Chapter 288: Meeting Willow!

The moment Jax vanished from the administrative wing, the pressure lingering across the room disappeared with him.

Space folded seamlessly around his body, reality bending obediently beneath his will before reforming once more within the upper levels of the Demon King Palace.

Warm sunlight poured through the towering windows of the royal halls, illuminating the obsidian floors beneath his feet with soft golden reflections.

The atmosphere here was far calmer than the frantic coordination happening within the administrative district below.

All of the servants were just lingering, as they’d completed most of their work, and were now just talking to each-other about various topics.

When they spotted Jax, they nodded respectfully, and made way for him to walk peacefully.

Mana lanterns glowed softly overhead, illuminating his pathway as Jax moved, already having senses exactly where Seraphina was somewhere nearby.

His golden eyes flickered faintly with amusement as he knew what she was doing.

"...Easy to find." He chuckled to himself, as Seraphina’s mana signature had become strangely familiar in an absurdly short amount of time.

Following it, Jax walked through several connecting palace corridors before eventually arriving near one of the private courtyard gardens attached to the guest wing.

The moment he stepped outside, fresh air greeted him.

Beautiful black-and-crimson flowers lined the garden pathways.

Mana-infused water flowed gently through decorative streams while elegant trees swayed lightly beneath the morning breeze.

And near the center of the courtyard, Jax could immediately spot Seraphina sitting beside one of the small ponds while Serika was brushing her long purple hair very carefully.

The little Merfolk Princess looked significantly healthier already, just looking happier and cleaner, and all the lingering fear Jax saw that once previously dominated her facial expressions were now all gone.

Instead, Seraphina looked peaceful, very comfortable and safe in the environment Jax had provided for her.

As all of this was going on, Serika noticed Jax first, and the beautiful FoxKin immediately smiled at Jax, and then bowed slightly from her seated position.

"Welcome back, Your Majesty." Serika said with a cheerful and flirty wink towards Jax.

Seraphina spun around so fast she nearly lost balance.

"Jax!"

Before Serika could even finish brushing her hair, the little Princess jumped up and hurried toward him.

Jax barely had time to react before she wrapped herself around him again.

"...You disappeared," she mumbled accusingly.

Jax raised an eyebrow.

"I was gone for maybe an hour."

"That’s still disappearing."

Serika quietly covered her mouth, clearly amused.

Jax sighed through his nose before resting a hand lightly atop Seraphina’s head.

"...You’re dramatic."

"I learned from you."

That actually made him pause.

Then snort quietly.

"Yeah, alright. Fair."

Seraphina smiled proudly at successfully winning that exchange.

Meanwhile, Serika finally stood gracefully from beside the pond, her multiple fox tails swaying elegantly behind her.

"You seem busy today," she observed calmly.

Jax nodded once.

"I am."

His expression sharpened slightly afterward.

"I need to head somewhere."

Seraphina blinked up at him immediately.

"Where?"

"The Witch Dimension."

That got a visible reaction from both of them.

Serika’s eyes widened slightly with recognition, "...The Witches called for you?"

"Several times, something might be going on," Jax responded, and Serika’s expression immediately grew more serious.

"That’s unusual." She muttered.

"Very." Jax said.

Seraphina looked between them curiously.

"...Witches?"

Jax glanced down at her.

"Yeah."

"...Scary ones?"

Serika actually laughed softly at that.

"Some of them probably enjoy being called that."

Jax smirked faintly.

"They’re fine."

Seraphina tilted her head slightly, "Why are you going there?"

Jax answered honestly, "To figure out why they’ve been urgently trying to contact me."

The little Princess immediately looked worried.

"...Dangerous?"

Jax’s expression remained calm, "It’s never dangerous when I’m around, I can handle anything that happens,"

Her grip on his sleeve tightened slightly. Then, "...Can I come with you?"

Jax had already expected the question.

He looked toward Serika briefly. The fox-woman merely smiled knowingly.

"Seems you’ve been adopted."

"...Apparently."

Seraphina puffed her cheeks slightly.

"I did not adopt him."

Jax blinked once.

"...That’s the part you disagreed with?"

Serika outright laughed this time.

The little Princess looked deeply offended at not being taken seriously.

Jax eventually sighed softly.

"...Yeah. You can come."

Seraphina’s eyes lit up instantly.

"Really?!"

"Yeah."

The excitement radiating from her immediately afterward was almost overwhelming.

Serika crossed her arms lightly.

"Sabrina already suggested I accompany you as well."

Jax nodded.

"Good."

His gaze shifted between them.

"Get ready."

Seraphina blinked.

"...Ready for what?"

Jax smirked faintly.

"We’re crossing dimensions."

That earned complete silence for about three seconds.

