Chapter 502: Chapter 272: The Ship Was Stolen?

"What in the world is this ship? And who the hell was that guy?" Li Cungang searched high and low, but he couldn’t find a soul.

It would be one thing if the ship were merely empty, but as it turned out, there were truly no sails and no oars!

A bizarre question arose.

"How the hell is this ship sailing?!"

But he soon realized something else, something that made his heart pound in his chest.

His hand began to tremble as he watched the island they had left shrink to the size of his fist.

’How did this ship get so far, so fast?’

Everything was just too strange!

He could understand covering this distance if there were sails and a strong wind. But he hadn’t used his True Qi to propel the vessel for fifteen minutes. With no sails and no oars, it should have been drifting aimlessly with the current at best. It was impossible for it to have traveled this far!

’Now... how am I supposed to get back?’ Li Cungang stared at the ship beneath his feet, a growing sense of unease washing over him.

’Could this be some kind of ghost ship? Did that kid escape from it?’ The possibility flashed through Li Cungang’s mind.

’According to folklore, there are spirits in the rivers that drag passing travelers into the water to take their place. That way, the spirit can leave, while the one who was pulled under is doomed to drown and wait for the next victim...’

The more he thought about it, the paler Li Cungang’s face grew.

"Impossible!" Li Cungang roared. "I am exceptionally talented, a master of Martial Arts at the Innate Late Stage in my fifties! I’ve seen my share of deadly places, and I’ve never once seen a ghost! How could there be... be..."

Li Cungang’s voice died in his throat. To his horror, he realized the ship had automatically changed direction and was now sailing at a steady pace—directly against the wind!

He also noticed that the ship was now circling the island!

"How... how is that possible!"

Li Cungang swallowed hard. This was all happening right before his eyes; it wasn’t a trick!

Now, even if he wanted to find a reason to deny what he was seeing, he was at a loss for words.

The distance from the ship back to the island was vast. Even with his abundant reserves of True Qi, he couldn’t possibly use his Lightweight Skill to cross the open sea for that long!

After all, the sea wasn’t like land, where he could stop to rest and then continue on his way.

He remembered there was a Sea Beast in these waters! It often came ashore on the island to rest.

If his True Qi ran out and he fell into the ocean, there would only be one outcome!

The thought of that outcome made Li Cungang’s eyes turn red. A wave of bitter resentment washed over him, and he let out a roar:

"No!!"

Li Cungang let out a sudden, explosive shout and slammed his fist onto the deck!

BAM!

The full-powered punch, charged with a powerful fluctuation of True Qi, sent the Dragon Bone Ship rocking violently from side to side.

Li Cungang steadied his stance, managing not to be thrown off balance. But when he looked at the wooden deck—completely unscathed—utter shock filled his eyes once more!

A full-power punch like that would have injured the Sea Beast in these waters; it would have blasted a hole through a cliff face.

But this deck was completely unharmed!

"Impossible!!"

Refusing to accept it, Li Cungang suddenly dropped to his knees, pummeling the deck again and again with fists wreathed in True Qi.

The force of the impacts caused the Dragon Bone Ship to rock even more violently. But due to its unique nature, it would never capsize, no matter how much it swayed.

This went on for about fifteen minutes. Finally, seeming utterly exhausted, Li Cungang collapsed onto his back. He lay on the deck, his chest heaving as he gasped for air, his eyes staring lifelessly at the sky.

He seemed to have lost all hope.

"Finally, it’s done."

Back on the island, by the cliff face, Cheng Zongyang looked at the one-square-meter platform he had carved out and breathed a sigh of relief.

Next, he brought out the Mole Beast and said to it:

"Pretty Mole, dig inward. Make a cave three meters deep," Cheng Zongyang instructed, giving it three Red Blood Pills.

Having received its payment, Pretty Mole nodded happily. It then spread its sharp claws and began to excavate the cave entrance as if it were digging through a foam board.

Cheng Zongyang followed behind, clearing away the rubble.

Pretty Mole was incredibly fast. The solid rock face that had taken him considerable effort to chip away at was like paper before the Mole Beast.

Cheng Zongyang didn’t mind in the slightest, quietly clearing away the debris the Mole Beast produced. At the same time, he entered the Wilderness World and had a Soul Slave with the Stonemason Talent fashion a stone slab that could cover the cave’s entrance.

Once the Mole Beast had dug to roughly the right depth, Cheng Zongyang had it begin to widen the space.

Suddenly, however, he sensed a commotion from the direction of the Dragon Bone Ship.

He closed his eyes to perceive what was happening, and the corner of his mouth twitched.

’Has that guy lost his mind?’

Through his senses, he could tell the man was frantically beating on the deck. But after a moment’s thought, he guessed the reason why.

’Looks like he got a good scare.’

Seeing that the Dragon Bone Ship was fine, he paid it no mind. However, he did mentally command the ship to pull away a little farther, just to be sure the man couldn’t use a Body Technique to get back.

「Half an hour passed in the blink of an eye.」

Cheng Zongyang took out a Lighting Lamp and surveyed the several-hundred-square-meter area of the cave, feeling quite satisfied.

The cave even had several stone pillars that had been solidified by the Mole Beast’s Ability, so there was basically no danger of collapse, barring a major earthquake.

Next, he took out two Teleportation Array Plates and one Defense Array. He planned to set up the Defense Array in the cave, then place one Teleportation Array on the left and one on the right within the bounds of the larger Array.

One would link to the next teleportation point, while the other would lead to a future location he had yet to establish.

Just as he was about to begin setting up the Teleportation Array, Li Cungang—who had spent the last half an hour lying on the Dragon Bone Ship’s deck recovering his True Qi—suddenly realized the ship had pulled even farther away!
