Chapter 202: Chapter 202 Hand Combat
Though Star blocked most of the attacks, each of them carried incredible force and even when defending she found herself being pushed back little by little.
"She’s being overwhelmed, but she hasn’t made an effort to attack. Is she waiting on something?" Freya muttered as she watched the fight.
"I told you that’s Ada’s specialty" Mia replied without taking her eyes off the fight, "No one can keep up to her in hand-to-hand combat"
Ada suddenly changed the rhythm of her attacks. She threw a fake punch toward Star’s chest before lowering her body.
Star reacted to the feint, and that single mistake was all Ada needed. Her fist exploded upward in a powerful uppercut that landed right on Star’s jaw. The impact lifted Star completely off the ground before she crashed several meters away and rolled across the dirt, sending dust flying into the air.
’Whoa!!’ Xavier reeled back a little after the attack. He knew for sure Star would be angry, but this probably won’t lead to her trying to kill Ada, or would it?
Several of the girls smiled and scoffed believing the duel was already over. Ada was one of the strongest among them and in close combat she was undefeated.
However, when the dust settled, Star calmly stood back up. She rubbed her jaw for a moment before looking at Ada with a small smile.
"That actually stung, Xavier was right, some humans really are powerful... I’m going to enjoy playing with this one"
Everyone looked closely at her and realized there was not a single bruise on her body, even the final attack which Ada thought she would need to visit a healer, Star had healed for k the attack.
Seeing this Xavier knew there was really no way he could defeat Star in hand-to-hand combat.
Ada narrowed her eyes, "That punch had enough force to break bones, yet she looks completely unharmed; it doesn’t matter since beastkin are more durable than humans after all"
Without wasting another moment, Ada rushed forward once again. This time she attacked with even greater speed and power. At first she was holding back, she wouldn’t want to injure her potential ally, but now that she knew Star could take a beating, she wasn’t holding back.
Her attacks became faster, her kicks heavier, and every strike was aimed at breaking through Star’s defense.
Star also increased her speed blocking as many attacks as she could, but Ada’s experience quickly showed as a punch slipped past Star’s guard and struck her stomach, another hit landed across her cheek, and a knee smashed into her side.
The force behind each attack was enough to knock out an ordinary person many times over, yet Star simply endured every blow. She staggered from the impacts but never looked seriously injured.
Xavier folded his arms and smiled as he watched. It looked like Star wasn’t trying to attack; she simply focused on defense to study Ada’s movement, and it was probably a good idea, because Xavier had seen what one of her punches could do.
Ada threw another punch toward Star’s face, but this time Star didn’t block it. Instead, she tilted her head slightly and allowed the fist to pass by her face.
The moment Ada missed, Star finally attacked.
Her fist shot forward with incredible speed. Ada barely managed to cross her arms before the punch landed against her guard.
The impact pushed Ada several meters backward, making her boots dig deep into the sand as she struggled to stop herself, and when she finally did, her eyes shot forward and a smile formed on her face.
"So that’s your real strength..." Ada muttered.
Star smiled before stepping forward. "My turn."
The next moment she vanished from where she was standing.
Ada’s eyes widened in surprise as Star’s speed suddenly shot up, but she could still barely follow her movement.
Star appeared beside her and threw another punch. Ada blocked the attack, but the force behind it shook her entire body. Before she could recover, Star drove her knee toward Ada’s stomach.
Ada twisted her body at the last second, reducing the impact before countering with a kick, a kick that Star caught with one hand, forcing Ada to quickly pull her leg free before throwing another punch.
Star answered with a punch of her own instead of blocking and their fists collided in the middle with a loud sound that sent a tiny shockwave across the training ground, causing dust to rise in every direction. Both of them were now using mana-infused attacks.
For the next few moments, neither of them gave the other a chance to breathe. Punches, kicks, elbows, knees, blocks, and counters flowed one after another. The speed of the battle continued increasing until most of the girls watching had to focus to follow their movements.
"They’re... equal?" Mia mumbled quietly.
"No," Xavier replied with a small smile. "Not anymore."
Ada’s breathing had already become heavier. Although her movements were still sharp, every exchange demanded more effort than before.
Star, on the other hand, looked more excited as the battle continued. She adapted to Ada’s fighting style with every passing second, becoming faster and stronger with every exchange.
Realizing she could not drag the battle out any longer, Ada unleashed everything she had. She launched a relentless combination of punches, putting all of her strength into one final assault.
Star was already done with the fight as she blocked every single attack before stepping inside Ada’s guard before she finished her combination and then she struck.
Her fist slammed directly into Ada’s stomach, forcing all the air out of her lungs and before Ada could recover, Star grabbed her wrist, spun her body around, and threw her high into the air showcasing her strength.
Ada flipped several times before landing on both feet. The force of the landing caused her feet to sink into the sand beneath her, but she ignored it and charged forward once again with a smile on her face.
Star smiled, clearly enjoying herself, before standing her ground and also preparing her attack.
The moment Ada entered striking distance, Star dashed forward vanishing for a split second.
She reappeared directly in front of Ada so suddenly that Ada’s eyes widened in shock but still Ada put up a block as Star attacked.
Star’s fist slammed into Ada’s crossed arms with overwhelming force, creating another loud explosion that blasted Ada backward across the training field.
Ada slid dozens of meters before finally stopping herself, her boots carving deep trenches into the sand. Her arms trembled from the impact, and she slowly lowered them as she struggled to steady her breathing.
Star calmly stood a few steps away, smiling as though the battle had barely tired her.
Ada looked at her shaking arms before letting out a deep breath. She already knew the outcome of the duel.
