Chapter 2930: 2930. Goals As A Family

The extra push toward development would go a long way since there was a new reason to challenge themselves as a people. However, Walker and the rest of the party were now able to meet a little more privately. Ignus stayed around but Scylla and the other leaders went off on their own.

"It was a dragon that traveled between different elemental planes. Not just elemental planes attached to our world, but between those out in the chaos." Walker spoke and left the topic out in the open.

Everyone could fully grasp what this might mean just after a few moments of thinking.

"So you think we need to get stronger a little faster?" As much as Gil was focused on the changes to the elven race and his development lately, he also understood that he needed to face that there was more out there.

"I think we need to be realistic. We are small and out there is unfathomable. I doubt we can even consider going out there." Su was right, she couldn’t see what might be and she also knew that even with her new resistance skills she had no way to imagine resisting pure chaotic manas that were a threat to beings beyond her imagination.

"If dragons exist outside of everything we know, then are we sure they are even dragons as we know my people to be?" It was shocking that Ignus was trying to fathom this, but he made a good point in his theory and relization.

He focused on the fact that the dragons they knew came to be through the bounds of elemental planes and development of the world. Even the different species of dragons within the elemental planes changed over time and could barely be said to be the same.

The similarity was the origins of their kind and not what they currently were. Whether they could even reproduce as "the dragon race" was an impossible question to consider, but one that could be the very concept between differentiating races and kinds of one race.

"You make a good point, what if there are more places way out there in the unknown, are they even the same? Probably not. But they have similar growth and paths but they went in different directions. They lived longer or differently that altered what they are fundamentally. We need to make sure we have that as a fact."

Gil continued, "we might see races as they are here, but out there dragon, elf, goblin, human, and whatever else might be more of a description of origins of a race rather than a race as a whole."

His points were more than clear. If there was more out in the unknown, if everything was so much larger than they knew, then wouldn’t the races out there also fall under umbrella terms? That would make it easier to describe races and then to categorize them as a whole. From there, specifics could be learned as people met and learned cultures and such things.

"I think you make good points, but if you think this is enough for you to run off on an adventure and test you new arrows made of mana itself, you might need to think twice." Alma calmly glanced at Gil making him shiver.

Everyone else was looking at Gil surprised by other things she said though.

"You made pure mana in to arrows?" Walker knew that mages could make elemental arrows but the skills were not better than other forms that the magic could take. Therefore, the magical arrows that they made from elemental manas would be replaced or entirely ignored in the long run for the elemental javelin skill or something similar.

"I have, I focused on the arcane side of my class and also on the high elf bloodlines naturally affinity for manas. I also managed to spur myself a bit more and realized that I can better see, hear, sense, and really do everything when relying on the arcane side of my class. The physical side is the bow in my hand, the effect you have on the world. But the magical side? That’s in the arrows I can conjure up or entirely encompass and overlay on the arrows I craft."

Now it was clear to everyone.

Gil has made a big deal focusing on the fact that he wanted to better allow mana to dwell within arrows. This way others of the elven race would be able to make powerful arrows stronger than what they would normally be able to use if they didn’t have such guidance. It would make the archers of the elven race stronger overall even if they were weaker as a whole.

But making an arrow from mana and firing gave him a purer magical attack. Then overlaying that magical arrows over a regular arrow would double up the force and strength. He didn’t need the skill to dwell within anything. It was literally an aspect of his class he didn’t properly nurture and focus on because he was never being selfish enough to do so.

"I understand that it’s different from what I tried to do, but it also showed me that this arcane marksman class is not at its limits. Just like the high elf bloodline is not either. The elves have the potential to venture out in to the elemental planes and more if they have the chance."

Now they saw why Gil was so invested all of the sudden. He saw a similarity to dragons being out in the unknown that elves might have too.

The elves always focused on nature and the growth of things around them. They lived in trees and focused on herbs and natural hunting practices. So if they had that feeling to a greater aspect of everything that was... well, there was a chance there might be other forms of elves out there in the unknown.

Maybe not a chance, but a surety.

"I see where you are coming from. If dragon races are out there, elf races are out there, and more, we might need to think about the fact that we could encounter more powerful beings like the origin race or more than that. Some of us, maybe all of us could live long enough to find out." The long sigh from Remey as she said this proved that she thought she could live long enough to see this happen.

The idea of how long a species could live was now in question.

The entire party knew that if there were ancient beings like a dragon that traveled around the unknown leaving behind materials that were invaluable to them but nothing but waste to the being itself, then maybe there was something that limited age.

Whether it was strength or lack of ability in mana they didn’t know. But Walker understood he would surely live longer and potentially even longer than he knew himself. For him, he had to grow more to find out. Had to see more. Had to experience more.

"Remey, since we don’t know so much, I want to ask you to make some nutritional potions specifically for Alma. better than what you have already done. I want to know that the child we will have will be ready to face it all. I want to help everything move along quicker and safer."

This made Alma drop her jaw in surprise. She hadn’t realized that the reason Gil was making these comments and keeping an eye on these things had been working toward the goal of their first child being born sooner.

"If we are going to all face the unknown, I want to be there to be a pillar too. We are stronger and can be stronger through training no one else can do. Even you Alma, you can’t come where I go all the time. I have been altered by what I have done and how I move. You have roots here more than I do, so before I have to face something that might take me far away, I want to make sure you and the little one are perfectly safe." Gil turned his gaze to Walker and Walker perfectly understood.

Gil had taken the conversation in another direction because he now knew that if he wanted to protect even himself, that he would fail right now. For someone building a family and looking at the family he’d come together with in front of him, that was hard. That was terrifying.

"That’s fine. I think I should worry about my own family stuff too before things become chaotic. I should be able to train myself better for chaotic mana too, Su needs training like that." Remey casually left this out in the open too. Onyx and Midnight were just darting their eyes from one person to another letting every word stall in the air.
