Chapter 1714: Chapter 1714: His Greatest Weakness (8)
The room was dimly lit. Yue Siqing came out of the bathroom, water still beading on his skin.
There was a cigarette caught between his long fingers. He stood at the window, his movements mechanical.
His room wasn’t far from Gu Anjin’s. If the two of them stood on their balconies at the same time, they could say hi to each other.
Only now, looking over at Gu Anjin’s room, the balcony’s sliding door was tightly shut, and even the curtains were drawn tight with no gap.
She really was starting to get rid of him.
Yue Siqing’s face was dark to a terrifying degree. The sharp, hidden pain in his chest made him want to rush straight into her room and use actions to tell her that in this lifetime she could forget about it.
But then that sentence echoed in his head: don’t force her to hate him.
That was his biggest weakness.
What he feared most was that she would hate him, that she wouldn’t love him.
He’d been avoiding the feelings between them all along, forcing himself over and over to keep that not-far-not-close distance from her. What he was afraid of... was exactly that one day she’d hate him.
Rather than have her hate him one day, it was better they stayed like this forever.

Gu Anjin found it very strange. She had thought she was definitely going to be up all night this time.
After all, she was clearly and openly cutting things off with Yue Siqing. This was something she’d never had the courage to do before.
But she hadn’t lost any sleep. On the contrary, she slept very deeply.
When she woke up, she still felt not quite clear-headed, like she was dreaming.
She lifted the blanket and got out of bed, took a deep breath, rolled her shoulders, pulled open the curtains, and stepped out to the balcony.
The morning air felt so good, all she could see was the green of the garden.
Suddenly, she felt a figure at the edge of her vision.
When she turned her head and saw Yue Siqing, she was genuinely stunned.
He was standing on his balcony, his gaze directed right toward her.
There was no expression at all on his face, just a hint of exhaustion.
Gu Anjin didn’t say anything, and of course she didn’t do what she usually did—waving and calling out to him across a few balconies the moment she saw him.
She really wanted to go back to when she was little, grab Yue Siqing’s little pigtail, and force him to sneak over the wall at night.
Back then she thought, maybe that’s how it felt when Romeo and Juliet first started too.
Thinking of these ridiculous thoughts, a trace of bitterness tugged at the corner of her lips.
What was the point of thinking about any of that now.
She’d already burned up too much time on Yue Siqing. It was time to give herself a little time that belonged only to her.
"Morning." She didn’t know how long it took before she finally greeted Yue Siqing.
His clothes... seemed to be the same as yesterday.
Gu Anjin figured she was probably seeing things, that they just looked similar.
After all, how could he possibly wear the exact same outfit two days in a row.
"Morning." She didn’t know how long it was before that deep voice finally came out of his mouth.
Gu Anjin smiled a little and said to him in the end, "I’m going down to eat."
Yue Siqing watched her back disappear from the balcony, and she didn’t even hesitate for a second.

"Mr. Yue? I don’t know." Gu Anjin said to the maid while eating breakfast, "Maybe he’ll come down in a while. But I don’t know when he plans to have breakfast today. I’m heading to school soon."
"Miss Jin, isn’t Mr. Yue driving you?" the maid asked in surprise.
Gu Anjin shook her head with a smile. "I’ll go myself. He’s busy with his own stuff."
The maid looked up and saw Yue Siqing walking over slowly.
"Mr. Yue."
Yue Siqing nodded and came forward, sitting down across from Gu Anjin.
Gu Anjin was almost done with breakfast. She wiped her mouth and said to him, "Brother Siqing, I’m heading out."
