Chapter 164: Chapter 167: Buying Gifts
The cashier carefully placed the phone box on the counter and smiled proudly, "Dear customer, this is the Samsung Galaxy S23, one of the newest and most powerful phones released this year," he said while gently opening the box to show the device inside.
"This phone is designed for people who want speed, power, and a premium experience every day. It runs on the newest processor which makes everything smooth, from gaming to multitasking, and the camera is also amazing for taking clear photos even at night."
He then lifted the phone slightly so Jeff could see the sleek design, "It also has a beautiful AMOLED display, strong battery life, and fast charging, so you can use it all day without worry."
"The storage is large, and the system is very secure. Many professionals and students love this model."
He said passing Jeff the model of the phone, holding it Jeff can only sigh inwardly.
"It’s still the S23, in my world, Samsung phones already dominate the whole phone industry because of their massive breakthroughs in phone technology," he thought.
He could not help but remember how advanced they were. They had wireless charging, strong Wi-Fi signals everywhere, even if you were deep underground or high above the planet.
They were also solar chargeable. Not only that, the parts used in those phones were extremely powerful, making them the best phones of all time.
But right now, the technology had not reached that level yet.
Maybe in about a hundred years or more, phones here might finally reach that stage.
"How much is this?" Jeff asked.
"The price of this brand new Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is ₱81,990. It is one of the best flagship phones available right now sir," the cashier said with a smile.
"How many of these do you have in stock?"
"For today, we only have one Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. The rest are the Plus and base models," he explained.
"I see, I want to buy ten Samsung Galaxy Plus and this one," Jeff said without even bothering to calculate the total price.
Because right now, he was already so rich that this amount is not a huge thing to him at all.
"Ahh... can you please say that again, sir?" the cashier asked, thinking he might have heard it wrong.
"I said give me ten of the Plus models and also this Ultra. I’ll pay by card if that’s possible," Jeff said as if it were just a casual purchase.
Even though this was his first time buying something like this, or even spending this much money, his original goal had been to save enough to buy a house for his family.
And he knows that sooner or later that dream will come, so for now Jeff had become a bit of a spendthrift since Monday money will come flowing.
He believed that once the new Minecraft was released, the money he spent now would return ten times or even more.
"This... this... Am I dreaming?" the cashier thought, almost wanting to wake himself up.
The purchase was huge, close to a million pesos.
"Sir, please allow me to call our manager to assist you. This is quite a large purchase," he said with a stiff smile.
Seeing his reaction, Jeff simply chuckled and nodded. The cashier immediately ran toward a door in a hurry, as if someone were chasing him.
"Wow, big brother, are you really going to buy a lot of phones?" one of the kids asked, staring at Jeff as if he were a god.
Since even a secondhand phone was something they could not afford, seeing this big brother buy many brand new phones shocked them.
"Yes," Jeff replied with a smile.
The four of them looked at each other in shock. Knowing that this big brother was really rich, they secretly hoped he might buy them phones too since he clearly had a lot of money.
But that thought slowly faded from their minds. Jeff had already given them so much, far more than their families could normally give.
So they simply stood there quietly and after about a minute, a man walked out of the office. When he saw Jeff, he showed a bright and professional smile.
Jeff followed the staff member toward the office at the back of the store. The manager was already waiting inside with a polite smile and stood up the moment Jeff entered the room.
"Good afternoon, sir. I’m the store manager, I’m here to continue the transaction" he said respectfully while showing his hands towards the door.
Clearly it was his office, and he was offering Jeff to sit inside to drink some tea.
Jeff accepted the invitation and told the kids to wait outside while he completed the purchase process.
He sat down calmly as the manager opened a catalog and placed a calculator on the table. Then the manager continued speaking.
"You mentioned that you would like to purchase ten Samsung Galaxy S23 Plus units and one S23 Ultra, correct?" the manager asked in a professional tone.
Jeff nodded without hesitation, confirming the order, being offered a tea of course he enjoyed it.
The manager quickly began calculating the total price while explaining the details of the purchase.
"The Galaxy S23 Plus costs ₱81,990 each, so ten units will be ₱819,900, and the S23 Ultra is ₱99,990," the manager said carefully.
"That brings the total to ₱919,890 pesos for all eleven phones."
The manager then looked at Jeff politely and folded his hands on the desk, "Since this is a large purchase, our store can provide a small bulk discount of 5% as a gesture of appreciation."
He typed the numbers again on the calculator and turned the screen toward Jeff, "After the discount, the total payment will be ₱873,895 pesos."
Jeff looked at the number briefly but did not react much.
But inwardly he was surprised but the fact that he can hide his emotions showed that he had great control of his self.
"I see," he replied cooly.
"Once the payment is completed, we will prepare all the phones immediately," the manager added with a respectful nod.
"We can also activate them or place them in sealed boxes, whichever you prefer."
Jeff simply nodded again, showing he understood. The manager then stood up politely and prepared the receipt and payment process.
He then took out his bank card and with a single swipe, the payment went through and everything was completed smoothly.
He also instructed the manager to wrap all the phones in gift boxes, especially the Ultra, which he wanted placed in a grand gift box.
Following his request, the staff quickly prepared everything. It only took about a minute before the packages were ready, and Jeff left the store while the manager politely saw him off.
After that, Jeff hailed a taxi. Before leaving, he said goodbye to the four kids.
Feeling satisfied from today’s journey, he gave each of them another 5,000 pesos, making the total they received around 10,000 pesos each.
Since he was rich now, he knew he had to slowly loosen his habit of being afraid to spend money.
After telling the driver where to go, the ride took about another 30 minutes. Soon, he arrived at the countryside where his little brother and father lived.
When he arrived outside the house, he noticed a man cooking a dish in front of the house.
