Chapter 508: Langhuan Immortal Ring Reveals Its Power
The more Marcus examined the green jade ring, the more convinced he became that it was anything but ordinary. Its color was a deep, muted green, flawless from edge to edge without the slightest impurity. The jade itself felt smooth and cool against his fingertips, the kind of texture only the finest quality stone possessed. It reminded him of a well-aged vintage; at first glance it seemed understated, almost plain, but the longer you appreciated it, the more its hidden depth revealed itself.
Faint ancient runes and delicate patterns were carved across the ring’s surface. The lines themselves were simple, yet paired with the dark green jade, they created an air of quiet elegance that felt timeless rather than extravagant. It was the sort of beauty that never needed to demand attention.
The longer Marcus studied those weathered markings, the more he admired the craftsmanship. Every line looked effortless, yet each carried incredible precision. It was simple without being plain, refined without feeling delicate, as though every stroke had been made by the hands of a true master.
Judging by both the carving style and the archaic symbols, Marcus was certain of one thing: this jade ring came from an unimaginably ancient era.
After everything he had experienced over the past year, especially everything he’d witnessed with his own eyes, denying the impossible was no longer an option. The gods and immortals spoken of in ancient myths hadn’t simply been inventions; they had existed.
Unfortunately, aside from the strange runes, which were older than any written language he recognized, the ring offered no obvious clues. No matter how carefully he examined it, he couldn’t determine its purpose.
Just as he was about to give up, something suddenly changed: the ancient symbols he couldn’t understand seemed to come alive, flowing through his mind like moving water, exactly like the night Human Rock had first appeared in his dreams. In that brief instant, the unfamiliar script became perfectly clear, and the words escaped his lips almost unconsciously.
"Langhuan Immortal Ring."
Marcus froze.
It had to be because of Human Rock, or more specifically, because of the Celestial Prismatic Jade. Somehow, it allowed him to comprehend ancient writing that should have been completely impossible to read.
This ring was called the Langhuan Immortal Ring, and that wasn’t all. The moment he understood its name, an even greater flood of knowledge poured directly into his mind.
Langhuan Immortal Ring: Forged by the ancient Olympian Sect’s Master Half-Brow of the Hermetic Order at the request of Lady Rouyu, beloved daughter of the Sky Mother. The ring was carved from the supreme Langhuan Jade King, discovered by Lady Rouyu within the Langhuan Jade Palace. It was later enshrined in the Whispering Nunnery to absorb sacred chants for five hundred years before being placed at the Celestial Gate to gather the Five Elemental Energies for another five hundred years. Only then was this Divine Artifact complete.
Ability: Transcends the Five Elements. Capable of absorbing and storing any physical object. Storage capacity and maximum size depend on the user’s inner energy.]
Marcus stared at the ring resting in his palm, his thoughts grinding to a halt, his eyes fixed on it and his mouth hanging slightly open as he struggled to process everything that had just appeared in his mind.
"How... is that even possible?"
The words slipped out almost in a whisper.
He wasn’t just shocked by the information itself. What truly unsettled him was the fact that he somehow understood it instinctively, as though the ring had spoken directly to his consciousness.
So it really was true: the immortals of ancient history had once walked this world.
Perhaps reality wasn’t exactly as later generations had described it, but after thousands of years of retelling, it was only natural that myths would become distorted.
Marcus lowered his gaze to the Langhuan Immortal Ring once more. It had originally belonged to Lady Rouyu, and for reasons he couldn’t begin to guess, she had sealed it away, disguising it as nothing more than an ordinary green jade bead. Now that seal had been broken, the ring had returned to its true form... and somehow, it had accepted him as its new owner.
Even so, another question quickly surfaced: being able to read the runes because of Human Rock made sense, but where had the rest of the knowledge come from? The ring’s history, its abilities, even the method for using it certainly weren’t carved onto its surface. So how did he know all of that? The answer was something Marcus had never even heard of: Divine Sense.
Without realizing it, he had awakened an ability that only genuine gods and the highest divine beings could possess.
In the ancient path of cultivation, one’s progression followed a strict order: Mortal → Warrior → Cultivator → Half-Immortal → Immortal → Golden Immortal → Divine Being → True God → Saint.
Anyone who reached the Immortal Realm or beyond was broadly referred to as an immortal. Immortals and Golden Immortals cultivated Immortal Sense, while Divine Beings and True Gods cultivated Divine Sense. As for Saints, no one truly knew; throughout countless ages, only seven or eight had ever existed, placing them so far beyond ordinary understanding that even legends struggled to describe them.
Marcus had cultivated Human Rock for barely a year, and his inner energy was still relatively weak. However, he possessed something no ordinary cultivator could ever hope to obtain: the Celestial Prismatic Jade, a supreme treasure born naturally by the heavens themselves.
When its golden light had transformed his body, combined with his extraordinary talent and unique constitution, his consciousness had undergone a miraculous leap, reaching the level of a newly ascended Divine Being. His cultivation remained that of a mere cultivator, but his consciousness had already crossed into an entirely different realm.
Lady Rouyu, the Langhuan Immortal Ring’s original owner, had once been a Golden Immortal, and after carrying the artifact for centuries, traces of her Immortal Sense naturally lingered within it. Marcus’s newly awakened Divine Sense had instinctively detected those lingering fragments, and since Lady Rouyu had never intentionally hidden them, they revealed the ring’s history, abilities, and method of use the moment his consciousness made contact.
Marcus knew none of this. If he had understood what Divine Sense truly was, he would have realized he could use it to cultivate Human Rock at an astonishing speed. But right now, those thoughts were the furthest thing from his mind; his attention was completely captured by the ancient Divine Artifact resting on his finger.
Where had the ancient immortals gone? Why had beings powerful enough to create treasures like this vanished from history, leaving behind only scattered legends?
The questions lingered in his mind, but no answers came. It was as though something remained hidden beyond his current ability to perceive.
After a moment, Marcus let out a quiet breath and pushed the mysteries aside. There would be time for answers later; right now, he had something far more exciting to test.
He slipped the ring onto his finger, circulated his Human Rock energy through it, and recited the activation incantation that had appeared in his mind, then pointed toward the wooden table standing in the middle of the living room.
"Store."
Whoosh.
The table disappeared instantly.
There was no flash of light, no explosion of energy, not even the slightest sound. One moment it was there; the next, it was gone without leaving so much as a trace, safely stored inside the Langhuan Immortal Ring.
Marcus blinked once before a grin spread across his face. "This is incredible." His excitement quickly got the better of him.
He immediately began testing the ring on everything else in the room: the couch, the chairs, the cabinets. Every single attempt succeeded flawlessly.
Within minutes, the once fully furnished living room had been completely emptied, every piece of furniture neatly stored inside his newly acquired Langhuan Immortal Ring.
