Chapter 3170: Chapter 3170
“Alliance Lord, the Azure Veil Galaxy’s main force is right ahead. Our people just pulled back.”
Fearing idle chatter would derail the moment, Cang Jinsong and the other alliance elders immediately reminded Ye Liuyun and the crowd.
Others who wanted to speak with Ye Liuyun had to swallow their words for now.
“I see them. They’re not moving either—so a few words won’t hurt,” Ye Liuyun said calmly.
“Are you confident you can handle them?” Li Yuanlang asked bluntly.
“Yes. Don’t worry, Master,” Ye Liuyun confirmed.
At that, the alliance elders broke into smiles, and most of the onlookers relaxed. Anyone still harboring doubts lacked the standing to voice them here; they could only mutter inwardly.
Moments later, commanders like Liu Kui, Ling Yuan, Zhao Hu, Mo Shaowen, and Liu Yang returned.
“Alliance Lord!”
“King Ye!”
“Boss!”
The greetings came in a jumble, the air suddenly lively again.
“Thank you for your hard work! Rest now—leave the rest to me!” Ye Liuyun cupped his hands in gratitude.
“Haha, kid, you’re finally back! Why do you look just as battered as the rest of us?” Zhao Hu laughed, himself drenched in blood.
“Heh, I just stepped off the battlefield myself,” Ye Liuyun replied; he and Zhao Hu had always gotten along.
“How many troops did you bring?” Zhao Hu asked straight out.
“The soldiers just finished a fight—only a few hundred are fit for battle,” Ye Liuyun said honestly.
The beastkin, Cui Daoran, Xiao Heng, and their men were still recuperating; there was no need to throw them back into the grinder. For now, the only force he could field was four hundred peak-ninth-tier elites.
His words set the alliance on edge again.
But seeing Ye Liuyun so relaxed, Zhao Hu wasn’t worried. “So what new super-weapon have you cooked up this time?”
Ye Liuyun chuckled. “Against these guys? No weapon needed.”
“Uh... you’re not planning to wipe out a hundred-thousand-man army with four hundred soldiers, are you?” Zhao Hu was dumbfounded.
The alliance turned to Ye Liuyun as one, anxiety plain on their faces. He still refused to give details, and it was eating at them.
Understanding their fear—unlike those who truly knew Ye Liuyun—Li Yuanlang spoke up. “Liuyun, the alliance has lost many lately. People fear we can’t defend our homes. If you have a plan, tell us outright so they can stop worrying. Plenty here don’t know you or your current strength. Give them something solid.”
“Indeed, Alliance Lord, we’re sick with worry,” Cang Jinsong and the other elders echoed.
Ye Liuyun sighed; he’d hoped to rest and catch up, but the tension was too thick. He rose.
“Very well, Master, Elders—just watch the show. No need to lift a finger.”
With that, he flickered and vanished. When he reappeared, he stood before the enemy host, the Demon-Slayer Blade sweeping out in a single horizontal arc.
“Where’d he go?” Many hadn’t even spotted his departure.
But it didn’t take long before someone spotted the commotion in the enemy ranks
“Over there—they’re fighting!” someone shouted
Every eye finally swung toward the far side
“Holy crap, is this kid really charging straight in?” Zhao Hu gaped, stunned
What they saw was Ye Liuyun swinging his saber and palm almost lazily, reaping soldiers in swathes
Next, bolts of heavenly lightning crashed into the enemy lines, followed by a golden fire-crow that darted through the army, leaving only ash in its wake
“Boss, what realm has your disciple reached?” Zhao Hu blurted, unable to wait
“I haven’t had a chance to ask,” Li Yuanlang replied with a faint smile, eyes fixed on the battle as he murmured to himself
A Unity Six enemy expert broke through and lunged at Ye Liuyun—only to be cleaved in half by a single saber strike. Ye hadn’t even used divine essence; pure saber intent and the might of heaven and earth were enough to shatter the cultivator’s defense
Layer upon layer of folded void and the grand momentum of heaven and earth wrapped around Ye Liuyun; ordinary soldiers couldn’t get within striking distance
He didn’t bother summoning his elite troops either—he was simply using these low-level soldiers for practice. After fighting top-tier experts for so long, mowing down weaker foes felt effortless
The enemy’s stronger cultivators sensed Ye Liuyun’s Unity Six cultivation, so their commander never considered retreat. One man, no matter how strong, couldn’t exhaust an army of a hundred thousand
He drove the encirclement tighter and roared, “Don’t stop! Keep pressing forward! Grind him down! Break their morale!”
Back at the alliance lines, everyone was dumbstruck
“Should we go help?” Zhao Hu couldn’t help asking
“He specifically told you not to. You’d only get in the way. Stay put and let him train.”
Li Yuanlang’s tone was final; he was genuinely afraid Zhao Hu and the rest would barge in and force Ye Liuyun to rescue them
Mo Shaowen, Liu Yang, and the others were already speculating whether Ye Liuyun would wipe out the entire hundred-thousand-man army alone
“With the boss looking that relaxed, he’s clearly using them for practice.”
“If the enemy tries to flee, he can’t possibly stop them all by himself, right?”
None of them doubted Ye Liuyun’s strength; his mere presence had put them completely at ease
Ye Liuyun himself grew more focused by the moment. One soul immersed itself in the insights of saber intent and the power of heaven and earth, while the other unleashed lightning and flame to keep the enemy from forming ranks, all the while tracking the army’s overall movements
Occasionally someone hurled a soul attack at his sea of consciousness, but he didn’t care—at first he simply absorbed every assault
Eventually the enemy went all-in: squad after squad released their souls, hoping to burst his mind
Ye Liuyun merely smiled, shifted a Soul-Sealing Bead into his consciousness, and yanked each soul inside as it arrived. When one bead filled up, he handed it off to his demonic beasts and women for absorption
He swapped in a fresh bead, filled it, passed it to Yu Xiaofeng and the others, borrowed their empty beads, and kept going—until the enemy was too terrified to launch another soul attack
An hour later, the encirclement around Ye Liuyun had shrunk to a fraction of its original size; the entire front third of the army had been slaughtered single-handedly
Throughout, Ye Liuyun kept swinging his saber, striking with his palm, and unleashing thunder and fire, yet he never tired—his divine essence hadn’t dipped in the slightest.