"THAT’S SO COOL!"

Preparations didn’t take long. Serika handled most of it effortlessly, packing away additional clothes for Seraphina, travel enchantments, protective charms and emergency communication sigils.

Meanwhile, Seraphina spent most of the preparation process asking all sorts of different questions as she still hadn’t seen a Witch herself.

"Do witches fly on brooms?"

"Do they eat people?"

"Can they turn me into a frog?"

"Do they have magic cats?"

Jax answered exactly none of those questions properly. Which only encouraged her further. Eventually, however, they were ready.

The dimensional gateway chamber built beneath the palace activated shortly afterward. Massive arcane formations illuminated across the floor while ancient runes rotated slowly through the air.

The mana density within the chamber increased rapidly.

Seraphina stared in complete fascination.

"...Pretty..."

Jax stepped forward toward the center of the formation.

"Stay close."

Serika moved beside him immediately while Seraphina grabbed onto his arm without hesitation.

The dimensional magic surged and soon, they were transported to the Witches Dimension.

The moment they arrived, fresh air washed over them immediately. It was clean and refreshing, overflowing with rich natural mana that immediately calmed any nerves they might’ve had during the travel.

Seraphina’s violet eyes widened instantly as she saw the beautiful sights ahead, "...Whoa..."

Endless fields of vibrant flowers stretched across the landscape beneath a sky painted in soft cosmic hues.

Massive glowing trees towered in the distance.

Elegant stone pathways curved naturally through flourishing gardens and forests.

Crystal-clear rivers flowed peacefully beneath graceful bridges carved from shimmering white stone.

Mana drifted through the air like glowing fireflies.

And everywhere they could see were Witches. Beautiful women moved throughout the dimension naturally, many dressed in elegant flowing robes adorned with celestial patterns and ancient symbols.

The moment Jax appeared, the atmosphere shifted noticeably.

"Oh?"

"Is that—"

"He’s here."

Several witches turned immediately toward him, and almost instantly, beautiful smiles spread everywhere.

"King Jax."

"Welcome back."

"You disappeared for too long."

One particularly bold witch approached immediately, her silver hair flowing behind her as she smiled knowingly.

"You know," she purred lightly, "some of us thought you abandoned us."

Jax smirked faintly.

"Tempting."

That earned several soft laughs from nearby witches.

Seraphina blinked repeatedly while looking around in complete confusion.

"...They all know you."

Serika smiled knowingly beside her.

"They do."

"And they’re all really pretty..."

Jax glanced sideways at her.

"You sound surprised."

"...I don’t know what I expected from witches."

Another witch approached smoothly afterward, bowing her head respectfully.

"Lord Jax."

Despite the sensual warmth many witches carried toward him, there was also unmistakable respect, because every witch here knew exactly how powerful he was, and more importantly, they all trusted him.

Jax nodded lightly toward them.

"Good to see everyone’s still alive."

One witch laughed softly.

"Barely. Willow’s been impossible lately."

That immediately caught his attention. His eyes narrowed slightly.

"...Where is she?"

The nearby witches exchanged brief looks. Then one of them pointed toward the distant elevated gardens near the center of the dimension.

"At the Star Sanctuary."

Jax exhaled softly through his nose.

"...Right."

Before leaving, however, he looked toward Serika and Seraphina.

"You two stay nearby."

Seraphina immediately looked curious again.

"Can we explore?"

Jax considered briefly.

Then nodded once.

"Yeah."

Her eyes sparkled instantly.

"Really?!"

"Just don’t wander too far."

Serika placed a reassuring hand lightly atop the little Princess’s shoulder.

"I’ll keep an eye on her."

Jax’s gaze lingered on Seraphina briefly afterward.

"...And if anything feels dangerous—"

"I yell for you."

"Exactly."

She nodded rapidly.

"Okay!"

Jax smirked faintly before finally turning away. The witches parted naturally as he walked through the dimension.

Flower petals drifted lightly through the air around him while mana shimmered softly beneath the elegant bridges and rivers nearby.

The deeper he moved into the Witch Dimension, the quieter everything became until eventually, Jax reached the Star Sanctuary.

A massive elevated garden overlooking the endless magical landscape below. Ancient celestial formations rotated slowly through the air overhead. Stars glimmered unnaturally even in daylight.

And standing near the center of it all was Willow, her long green hair flowing down while her glowing emerald eyes reflected the cosmic magic surrounding the sanctuary.

Her eyes immediately locked onto his and for a brief moment, relief crossed her face. Then her lips curved softly.

"...You finally came."

Jax stopped several feet away from her. His gaze sharpened immediately.

"...Something’s wrong."

Willow’s expression slowly lost its warmth.

"...Very wrong."
