Chapter 93: Chapter 93 A Dagger To The Heart

Perry’s POV

I despised how Elder Tricia spoke to me, mainly because I couldn’t deny his words held truth.

Phoebe had every justification for her hatred toward me. I couldn’t claim I’d treated her well.

I was aware my temper brought destruction, and I’d accepted that reality, but Phoebe was different.

My mate wasn’t like the others. She embodied everything I craved and beyond.

I never wanted to hurt her, never wanted to bring her pain. That’s why her betrayal sliced through me so brutally.

After Elder Tricia finished his lecture, he departed, leaving me alone in the throne room with my spiraling thoughts.

I lost track of time completely until Timothy appeared, searching for me. His face was pale as death.

"I rounded them all up," he announced, his voice heavy with sorrow. He extended a blood-stained paper containing an extensive list of names.

The metallic scent of blood clung to him like a second skin.

It didn’t require brilliance to understand what had transpired.

Timothy had clearly tortured someone to extract this comprehensive roster.

I accepted the list and scanned the names. My vision darkened as I recognized half of them—people within my inner circle, individuals I’d known for years, and several I’d believed were devoted to me.

"Perry, you must remove Phoebe from that place immediately, or you’ll lose both her and the child.

You can’t subject her to this—she’s carrying your baby."

I remained silent, which only intensified Timothy’s frustration.

"Perry! Marcela warned she can’t provide more assistance than this! Phoebe’s condition is critical! She’s dying! Marcela granted me half a day to extract her, but she still can’t guarantee she can save her!"

I didn’t move, continuing to study the list, then rose to my feet. I completely disregarded Timothy’s presence.

"Where are you heading?" Timothy’s exasperation was palpable. He was at a loss for how to persuade me. He’d endured the agony of interrogating Cameron and enlisted Elder Tricia’s intervention.

Yet nothing succeeded. His head was pounding now.

Time was slipping away, and midday had already arrived.

"Perry! Where are you going?!" But as he trailed me from the throne room, the distant wail of alarms echoed throughout the palace.

We were under siege.

——

Sterling had no alternative but to spearhead the Movement to overthrow the king. Despite his lack of affection for his son, Kevin remained his only blood relative. He had no choice.

He’d maintained contact with Reginald, who was already positioned within the palace, and alongside a thousand warriors from three separate packs, he commanded the assault.

Additional warriors from other rebellious packs would arrive shortly as reinforcements.

This wasn’t their original strategy, but they were forced to risk everything they possessed.

Furthermore, the king had likely discovered the Movement and their objective. If not now, the opportunity would vanish.

He couldn’t allow the king to hunt them down first.

"I’ve assembled all warriors in the training grounds," Reginald reported, opening the gates for Sterling and his forces to enter the palace. "We’re prepared."

"Excellent." Sterling acknowledged.

Reginald then summoned one of his warriors. "He’ll guide you to the throne room. I’m heading to the dungeon to free Alpha Kevin and former Beta Cameron." The words still tasted bitter whenever he had to acknowledge Kevin as alpha.

Sterling nodded, then signaled his warriors to transform into their beasts. Within moments, they rampaged through the palace, slaughtering every warrior they encountered.

They caught them completely off-guard, preventing any chance to regroup. Eliminating scattered warriors proved simpler since shifters naturally attacked in large numbers. They required their leader.

Sterling struck before they could organize their ranks.

While the Obsidian Claw pack’s alpha hunted the king, Reginald descended to the dungeon to locate Kevin. He’d gathered sufficient intelligence to pinpoint his location.

"There you are..." Reginald grinned at Kevin, who sat hunched in his cell’s corner.

The Obsidian Claw pack’s alpha lifted his head, returning the look with a smirk. "Finally. Has my father arrived as well?"

"Yes, he’s leading the warriors to eliminate the king."

Reginald unlocked the cell. Only the two of them remained.

This cell differed from Phoebe’s prison or the interrogation chamber.

Meanwhile, the warriors assigned to guard this area had been ruthlessly killed, while Reginald’s forces stood sentinel, awaiting his rescue of the alpha and former beta.

"Perfect." Kevin smiled with satisfaction. He stood and brushed dirt from his pants. He looked terrible—bloodstains marked his shirt, though most wounds had healed. "Time to kill the king. But first, let’s visit my Phoebe."

"She’s pregnant," Reginald announced abruptly, causing Kevin to freeze mid-step, his back toward Reginald.

"Damn. Poor child. I won’t raise that Mad King’s offspring." Kevin moved toward the door. "I’m going..."

Kevin’s words died as excruciating pain tore through him. Looking down, he saw Reginald’s hand protruding through his chest.
