Chapter 558: Unraveling The Truth To His Brothers

(Author’s POV)

"Young Alpha Brave, he isn’t dead. Just fainted," the commando told them while checking Shaun’s pulse.

The Blood Lunar clan’s leader was brutally beaten by the head commando of the keeper’s unit. Every few inches away, a wooden stake was nailed into his body mercilessly, shrouding his body with thick and dark blood patches still trickling down his pale white skin. Only his pallid face was left untouched. The gory scene would have made anyone feel nauseous, but none of the men present in that place, whether werewolves or vampires, even flinched at the sight. They were all simply used to such acts of violence.

Dion languidly took a few steps and stood right in front of Shaun. He seized Shaun’s ashen face, pivoting it from one side to another. Without turning back, he raised a question, "Rave, do you think he is telling the truth? After all the screaming and hellish torture, he hadn’t let out a single syllable about the conspirators and kept repeating the same thing. A loose tongued guy like him, he couldn’t stay quiet for that long."

"I know that," Brave replied calmly as he took out a handkerchief from his pocket and wiped his hand clean of the blood. Halfway through the punishment, he had already figured it out. "But the truth won’t change. He was the one who aimed the stake at the king. Everyone present saw it. So, this much punishment is a given. He has to bear the consequences of his actions after all."

Dion didn’t say a word, just nodded in agreement. Brave then said to the commander in chief, "Sir Jared, keep a close eye on him. And continue with the punishment once he regains consciousness." Without waiting for a reply, he spun around and walked out briskly; his siblings followed suit.

Once they were out of the basement dungeon, Elio finally asked, puzzlement etched on his face, "Bro. Rave, Dio, what the heck happened here? Someone dared to plot against the vampire king and inside his own estate?"

"Remember what I told you, Eli? For people like us, there are more foes than friends. We always have to be on guard. With that many clan leaders gathered together, something was bound to happen. Weren’t you posted near the garden? Where did you suddenly go off to, huhh?" Brave questioned back, giving Elio a sideways glance.

Instead of answering, Elio looked at Alaric, who spoke, "Let’s go to your room first."

Both Brave and Dion sensed something unusual from his tone, so they just hummed as all four of them made their way towards Brave’s room. With a deadpan expression and serious tone, Alaric muttered, "Brave, make a barrier. I have something important to tell you all."

Brave nodded, closed his eyes and focused, trying to channel his power, but it didn’t work. He frowned and attempted the second time, but the result remained the same. He then sensed what it was and said, "I can’t make it. There is a neutralizing barrier in place obstructing it."

Alaric released a heavy sigh and walked to the door. He surveyed the hallway thoroughly and, after making sure there were no prying eyes, shut it tight.

"Speak, what is it?" Brave uttered, looking at his twin.

Alaric held a complicated expression. He opened his mouth and then closed it. He didn’t know where to start.

"Al, what’s going on? Why are you acting like this? You have been behaving strangely since last night. You weren’t in the mansion this morning as well." Dion pointed out. "Why are you hesitating?"

Alaric slumped onto the couch and started, "Elio and I were at a private facility."

"What for?" Dion’s brow creased. Alaric licked his lips and replied, "For Garry Yates, he was in a fatal car accident."

"Huhh? An accident? Garry Yates?" Brave mumbled.

"Yes, an accident I orchestrated," he confessed.

"Bro. AL, YOU DID THAT?" Elio was shocked. The injuries on Garry’s body made him suspicious; now he knew why. Dion, with a natural tone, queried, "Why would you do that?"

With gritted teeth, he tried to contain the fury bubbling in and dropped the ultimate bomb, "BECAUSE THAT BASTARD~ .... THAT ROTTEN PIECE OF FLESH~ .... HE IS THE ONE WHO KIDNAPPED NORA TWENTY ONE YEARS AGO."

His words left all three of them speechless, their eyes bulging out of their sockets. The room went into a profound silence. The atmosphere turned cold in an instant.

The first person to break the quietness was Dion. He banged his hand hard on the armrest and roared, "WHAT? THAT FILTHY HUMAN~ .... He dared to~ ..." his eyes were raging with intense anger.

Elio got up from his chair and growled, "THAT SON OF A BITCH. I WILL KILL HIM."

"Eli, calm down," Brave, the level headed one out of all of them, inquired, "But~ ... Al, are you sure? How~ ... how do you know it was Garry Yates? We have been investigating the matter from the very beginning, but have got no leads. What makes you think it is him? You sure you are not mistaken?"

"I. AM.~ .... DEAD SURE, RAVE," he looked straight at his brothers, his eyes bloodshot. He then revealed, "Because that snake, he admitted to it himself."

Brave’s eyes moistened as he closed his eyes. Meanwhile, Alaric told them, "The day mother arrived in Esteria, she asked me to do a background check on Garry Yates. His past, his present, everything. She specifically mentioned to look for his whereabouts from the time of Eli and Ora’s birth. I did some digging and found out he was present in Kimberg the day Eli and Ora were born."

Everyone kept quiet, listening to his words attentively, "From what Shade found out, his record of arrival, his departure, his presence near the hospital, everything tallied exactly."

Clenching his jaw tight, Dion asked, "What did he get from abducting Nora? He is a plain human. Is he involved with the rogue king or other enemies?"

"That won’t be right, Dio. If that were the case, he wouldn’t have kept Nora alive," Brave murmured. "There is something else~ ... right, Al?"

All eyes were on Alaric now. He took a deep breath, releasing it, and dropped the second bomb, "Because Nora was never his target. His~ ...." He paused, clenching his fists in an iron grip, "His target was the other girl."

Disbelief washed over the three. But then Alaric revealed something else which shook them to the core, "And that girl is none other than~ .... Myra Miracle."
