Chapter 559: Unbelievable Yet True
(Author’s POV)
"Nora was never his target, but the other infant girl who was kidnapped with her." A collective gasp came out of the other three’s mouths. Then Alaric added something which made the ground beneath their feet sink in, "As for that girl’s identity, she is none other than ... My~ra Miracle," Alaric revealed. The way her name rolled off his tongue, something complicated flashed in those sapphires of his, but none of his brothers noticed it. They were too stunned to react to the revelation, holding their breaths.
"Al, what~ ... what are you saying? Are you even hearing yourself? How is this even~ .... possible?" Dion’s voice trembled, his voice heavy with emotion, "Myra~ ... she~ .... how can this be?"
"Bro. Dio is~ ... right. Even if the other girl was Myra, Garry aimed to abduct her and not Nora? That doesn’t make sense at all. Nora is the only Lycan princess in the entire world. But Myra~ .... she is a normal human being. What would he get from taking her?" Elio spoke up his mind. "Did he lie to you to evade your wrath? Did he say that just to stall time?"
Another exhausting sigh came out of his mouth. He could totally understand why his brothers were so perplexed. At first, he too was. Honestly, who would even believe such a thing would happen? But he had heard the backstory and witnessed the effect of the oath’s backlash with his own eyes. Those images were still imprinted in his mind. None of that could be deceit.
Leaning in close, he dropped his voice to a mere whisper, then uttered, "What if~ .... I tell you, Myra isn’t just a normal human being."
Brave’s brows furrowed as Dion said, "Al, what are you trying to say here? That Myra~ ... she isn’t a human?"
"No. She is a human," Alaric reaffirmed it. "But not an ordinary one. She has something no one else does. Her blood. She has a unique, one of a kind blood."
"Unique blood? Stop beating around the bush," Brave was on the edge now. His stomach was churning with anxiety.
"Her birth wasn’t simple. It was the result of~ ... a terrifying experiment," Alaric’s eyes rimmed slightly red as he bit his lower lip. He unveiled everything Garry had told him. He told them about his underground links. How Brian approached Garry with the offer. Who was involved in their inhumane scheme. And what they did over the years~ .... every single detail. Even when he was speaking, Alaric was having a hard time maintaining his composure.
When he finished, Elio couldn’t take it anymore. Those words were making his ears bleed. He bellowed in pure agonizing fury, "THOSE VICIOUS MONSTERS~ .... HOW COULD THEY~ .... TAPE, RICHARDS, CASPER, KEITH~ .... everyone who was involved, I will finish them. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM."
"Gold Blood~ .... I thought it was just some mythical potion," Brave muttered under his breath.
"You know about it?" Alaric questioned, stunned.
"During my heir training, father mentioned it once," Brave replied, reeling in on his and Noah’s conversation from when he was fifteen. "At that time, father said that in the past few centuries, in order to attain immortality, many have tried to make it but couldn’t succeed for some reason or another. Though it was mentioned in some ancient text, its authenticity wasn’t guaranteed. So, we never went into details."
"But now you are saying, Myra is the sole possessor of that very mythical potion. That the gold blood is coursing through her veins. She, herself, is the gold blood," Dion added, trying to process all of it.
Alaric nodded, "Yes." That one word shook his brothers and their respective wolves to the core. Their fated mate, whom they thought was an average human being, was the most coveted person in existence right now.
"Then the oath’s backlash, it happened because he unveiled the truth to you~ ...." Elio said, it was more of a statement than a question.
"Yes. After three days, he will draw his last breath," Alaric spoke, holding the armrest so tight that it was ready to get crushed. "He is going to die that easily. That freaking coward."
"Al, his end is near, but those other malefic predators .... they are still walking, still breathing, still living freely," Dion gnashed his teeth. Drey was already on the surface as his voice turned gravelly, "Two of them are right under this mansion. I will rip the windpipe out of their throats and gouge out those eyes of theirs." He snarled, got up from the chair and marched to the door, ready to take them on.
All four brothers shared the same sentiment, but Brave stopped him, "Dio, don’t do anything rash."
"There is no stopping, Rave. So, don’t. Because of them, our sister was taken away from us. Those greedy monsters were experimenting on people? Test subjects? They have played with countless lives." Drey was heaving with fury. Those usually calm golden greens were now resembling live charcoal. "They have to pay the price of their actions now."
Alaric reached him before he could walk out, "DION EVERESTS, SNAP OUT OF IT. Are you going to put Myra’s life in danger?" He questioned. "If word gets out about her unusual birth and her existence, do you realize what would happen then?"
His words hit Dion as well as his wolf. Brave, reading his twin’s mind, said, "Everyone would pounce on her to get the taste of her blood."
"So, are we going to just sit by and watch them walk away free?" Elio asked.
"Eli, this is the vampire’s territory, and due to the stabbing incident, things are already in chaos now. So, we need to be careful about what we do next. Our priority is Myra’s safety," Brave muttered. "We can’t let them know about her."
"Justice will be served. At the right time," Alaric declared as clarity hit him. "We will take them all down, drag them to hell, but first we need a foolproof plan."
"Yes, we can’t go headfirst," Brave added, "And one more thing~ .... what we talked about now, it stays with the four of us. Don’t even tell mother and father about this, not yet."
Everyone nodded in agreement, but unknown to any of them~ .... there was already an eavesdropper lurking around, who heard every word they said.
