Chapter 59: Compensation
Carter looked back at Calvin and asked, "Is there anything else you want to include in the reply?"
Calvin nodded and said, "Also ask if there is anything Asher would like as compensation for this incident. We cannot allow a future powerhouse to develop bad feelings toward us."
Carter nodded and went to deliver the message to Aron.
It did not take long for Aron to receive the message.
After reading it, he sighed in relief after seeing the Silvermere family’s response, knowing there would likely be no future trouble.
As for the compensation, he simply called Asher and asked if there was anything he wanted.
After hearing Asher’s request, Aron was not even surprised by his choice of compensation.
He then sent a reply containing Asher’s demands.
Roughly an hour later, at the Silvermere family estate
Calvin was resting in his room when there was a knock on the door.
"Come in," he said.
Carter entered the room.
Calvin looked at him and asked, "So, what does Asher want as compensation? I hope it is not something unreasonable."
Carter hesitated for a moment before replying, "Asher wants early access to the new VR game we are developing in cooperation with the Velmora family. He also wants us to add some additional features to it."
For a moment, the room fell silent.
Calvin looked at Carter with a strange expression before asking, "That’s all he wanted?"
Carter nodded. "Yes."
Calvin rubbed his forehead and let out a tired sigh.
" That boy only asked for early access to a game?" he muttered.
Carter hesitated for a moment before replying, "He also requested a few additional features to be added."
Calvin waved his hand dismissively. "That does not matter. Those things can easily be arranged."
Then he paused for a moment before speaking again.
"Honestly, this is far better than I expected. I thought he would ask for resources, money, or some political favor."
Carter nodded in agreement. "It seems Asher was never interested in those things from the beginning."
Calvin leaned back in his chair and sighed in relief.
"Good. Then make sure his requests are fulfilled properly. I do not want any mistakes in this matter."
Meanwhile, at the Academy.
Cedric was in his room when he received the message about all his financial support from the family being cut off until he reached Master rank.
After reading the message, Cedric’s expression changed instantly.
Then he said in disbelief, "What kind of joke is this?"
He quickly read the message again, hoping he had read something wrong, but the contents remained the same.
No more financial support.
No more extra resources.
The family would also not provide him any external help unless his life was truly in danger.
Cedric clenched his fists tightly in anger.
Then he threw the communication device onto the bed in frustration.
For someone like him who had lived with luxury and endless resources since childhood, this punishment was far worse than he expected.
More importantly, reaching Master rank was not something that could be achieved in a short amount of time.
Cedric’s expression became uglier and uglier as he thought about it.
Then he said angrily, "They are seriously doing this just because of that bastard Asher?"
At that moment, another message appeared on his communication device.
Cedric immediately picked it up and read it, hoping the family had changed their decision.
But after reading the contents, his expression froze.
The message only contained a single sentence.
"Do not cause any more trouble for the family."
Cedric stared at the message silently for a few seconds.
Then he laughed coldly.
"So in the end they still chose that outsider over me," he muttered.
Then he clenched his fists tightly and his expression became filled with hatred and unwillingness.
Ever since childhood, this was the first time he had received such punishment from the family.
And all of it started because of Asher.
But as soon as he remembered Asher and what he had done to him, his anger and hatred vanished, and fear took its place.
Cedric’s expression changed instantly.
The rage in his eyes faded, replaced by hesitation and unease.
"...That guy," he muttered.
Just the memory of Asher was enough to silence all his thoughts of revenge.
His fists slowly loosened as he stood there, unsure of what to do next.
For the first time, he felt that going against Asher was not just difficult... it was dangerous.
In the cafeteria.
Asher was having lunch with his teammates when his mobile phone received a notification.
He then looked at the message he had received from Aron regarding his request for compensation.
After reading it, he had a smile on his face, a normal smile.
Noticing this smile, Aria looked at him and asked, "What was it that made you so happy after reading it?"
Then Noah asked with a mischievous smile, "What, did you get a proposal from some girl that you’re this happy?"
At this, all three of them turned towards him, all of them with blank expressions.
Noah became nervous and said, "I was just joking, why are you getting so serious?"
Then Adam said, "Because it wasn’t even a good joke. It was just nonsense, nothing more."
Then Asher said, "Yeah, why would any girl propose to me knowing my personality? And if someone did, then she would probably be a patient who has escaped from a mental hospital".
Then for a moment, the table went silent.
Aria stared at Asher for a few seconds before shaking her head slightly.
"You really don’t think highly of yourself, do you?" she said calmly.
Asher shrugged and continued eating. "I’m just being realistic."
Then Adam said to Noah, "Look, he even proved it by talking like this, so don’t joke about it again. It’s too weird to imagine this idiot dating some girl."
Noah raised his hands slightly in surrender. "Alright, alright, I get it."
Aria glanced at Adam and Noah, then back at Asher. "You all talk like it’s impossible."
