Chapter 101: Alone [16]
Then Aelar, Elisa, and Walter moved to another quiet room where there was no one else.
Then Aelar looked at Walter and respectfully asked, "Sir, I don’t see Asher anywhere. Where is he?"
Walter looked at Aelar and replied, "He went to his room and is probably sleeping peacefully right now as we speak."
Aelar looked at Walter for a moment with an expression that seemed to say,
"Sir, are you perhaps joking?"
Elisa sighed and then said, "That is both unbelievable and believable if we’re talking about that child."
Aelar looked at Walter again before asking, his voice filled with both worry and confusion,
"Sir, he was just about to be killed, and he also would have killed a fellow student if you hadn’t intervened in time. Shouldn’t any kid who experienced death that closely, and who almost killed another person, be feeling fear or guilt? So how can he possibly be sleeping peacefully right now?"
Elisa looked at Aelar and then said, "We already talked about it, and it is still the same. He doesn’t care about others’ feelings or suffering, and he is cruel to his enemies, so he simply does not care."
Then Elisa ignored Aelar and said, "But what was that? Him affecting the space around him and making sure that we could not teleport them back, and also that spell that you said he may have given up on."
Walter looked at Elisa and said, "That kid was still hiding his mastery of spatial magic and somehow managed to complete that spell without losing his life."
Elisa replied with a complex expression, "So that kid is even more talented than we expected and will reach the Master rank even sooner than we anticipated."
Walter simply nodded. "Yeah."
Elisa sighed and said, "Ignore him for now. What should we do about the incident that just happened?"
Walter looked at Elisa and replied, "Get those three kids a therapist, or maybe send them back to their families. As for the mess that Asher caused, I’ll talk to Edward. He’ll take care of it by speaking with those kids’ families in whatever way he sees fit. It’s nothing for the Academy to worry about. Hopefully, nothing too serious happened because of this incident."
Aelar then said, "I’ll take care of the test results and simply announce that Asher won and that the test ended quickly. I’ll also make sure no mention of the incident is made so the other students don’t find out about it and cause any unnecessary problems."
He then paused and asked, "What about Asher?"
Walter looked at Aelar and said, "Don’t worry about that kid. I’ll talk to him so he won’t say a thing about it. He simply doesn’t care about such matters and has probably already forgotten about it by now."
Then Aelar and Elisa went to complete their own tasks, while Walter simply placed a video call to Edward.
Edward picked up the call. He was still in his office. After answering, he calmly asked, "What happened for you to call me at this time?"
Walter replied, "Asher happened. What else?"
Edward looked at Walter calmly and said, "Then why call me? You should have handled it yourself. He isn’t stupid enough to do something excessive."
Walter replied, "He did this time."
Edward raised an eyebrow and asked, "Tell me in detail what happened."
Walter then explained the entire incident to Edward in detail and also told him what Asher had said regarding his actions during the incident.
Edward listened quietly before saying, "So what exactly is the problem? No one died. As for their trauma, that’s their own fault for being that weak. They should either stay at home or simply not have fought him in the first place. As for compensation, yeah, I should probably talk to the Church about that."
Walter looked at Edward with a complex expression and said, "Have you gone crazy like Asher as well? If we do nothing, it will damage our relationship with the Elf Royal Family, the Church, and the Voltaris Family."
Edward replied calmly, "Why should we care about the Elf Royal Family? We’re on opposite sides of the continent. There’s no need for us to maintain a good relationship with them."
He then continued, "As for the Church, it was their heir’s fault for attacking Asher with the intention to kill, even if it was by mistake. Compensation is a must. Besides, we don’t exactly have a good relationship with them already, so why worry? And if they refuse to provide compensation..."
He paused for a moment.
A mad smile suddenly appeared on his otherwise calm face before he continued, "Then we might just go to war with them. It’s been a long time since I last killed someone."
Walter’s expression immediately stiffened.
Edward, however, continued as if he had said nothing unusual.
"As for the Voltaris Family, just ignore them. Who even cares about that girl? She’s simply in shock, nothing more. She’ll recover soon enough."
Walter was about to say something, but before he could speak, Edward continued,
"You don’t need to do anything. I’ll talk to all of them myself."
Then Edward cut the call.
Walter simply stared at the phone with wide eyes before finally coming back to reality.
He muttered in disbelief, "Has that kid gone insane as well? Does he not understand that worsening his relationship with the other family will only bring trouble for him in the future? And even if he doesn’t care about himself, he should at least care about Asher. That kid’s life could be put in danger. Has he gone so insane that he no longer even cares about Asher?"
Walter rubbed his forehead and said, "One insane kid is now the head of the family, has lost the only person he ever cared about, and now doesn’t even care about Asher anymore."
He paused before continuing, "And the other kid is an insanely talented genius, but just as insane. He doesn’t really care about anyone other than having a peaceful life, yet he has skills as if he’s planning to fight the entire world alone. I guess the Astrean family is going to vanish from the world if things keep going like this."
