Chapter 245: The start of a new arc 3.

Su Yubing’s sword intent swept out in a silver arc so cold and sharp that the ground split beneath it. The wolf king twisted in midair, but one side of its body still burst open in a spray of black blood.

Mo Yuxin moved with less visible force and somehow even more terror. One moment she stood smiling; the next she was among the wolves, palm strikes dropping them like paper figures. Spiritual flames coiled along her fingers, burning away corrupt qi wherever they touched.

The battle lasted less than the time needed to boil tea.

The disciples barely got to participate.

When the last wolf fell twitching into the leaves, Mo Yuxin brushed dirt from her sleeve and looked around. "Done."

One disciple stared at the ruin around them. "That... that was incredibly fast."

Su Yubing flicked blood from her blade. "Too slow. The leader was unstable."

Mo Yuxin laughed. "My wife is saying it should have died in one move."

The disciples looked at one another and wisely kept silent.

They searched deeper into the forest and found the cause soon enough: a cracked stone buried in an old cave, leaking dark and chaotic energy. Some ancient remnant. Some bad luck. In another place it might have created only a nuisance. In a weak region like Azure Dragon City, it had been enough to drive nearby beasts mad.

Su Yubing destroyed it.

On the way back, the disciples treated the two of them with even more awe than before. By the time they returned to the city, rumors had already outrun them.

Within two days, the whole city was saying that the newly married couple had gone on a casual stroll and slaughtered a beast tide like they were harvesting vegetables.

Mo Yuxin found that hilarious.

Su Yubing did not deny it.

Their lives settled again after that, though "settled" for them still included quite a lot. They helped reorganize some of the Su family’s defenses, not because the Su family lacked methods, but because those methods were far too weak for the kind of dangers the future might bring.

At night, after meetings with elders and inspections of warehouses and training grounds, they returned to their room exhausted in the pleasant way that came from useful work.

One evening, after bathing, Su Yubing sat before the mirror while Mo Yuxin dried her hair with spiritual energy.

Su Yubing watched her reflection. "You don’t have to do that every time."

"But I like doing it."

"You also like making the servants nervous by taking over their work."

Mo Yuxin leaned down and kissed the top of her head. "That’s because they think I’ll break some priceless antique vase or seduce the matriarch away from her duties."

"Would you?"

"I’ve already done the second one."

Su Yubing turned slightly, catching Mo Yuxin’s wrist. "And the first?"

Mo Yuxin thought for a moment. "Only by accident."

Su Yubing almost smiled. "That is not reassuring."

Mo Yuxin finished drying her hair, then loosely braided part of it with fingers far gentler than anyone would expect from someone who fought like a natural disaster. Afterward she rested her chin on Su Yubing’s shoulder and looked at them in the mirror together.

"Wife."

"Hm?"

"When we leave this time, it might be longer than before."

"I know."

"You don’t seem worried."

Su Yubing met her eyes in the mirror. "Because you’re with me."

That answer hit harder than any love confession shouted beneath the heavens ever could.

Mo Yuxin’s expression softened completely. She bent and kissed the side of Su Yubing’s neck, slow and lingering. "You’re really unfair."

"How?"

"You say things like that and expect me to sleep peacefully?"

Su Yubing turned fully then, one hand rising to the back of Mo Yuxin’s neck. "Who said anything about sleeping?"

That night, the candles burned down to nothing.

By the time moonlight shifted across the floor, the bed curtains were half undone again, and the room was full of quiet breathing, warmth, and the kind of deep, private peace that only came after want had been answered again and again with trust.

In the weeks that followed, they began the more serious part of preparation.

The next Shenghuo Menkou would not be easy to find, much less survive. The trials tied to inheritance power were never simple. If they were going to leave Azure Dragon City again, they had to make sure their families would be safe without them.

For the Mo family, things were both easier and harder.

Easier, because Shen Mingyue was there.

Harder, because Shen Mingyue was leaving too.

The decision was made one evening when all of them sat together for dinner in the Mo residence.

Mo Feng had fallen asleep halfway through eating and was drooping against Mo Lan’s side. Shen Mingyue looked at the child for a long moment, then raised her eyes to Mo Yuxin.

"I will take your mother and Mo Feng to the Central Continent soon after you leave."

Mo Lan’s fingers tightened slightly around her chopsticks, but she did not object.

Mo Yuxin set down her cup. "You’ve decided."

Shen Mingyue nodded. "Azure Dragon City is peaceful now, but it is still too weak a place. Mo Lan’s memory may recover slowly with time, or it may need certain places, certain people, certain old traces from our past. Those are not here."

Mo Lan lowered her gaze. There was no sadness in her expression exactly, but there was uncertainty. "I don’t want to become a burden."

"You never were one," Shen Mingyue said instantly.

The room went quiet.

The words had come too fast, too raw to be disguised.

Mo Lan looked up, startled.

Shen Mingyue exhaled and her tone gentled. "Coming with me is not an obligation. It is only... where I can protect you best."

Mo Feng stirred sleepily and mumbled, "Mama, don’t be sad."

Mo Lan smiled helplessly and smoothed her daughter’s hair.

Mo Yuxin looked between them and finally said, "Then go."

Both women looked at her.
