Chapter 143: Weird
After some time, Aurelius looked at the man in charge of the Reaper Guild and said, "Now you can go, and don’t forget to deliver the message I told you to Lucian and Church."
The man just nodded, then bowed and left, leaving Aurelius alone in the room.
Meanwhile, at Aetherium Academy’s cafeteria, Asher and his teammates had already gotten their food and were now sitting and eating.
Asher ate his fruit salad quietly, and everyone else was eating their food as well.
Then Adam looked at Asher and opened his mouth to ask something, but closed it again, as if hesitating. After a moment, he finally said, "Hey, Asher."
As soon as he called Asher’s name, Asher looked at him and said, "Yeah?" after eating the grapes in his hand.
Adam thought, I know it’s probably some weird reason, but I still can’t help feeling curious. Then he came out of his thoughts and asked instantly, without any hesitation, "Why did you attend all the classes today?"
Aria and Noah, who were quietly eating their food, also focused on the conversation because they were curious too, but didn’t ask, thinking it was probably something useless.
Asher looked at Adam and said in a flat tone, "It wasn’t really something important. I was just curious about something, since a certain someone was acting weird after coming back from the trip to Elyndor Academy, so I just decided to observe the whole class to find out what it was. Nothing more."
As soon as Asher finished speaking, Aria started eating her food again, as if losing interest in the conversation.
But Adam instantly looked toward Noah, because he was sure that the "certain someone" was Noah — that guy had absolutely been acting weird. Whenever Adam asked him about it, though, Noah wouldn’t tell him anything. Adam was sure of what it was, but he didn’t know who.
Noah looked at Asher, then at Adam, and said nervously, "Why are you looking at me? I’m not acting weird, it’s noth—"
Adam didn’t even let Noah finish before asking Asher, "So, what did you find? Even though you’re an idiot, you’re also an assassin, so I’m sure you must have found the reason, right?"
Asher picked up one more grape and said, "Of course I found out. It was really easy, but I was disappointed by what I found — I thought it would be something more interesting." Then he ate the grape.
As soon as Asher finished his sentence, Noah’s body froze, while Adam had a weird smile on his face. Adam then took his glass of juice and started drinking it, looking at Asher as if some interesting movie was about to happen and he was enjoying it with his juice.
Asher continued with an indifferent expression, "But it’s just that a certain someone seems to have entered his mating season, nothing more—"
Before Asher could finish what he was saying, Adam, who was in the middle of drinking his juice, spurted it out — straight toward Asher and Aria, who were sitting across from him.
The juice was just about to hit Aria and Asher and the food on the table, but before it could, it froze mid-air, and then all of it flew back into the glass in Adam’s hand, without a single drop touching the food, Aria, or Asher.
The culprit behind the accident looked at the glass in his hand, now full of juice again.
His face then drained of color, and he instantly looked toward the food on the table. Only after checking that nothing had happened to it did his expression return to normal. He sighed in relief and muttered, "Thank God nothing happened to the food. For a second, I thought I was going to die today."
Noah, who was also looking at the food, said in a low tone, "Yeah, you really dodged death today."
Adam then looked up toward Aria, who was still calmly eating her food, as if she’d been certain the juice wouldn’t even touch her. He immediately apologized.
But Aria didn’t even look at him and just kept eating.
Asher, who had stopped the juice from spilling on everything, looked at Adam and said in an indifferent tone, "What was that for, Mr. Useless AC?"
Adam looked at Asher with a guilty expression and said, "Sorry, I wa—"
But then he stopped mid-sentence, remembering the whole reason the incident had happened in the first place. His expression shifted back to normal, and he looked at Asher. "It’s not fully my fault — it’s also yours. Who even uses that term? Noah’s not some beast or animal, you know."
Noah looked at Adam and said, "Thanks."
Adam instantly replied, "You’re welcome."
Then Noah’s expression turned to annoyance as he remembered what the conversation was actually about, and he said, "Would you guys stop talking about that? It’s nothing like that."
But no one listened to him.
Asher replied to Adam in a confused tone, "What did I even say wrong? I’m sure I explained it correctly."
Then he paused for a moment and said, "Oh, I forgot to sugarcoat the word."
Adam looked at Asher with a complex expression and muttered, "Sugarcoat?"
Asher then turned toward Aria, who was still quietly eating, and asked in a normal tone, "What do you call it after sugarcoating it?"
Aria replied calmly, without any change in her expression, "Puberty."
Asher then said "Yeah, puberty"
Adam just ignored the whole sugarcoating thing and asked, "Just tell me who that girl is."
But Noah suddenly stood up, looked at Asher, and said in a pleading tone, "Don’t."
Asher just ignored Noah and was about to continue and tell the name of girl, but then Aria suddenly said, "Break is about to end. You should focus on eating and ignore this nonsense."
Asher nodded and said, "Yeah, you’re right."
And then Asher just started eating his food.
Noah let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding and slowly sat back down, relief washing over his face.
