Chapter 2928: 2928. Back Home
"Sister, on your right!" The voice of Onyx took precedence as he warned Midnight of the approaching horned rabbit.
They had helped with the migratory tides of these rabbits before, but this time the two of them had come together to help since they could guide some of the young dragon hatchlings and serpent hatchlings to fight. They were all those who potentially wished to become adventurers but needed to see some real battle first.
Since the adventurer guild had volunteered many groups to have the farm fields in this matter, it worked out perfectly.
"You heard him." Midnight spoke out then growled slightly. She had made those she guided separate and kept themselves held back. They were not easily defeated by the rabbits and the paralyzing venom in their horns. But she also wanted to make sure that they worked together with others and had to fight properly.
With the increased mana around now and the fact that the world expanded, the farm fields had the need for more guards. With all this also came more horned rabbits that wanted to eat and breed as much as possible, making the farms even more at risk.
It didn’t help that these fields were not the only ones that needed protecting. The adventurer’s guild of Genesis had sent half of their adventurer groups available on quests to protect the demi-human fields too.
With Genesis expanding, they had a huge amount of farms and herb gardens. They also have plenty of different greenhouses that were also at risk of these rabbits making their way too close. But the demi-human people were always and would remain the leading food producers for their people and exporting to other kingdoms.
They were just that good at farming, even with Genesis improving theories and ideas so rapidly.
Using her skills to float in the air above, Scylla stood watching Onyx and Midnight order those beneath them in command order. The younger serpents and adventurers learning here were part of those two testing their leadership skills. Their abilities to work with one another calmly even when stress and pressure demanded their entire focus too.
She had been putting them in situations that stressed their minds and not their bodies. Battle like this was ideal for a test while before she had just distracted them and made them try to order several guards to move through formation training at the same time.
This path of testing had gone on and on causing them to also bring in members of their own race and eventually led to this situation now.
It also led to them realizing just how many of their own race wished to be adventurers. For Onyx, the serpents who wished to become adventurers wished to pursue a path like his. They were inspired. For Midnight, the hatchlings who wished to adventure were young and heard about the opportunities their parents and elders missed by staying within the same village their whole lives.
They all wanted to explore and carve their own paths so focusing on it was perfect right now. It was the perfect age of development and exploration.
"They are doing well, I thought you would have them fighting more, but making them not fight at all must be hard on them." Gil silently appeared next to Scylla, making her flinch.
She had known that Gil was changing the way he trained the elves, challenging what they knew of the high elf bloodline and the origin of the race itself. But he has been pushing them toward developing mixed affinities and changing classes so efficiently in training that she had lost track of everything she heard.
His own training? She couldn’t comment on it since apparently he had been keeping himself locked away to the point that not even Alma knew the exact details. Proving that he kept some secrets for a good reason.
"They have changed the way they think and are taking more of what is around them in to perspective. I think they gained the passive skill, tactical thought. It’s a small skill that we have recently found a lot of good guard captains have, but for them and us, it’s the foundation of leadership."
Gil also had this skill but had mostly written it off. The only benefits were to the subordinates around them and their motions being focused on better. However, it was a small passive skill and did not have a major impact. It was hard to really call it a skill since just helping keep subordinates in order was a strange skill ability overall when most just did it naturally if they were training themselves to be a better leader.
"They are making this much easier. I heard that the human territory also had a larger wave of horned rabbits this year, we will need to take a lot of information down this year so that we can be better prepared. Luckily Alice brought some healer groups out from training to work on this. Apparently they also paused construction on the academy to free up more healers and builders to help with any damages."
Scylla and Gil kept chatting until both realized that there was a presence, a pressure that appeared in the distance.
They both shared a look before wondering if something had happened with the bridge to the elemental plane in the distance there. They knew that some races and their ambassadors had come through earlier in the day but they shouldn’t exude this much mana and pressure. Therefore, it would mean that something shifted.
That was their thought until they heard a roar of welcome.
The dragon roaring also breathed in to the air slightly since they had returned from handling a few of the elder dragons who had been training to take dragonkin form lately. It was an important step for the fire dragons and Ignus did not hold back in offering the assistance. He knew his elders had taken a major step forward in asking for assistance so he supported it. Genesis and the dragons were growing together now more than ever.
He had sensed Remey’s mana the moment that she appeared and knew that she would come toward him. He also sensed that she had gotten stronger. That she had grown and he was going to have to work a little harder himself if he desired to remain an anchor of his own people too.
"That means it’s Walker, Su, and Remey getting back. They ran off to experiment or search for something and now they are back. At least this time Walker didn’t send a bunch of races to meet us. Did you hear how the whale race and squid race he met acted toward the emissaries we sent? Apparently they were so large that they almost squished them!"
While this had been an exaggeration from the emissaries sent, it was still a point that was made. No one, even the party, could imagine who or what they would meet next when it came to the elemental planes.
The pressure suddenly disappeared then appeared right next to them while the smiling faces of the three looked at Scylla, Gil, and Ignus who just took his dragonkin form. "We made it back and wanted to come and see all the commotion. Ignus, you are perfectly in time to come with us to a meeting. We have something we need to plant." Walker was teasing a bit but they all sensed it.
The pressure from the three was not only their growth but the odd floating red colored crystal seed floating around Su. they could tell it was dense with pure fire mana. But it was also hard to even challenge too. The space mana around them was held fast and proved that Walker was keeping some pressure away from them due to the weight of that thing on the space mana in the area.
"I take it that you three made some trouble and brought back a bunch of things we don’t understand?"
"Ohhh you already know? That’s lame. I bet you are just jealous that we went out to collect some things and help Su test her theories. Now you can’t wait to hear about it but you need to wait for everyone else." As Remey stuck her tongue out to enrage Gil, she felt she had lost when he just ignored her and looked at Walker before bumping fists in greetings.
"I need some time to handle a few matters. The same for your younger siblings leading the charge down there." Ignus looked at Remey, his focus on her were the other matters but that was fine.
"We have time, we need to settle down as well." Su also sensed that Alice was down in the healing tents instructing others. She wanted to greet her friend first too.
"Then in a couple of hours we will have a full Genesis council meeting. Su has some announcements to make." Walker smiled and nodded while joining Scylla in watching.
