Chapter 503: Chapter 272: The Ship Was Hijacked?
His expression changed once more. He was terrified the ship would get too far, robbing him of his last chance to return to the island.
’Don’t you dare show up!’
He scanned the calm surface of the sea, gritted his teeth, and made his decision. With a sharp tap of his toes on the ship, he launched himself into the air, soaring swiftly toward the island, which had already shrunk to a nearly invisible speck on the horizon.
Although he was an Innate Expert, he couldn’t use his Body Technique to stay airborne for long. He had to drop to the sea’s surface from time to time, using the water’s slight resistance to push off and execute his Body Technique again.
He couldn’t rely on the finesse of his Martial Arts’ Body Technique alone; he had to supplement it with his True Qi to skim across the surface of the sea, where there was nothing solid to push off from.
But that meant he would have to consume even more True Qi to make it back to the island!
"Like hell I can’t make it back!" Li Cungang’s face was a mask of utter frustration.
They were already in the outer sea, extremely far from Land. Sighting a ship out here was as rare as spotting a wolf on the island.
Even if he did spot a ship, the Sea Beasts that appeared from time to time made it impossible to give chase.
Now, after finally spotting a vessel that could actually approach the island, thinking he could use it to get back, he’d never imagined it would turn out to be a ghost ship!
Now he had to turn back to the island. How could he not be utterly frustrated!
As he used his Body Technique to rapidly distance himself from the ship, he found he was no longer trapped by its influence. He breathed a sigh of relief and immediately picked up his pace.
He had burned through too much True Qi when he’d vented his anger earlier. The half an hour of rest hadn’t restored much of it; compared to his normal state, he only had about two-thirds of his reserves left.
Now, he had to use what remained sparingly.
About fifteen minutes later, Li Cungang dropped to the sea again. His toes tapped the surface, borrowing just enough force to launch his body forward once more.
Feeling that he still had a third of his True Qi left, and seeing the island growing steadily larger, a faint, relieved smile touched Li Cungang’s lips.
’I should be able to reach the waters near the island before my True Qi runs out. From there, I can try swimming the rest of the way.’
At this thought, Li Cungang glanced back at the ship, only to see it continuing on its set course.
Suddenly, his expression changed. He felt a familiar presence closing in on him!
"You motherfucker, you’re back for more!" Li Cungang roared.
Out on the open sea, there was almost nothing to push off from; it was too late to change direction! He cursed the fact he was unarmed—otherwise, he’d have a fighting chance even in the water!
SPLASH!
The next moment, having blasted a burst of True Qi into the water to forcibly change his direction, Li Cungang saw two colossal, sucker-covered tentacles, each forty to fifty meters long, erupt from the sea just a few meters away, like a small, moving mountain.
The two tentacles slammed down heavily onto the surface of the sea, kicking up a monstrous wave!
Li Cungang had no intention of stopping, not hesitating for a second even as he was drenched by the seawater.
But soon, more tentacles erupted from the depths. They whipped through the air, sending spray flying and churning the waves, turning the entire sea surface turbulent. In an instant, they had surrounded Li Cungang at the center of the chaos.
His expression grim, Li Cungang sent a palm strike through the air, knocking aside the tentacle blocking his path. He seized the opportunity, landing on the appendage as it lay on the water. It gave him the solid footing he needed to truly gather his momentum, and he shot into the sky once more, streaking back toward the ship at top speed!
