Chapter 104: Alone [19]

Asher then opened his laptop and started watching videos while eating his breakfast.

Then he stopped, looked at his teammates, and said, "Why are you standing? Sit anywhere you want."

After saying this, Asher simply continued eating.

All three of them sat on the nearby chairs.

Adam then looked at the laptop screen to see what Asher was watching. After seeing it, he looked at Asher with a mocking expression and said, "Don’t you feel ashamed? You are 15 years old and still watching cartoons."

After hearing this, Asher looked at him and replied, "I watch what I like. I don’t care what you think. And who even watches some deep suspense story while eating? These shows are the best to watch while eating."

Adam looked at him and said, "You should watch some drama or a movie."

Asher immediately replied, "I don’t like drama."

Aria then interrupted before Adam could argue further. "What happened in the test? I didn’t see the three idiots you were talking about in the cafeteria today."

The three idiots were Leon, Roselia and Celestine, that were now still recovering from their trauma.

Asher looked toward her, made a confused expression, and replied, "I don’t know. I just beat them a little bit more this time, nothing else."

As soon as Adam heard a little more, he thought, ’You cut off their limbs last time, so if you went a little further this time, I don’t even want to know what you did to them.

Aria then stood up and said, "Okay, enjoy your breakfast. Let’s meet again at lunch."

Asher looked at her and replied, "Okay, bye."

Adam and Noah also left. After knowing that Asher was okay, there was no need for them to stay any longer.

Meanwhile, at the Church.

The Church’s main base was situated in the eastern part of the continent.

That place was called Lythorien.

The Church of Zevark was a magnificent temple built from white stone and gold-trimmed marble. A tall spire topped with a crystal sun symbol shone brightly in the daylight. Inside, colorful stained-glass windows filled the sanctuary with golden light, leading to a radiant crystal altar and the sacred Eternal Lantern. The church symbolized Zevark’s light, wisdom, hope, and protection.

In one of the church’s rooms, a meeting was being held between some of its core members.

The ranks of the Church were as follows:

Solar Pontiff (equivalent to a Pope, a Saint-rank cultivator)

Grand Cardinal of Light (Immortal-rank cultivator)

Archbishop of the Dawn (Grandmaster-rank cultivator)

Bishop of Radiance (Master-rank cultivator)

Also Saints and Saintness (They are selected on talent so have no certain ranks)

The other ranks, such as Deacon of the Flame, Priest of the Dawn, and High Priest of Light, were held by cultivators below the Master rank and were responsible for managing smaller church regions.

The meeting currently being held was between the three Grand Cardinals of Light.

The atmosphere inside the room was heavy.

The three Grand Cardinals of Light were sitting around a large table.

Various reports were spread across the table, but none of them looked pleased.

One of them spoke in a heavy tone.

"This contains everything regarding the experiments conducted on demons and human hybrids. If things continue at this pace, we should have the results within six months."

Another Grand Cardinal nodded before looking at the third figure.

"Grand Cardinal Solarius Zevark, any news regarding Lady Olivia and her little toy who were killed three months ago?"

Solarius Zevark, the father of Leon Zevark and the son of the current Solar Pontiff, answered in a grave tone.

"There is still no news about their killer. When we found them, only the two of them were present. There were no traces of anyone else at the scene. Even after attempting to use divination to identify the killer, all we could see was a dark fog, so killer probably used a strong antui divination artifact"

The other Grand Cardinal made a grave expression before speaking.

"I see. Perhaps the Royal Family killed her to erase any connection that might lead back to the murder from ten years ago, but it doesn’t really matter anymore. Just announce that she ran away with her little lover and betrayed the Church. There is no need for her anymore."

He paused for a moment before continuing.

"Her role as Serena’s best friend had already been fulfilled. She was a useful tool, but unfortunately, not a talented enough tool for us to invest in any further."

Solarius Zevark replied,

"Yeah, but Serena was even more useful and quite easy to manipulate. If it weren’t for that prophecy, there would have been no reason to kill her."

The others simply nodded.

"But it doesn’t really matter anymore. Let’s focus on future matters."

Suddenly, there was a knock on the door.

Solarius Zevark frowned and said,

"What happened for you to disturb us right now?"

A voice came from outside.

"Grand Cardinal, it’s a letter from the head of the Astrean Family, Edward Astrean."

All three of them showed slight surprise at the mention of Edward Astrean.

One of them then said,

"What happened now for that pathetic man to send a message after not contacting us for the last decade?"

Solarius replied,

"Come in."

The door opened, and a beautiful servant girl with Gold-rank cultivation entered the room. She respectfully handed the tablet containing the message to Solarius.

After handing over the tablet, she bowed and left without saying anything further.

One of the other Grand Cardinals looked at Solarius, who now had an annoyed expression while reading the message.

"What happened?"

Solarius placed the tablet on the table and said,

"It’s that stupid son of mine again. He still lost to Serena’s son, Asher, even after exhausting him and fighting him at his weakest."

His expression darkened further.

"And as if that wasn’t enough, he actually attempted to murder the boy. Fortunately for Asher, he survived. In retaliation, he nearly killed Leon and would have succeeded if someone hadn’t stopped him at the last moment."

He snorted coldly before continuing.

"And now Edward wants the Church to provide compensation because Leon tried to kill his son."
