Chapter 2447: Chapter 2450: I Really Don’t Want This So-Called Favor
"I didn’t expect you, little guy, to reach the Divine Infant Realm Peak so quickly."
Jin Ming looked at Jiang Chen with satisfaction, "There’s still six months until the matter I mentioned. Just right, this necrotic tide should last six months too. You can go to the plains for a trial."
"Alright!"
Jiang Chen lightly nodded.
Whoosh!
Jin Ming took a compass out of his pocket and tossed it to Jiang Chen, "This is a locational compass made by our clan. Its detection range can reach a hundred miles. If you encounter danger, you can channel your divine sense into it, and others, even if they’re not within those hundred miles, can receive general location information and come to the rescue."
"Once you enter the plains, if you encounter those few young ones from our clan, you can look after each other."
"Okay!"
Jiang Chen reached out and caught the compass.
After a few words, Jiang Chen and his companion rose to take their leave.
Their trip was merely to greet Jin Ming and let him know that Jiang Chen had reached the Divine Infant Realm Peak.
Leaving the room, Jiang Chen and his companion headed straight to the second floor.
"It seems there’s trouble again."
Just as they reached the second floor, Yan Hu whispered.
Jiang Chen looked up and slightly furrowed his eyebrows.
In a corner of the second floor, Jin Hu sat on the northern side of a table, his face somewhat gloomy, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, with his three team members standing behind him, looking as if they wanted to speak but dared not.
On the other three sides of the table sat five youths, both men and women, dressed in luxurious clothing. These five were the same people who had greeted Chen Kang through the window when Jiang Chen and the others were at the tavern entrance.
"Captain Jin Hu."
Jiang Chen softly called out as he stepped forward, with Yan Hu following closely behind him.
Hearing the call, Jin Hu glanced up, secretly breathed a sigh of relief, and quickly got up to greet them.
The five youths at the table glanced at Jiang Chen with a peculiar look, exchanged glances, and got up to walk toward Jiang Chen and his companion.
"Brother Jiang."
Jin Hu came up to Jiang Chen and whispered, "These five are disciples from one of the twelve sects of the inner circle, the Spirit Sword Sect. They want us to go into the forsaken plains with them."
Jiang Chen blinked, looked at the approaching five and asked Jin Hu in confusion, "What’s the matter?"
If it was just about traveling together, Jin Hu wouldn’t be this nervous.
"These disciples from the major sects want us to go with them to be pathfinders and risk our lives, offering spirit stones in exchange for the necro spheres we obtain, but at a ridiculously low rate! Moreover, for some reason, they specifically named you to go in with them."
Jin Hu explained in a low voice.
"They specifically named me to go in with them?"
Jiang Chen was taken aback, surprised as he looked at the five young men and women who had approached.
"This brother here, I am Zhang Chuzhi of the Spirit Sword Sect. These are my junior disciples."
The slightly older young man among the five stepped forward, cupping his fists towards Jiang Chen.
"I am Jiang Chen, what do you need?"
Jiang Chen returned the gesture with a respectful nod.
"My brothers and sisters and I want to enter the forsaken plains for some training, but since it’s our first visit, we need a guide. We hope that you, brother, can lead us there, and the reward will surely satisfy you!"
Zhang Chuzhi smiled as he spoke.
"Brother Zhang, you’ve misunderstood. I’ve only been here for the second time myself, so I’m afraid I can’t guide you."
Jiang Chen softly explained, gently refusing.
Zhang Chuzhi’s eyes narrowed slightly as he spoke meaningfully, "Brother Jiang, you seem too modest. Even if this is your second time entering the forsaken plains, you must be quite familiar with it, right?"
Jiang Chen was slightly stunned, a surprised look flashed across his eyes. What did Zhang Chuzhi mean? Could he possibly know that Elder Jin once gave me information about the forsaken plains?
"Brother Jiang, we don’t mean anything else, we just want you to help us find the remains of our sect’s ancestor."
Seeing Jiang Chen fall silent, Zhang Chuzhi continued, "Our sect’s ancestor fought to death here in the forsaken plains against the extraterritorial alien race many years ago, and fell in the forsaken plains. We are here to retrieve the ancestor’s remains, and we hope Brother Jiang could help us a bit."
"The ancestor’s remains? I don’t know where your ancestor’s remains are."
Jiang Chen was somewhat bewildered, unable to figure out what Zhang Chuzhi meant.
"Brother Jiang really doesn’t know? Haven’t those behind the Forsaken Tavern told Brother Jiang about the locations of the various relics deep in the forsaken plains?"
Zhang Chuzhi chuckled, giving a hint.
A knowing look flashed in Jiang Chen’s eyes, as he amusingly looked at Zhang Chuzhi. This guy went such a long way around, crafting such a dignified reason, only to want to learn from me the locations of the relics known by the Gold-devouring Rat Clan in the forsaken plains.
"Brother Zhang, I do know of a few relics in the forsaken plains."
Jiang Chen spoke with a light smile.
The five of Zhang Chuzhi’s eyes lit up as they stared intently at Jiang Chen, a glint of greed in their eyes.
"However, the relics I know of can all be traced, and as far as I know, none of them contain your sect’s ancestor’s remains. Sorry, I can’t help you much there!"
Jiang Chen nodded apologetically to the five of Zhang Chuzhi.
"You..."
Zhang Chuzhi’s expression changed, and he said coldly, "Whether our ancestor’s remains are there needs to be seen, kindly lead us there, Brother Jiang!"
"All this talk of ancestor’s remains is a fabrication on your part, isn’t it? Are all you so-called major sects this hypocritical? You want to forcefully snatch information and still talk in such a grand manner! It’s really laughable!"
Jiang Chen looked at Zhang Chuzhi and sneered.
"Kid, we’re willing to enter the forsaken plains together with you as a courtesy, don’t be ungrateful!"
A young man behind Zhang Chuzhi shouted coldly.
"Sorry, but I don’t want that courtesy!"
Jiang Chen spoke indifferently and turned to call on Jin Hu, "Captain Jin Hu, let’s go."
"Alright!"
Jin Hu nodded in response.
"Kid, don’t think that just because you know people at this tavern we won’t dare touch you, our Spirit Sword Sect is not afraid of this Forsaken Tavern!"
Zhang Chuzhi spoke deeply, staring intently into Jiang Chen’s eyes, which were filled with frost.
Jiang Chen, as if he hadn’t heard, walked on his own towards the staircase, Yan Hu shot a cold glance at Zhang Chuzhi and the others, and stepped forward to follow.
Jin Hu hesitated for a moment, gritted his teeth, and also followed towards the staircase.
"Brother Zhang, are we just going to let them go like that?"
The young man who had verbally reprimanded Jiang Chen earlier whispered.
"This is the Forsaken Tavern, though we are not afraid, we still can’t make a move here. Not only here, but the whole forsaken town is also under the domain of the Gold-devouring Rat Clan. That kid has an unusual relationship with them, making a move in the town might provoke the clan and cause unnecessary trouble."
Zhang Chuzhi gently reminded and then stated with a cold gleam in his eyes, "However, once we’re in the forsaken plains, there will be no worries!"
