Chapter 131: Domain [6]
Some time ago...
Just as No. 1 and No. 2 expanded their Domains.
Forty of Asher’s vessels were engulfed by No. 2’s Domain.
The next moment, the world around them changed completely.
They found themselves standing in a different world.
It was a land of death.
The ground beneath their feet was covered in endless black sand that stretched as far as the eye could see.
Withered trees, twisted into grotesque shapes, stood scattered across the barren land like the remains of a long-forgotten civilization.
Not a single leaf remained on their branches.
The sky above was a dull gray, completely devoid of sunlight, making the entire world appear lifeless and suffocating.
A cold wind continuously swept across the wasteland, carrying with it fine black sand and the faint smell of decay.
Countless broken bones and weathered skulls lay half-buried beneath the sand, while cracked gravestones emerged here and there as if this entire world had once been a massive cemetery.
There wasn’t a single trace of life anywhere.
Only endless silence.
It was a desolate world completely devoid of life.
A world that perfectly reflected the nature of its owner.
The Domain of a Necromancer.
The owner of this Domain, the Necromancer, No. 2, was standing on the opposite side of the Domain, nearly five kilometers away from Asher’s forty vessels.
He stood there calmly, looking toward them with the eyesight of a Grandmaster.
Such a distance meant nothing to him.
He could clearly see every one of Asher’s vessels.
Then he shouted in an excited tone,
"Welcome to my Domain..."
"...my soon-to-be additions to my undead legion."
Without wasting any more time, he immediately began casting a spell.
The next moment, the entire Domain started trembling violently.
The black sand quaked.
The ground cracked open in countless places.
Then...
Undead began rising from every corner of the Domain.
Skeletal hands burst out of the black sand before dragging entire bodies to the surface.
Some of the undead were humanoid.
Some were beasts.
Others were gigantic monsters as large as a two-story house.
However, every undead close to Asher’s vessels was below the Master rank.
The farther the undead were from Asher’s vessels and the closer they were to No. 2, the stronger they became.
Near the center of the Domain, Master-rank undead could be seen standing silently.
Some were humanoid warriors clad in broken armor.
Others were terrifying beasts with enormous skeletal bodies and eyes burning with ghostly flames.
Standing right beside No. 2 were three figures.
Two enormous undead beasts towered over everything else, their bodies radiating an overwhelming aura.
Between them stood a humanoid undead.
Unlike the others, it still retained the pressure of a Grandmaster.
It was an undead Grandmaster.
The two enormous undead beasts standing beside No. 2 were unlike anything the forty vessels had seen before.
One of them was a gigantic humanoid creature.
It possessed two massive arms, two legs, and an enormous body nearly twenty meters tall.
Its flesh had long since decayed, exposing blackened bones beneath, while an eerie aura of death surrounded its entire body.
The other was an enormous undead fire wyvern.
Its massive skeletal wings stretched across the sky, and dark flames continuously burned inside its empty eye sockets and rib cage.
Between the two stood the undead Grandmaster.
It was a Water Element Master while it had been alive.
Even after death, traces of that power still remained within its body.
There were nearly five thousand undead spread throughout the Domain.
Most of them were below the Master rank.
Only one hundred and twenty-one of them had reached the Master rank.
However, they were no longer as powerful as they had been while alive.
They were merely remnant shells of their former selves.
Undead were created from the bodies of recently deceased humans or beasts whose mana cores remained intact.
When a Necromancer turned a corpse into an undead, the mana core fused completely with the body.
At the same time, the remnant will left behind by the living being also fused into the corpse.
Because of this, an undead could retain some of the skills and instincts it possessed while alive, provided the Necromancer had achieved a sufficiently high mastery over necromancy.
However, undead could never evolve.
Once the mana core fused with the body, they permanently lost the ability to cultivate.
Likewise, destroying their brain or heart was meaningless.
As long as the mana core remained intact, they would continue moving.
They were driven by the will of the Necromancer and the faint remnant will left behind from when they had still been alive.
No. 2 then sat on top of the undead wyvern.
The enormous creature spread its skeletal wings and flew high into the sky.
From above, No. 2 calmly overlooked the entire battlefield.
Then he shifted his gaze toward Asher’s forty vessels and said in a crazed tone,
"Struggle all you want."
"You’ll never defeat me unless you kill every one of these undead... or kill me first."
He laughed before continuing,
"Aren’t you all good at killing?"
"Then go ahead... kill them."
"Oh, wait..."
"They’re already dead."
"So what are you going to do now?"
"As long as I, the Necromancer, remain alive..."
"...they will never stop."
Asher’s vessels didn’t reply.
They simply looked at No. 2 for a brief moment.
Then, all forty vessels of Asher simultaneously manifested their mana blades and coated his body with a thick layer of mana.
The next instant, the strange black fog spread across every blade, completely covering them.
Without the slightest hesitation...
All forty vessels marched straight toward the endless army of undead.
No. 2, who was still sitting atop the undead wyvern high in the sky, merely watched them before muttering in a mocking tone,
"Tire yourselves out as much as you want."
"In the end ,it will still be you who loses."
And just like that...
The battle between the endless army of the deads and the ones who defied death itself...
began.
