet, knowing his son’s character, he closed his eyes, sighed, and agreed, "Alright, I’ll be back later."

Receiving a call from Evander was precisely what Violet Zimmerman wanted. She had planned to call him. After hanging up, she immediately called an internal line to arrange for a driver to take her home for the discussion.

When Evander returned, Joseph Lancaster and Violet Zimmerman were still on their way. Violet’s extended Lincoln met Joseph’s car at a fork in the Lancaster family’s private residential area. Seeing Joseph’s car, the assistant in the passenger seat turned around to remind.

"Madam, that’s Master Joseph’s car."

Violet Zimmerman subconsciously looked over. Usually, when their cars met, Joseph would honk to greet her. This time, he accelerated directly, entering the exclusive road to the Lancaster family villa community first.

"Madam, this..." Seeing Joseph’s unusual behavior, the assistant turned back in confusion.

Violet Zimmerman appeared slightly embarrassed on the surface but managed to feign calmness and said, "Perhaps Master Joseph didn’t see us."

The assistant...

Madam’s car was so eye-catching. Could there be something wrong with Master Joseph’s eyesight?
