Chapter 146: Face

Then Solarius handed off the task of finding a suitably crazy master-rank healer to other members of the Church, while he himself focused on the matter of Voltaris.

...

At Night

8 PM

Aetherium Academy

Cafeteria

As he did every day, Asher arrived at the cafeteria before his teammates. He took his food from the counter and walked toward his usual table, only to find Adam already sitting there with his meal.

Asher sat down across from him and asked, "Why are you early today? Something special going on — is it Useless People Day or something?"

Adam looked at Asher with a strange expression. "What Useless People Day?" He paused for a moment, then continued, "No, wait — even if something like that existed, what would it have to do with me coming early?"

But Asher, who had asked the question, wasn’t even listening anymore and was already eating his dinner.

Adam just sighed and started eating as well, though he kept glancing toward the cafeteria entrance, as if waiting for someone to arrive.

After a while, Aria joined them, and shortly after, Noah entered the cafeteria and took his seat as well.

The moment he sat down, Adam looked at Asher and asked in an excited tone, "So, Asher — you were about to tell us about that girl earlier but didn’t have time since we had class after. We’re free now, so tell us everything, in detail."

Aria showed no reaction and simply continued eating.

Asher looked up from his food and was about to speak.

But then Noah suddenly opened his mouth, about to say something himself.

Before he could get a word out, Adam grabbed a whole apple from his plate and shoved it into Noah’s mouth. "Just keep your mouth shut. I’ve already waited long enough — I can’t wait any longer." Then he turned back to Asher with a grin. "Asher, please continue."

Asher continued, "I don’t really know her name. I just know her facial features."

Adam looked at Asher and said, "Nothing surprising about that — you’d probably forget my family name by now too. Just tell me the facial features; I know the face and every other detail of every girl in our class," while his hand was still shoving the apple into Noah’s mouth.

...

Everyone went quiet. Adam looked at the three of them — Aria was staring at him with a sharp gaze and a hint of disgust on her face.

He then looked at Noah, who still had the apple in his mouth, but whose eyes seemed to say,’ What a creepy noble’.

Asher’s expression remained the most normal of the three, and he simply said, "Useless creepy stalker."

Adam looked down and muttered under his breath, "Shit, that really did sound creepy now that I think about it." Then he looked back up and said hurriedly, "Don’t misunderstand — it’s not what you think. It was purely for educational purposes."

...

The moment Adam realized what he’d just said, he cursed himself internally. ’What the hell are you saying, you idiot? Educational purposes? Have you lost your mind?’He hurriedly tried to defend himself. "I just misspoke. I didn’t mean anything wrong by it, you know."

No one said anything. The silence felt heavy, especially under the gaze of Aria and Noah. Adam then looked at Asher and asked, hoping to disperse the tension by changing the subject, "So, what did she look like?"

Asher looked at Adam for a moment and said, "She has red hair and black eyes," then went back to eating.

Everyone stared at him, as if waiting for him to continue. Asher looked at them and said, "Why are you looking at me like that? I already told you her features."

Adam looked at Asher and thought, Who the hell describes physical features like that? That’s basically the same as saying nothing at all.

Then Noah, who still had the apple Adam had shoved into his mouth, pushed Adam’s hand away and looked at Asher and said in a annoyed tone"Who the hell describes someone like that?.She has shoulder-length red hair that falls in soft waves, and her black eyes are sharp enough to make it feel like she’s reading your thoughts. Her skin is pale, her features are delicate but striking, and she’s a little shorter than Aria with a slim build. Even when she’s standing still, she has the kind of presence that makes people notice her right away"

Adam listened to the whole thing and then said, "Ohh, it’s Seraphine Ignivar? That’s surprising."

Noah, who had just said the whole thing in anger, realized just what he’d said and looked at Adam, then said with a face full of embarrassment, "It’s not what you’re thinking, we’re just friends, nothing more."

Adam just made a smug expression and was just about to say something, but then Asher spoke before him, "I also said the same thing, you just added useless information, nothing more."

Noah then looked towards Asher and said in an annoyed tone, "What useless information? This is how normal people explain things to others and also picture them."

Asher looked at Noah and said in a confused tone, "Really? I thought everyone also thought like me. Well, at least now I know, if she’s ever committed a crime, whom to suggest to the police for getting a sketch of her."

The moment Asher finished speaking, the table went silent again.

Noah stared at him with an expression that clearly said "What is wrong with you?"

Adam, on the other hand, burst out laughing.

"Hahaha! That’s actually a terrifying use for Noah’s talent, the police should hire him"

Noah immediately shot him an annoyed glare.

"Shut up."

Asher then looked at Noah, then Adam, then Aria, and asked, "Do you guys first think of people’s physical features when you think about them, or when someone mentions their name?"

Everyone looked at Asher weirdly, and then Noah replied, "Of course, or what else would you think of first?"
