Chapter 2949: Chapter 2949
Ye Liuyun had encountered ancient demons before and knew that not all of them were as straightforward as Heiyan and Shayin.
Some were exceedingly cunning, scheming with a skill that rivaled even human martial cultivators. It was simply that Heiyan and Shayin had little exposure to the outside world and lacked experience.
Wuxing and his group immediately halted, not daring to charge forward any further, wary of the two massive orbs unleashing their full firepower. Still, this distance was more than enough for them to launch an attack—they didn’t need to get too close.
They had rushed to this position in one breath, already preparing to strike.
Yet Wuxing still reached out telepathically to negotiate with Ye Liuyun. "That token capable of emitting golden light is the key to our return to the Primordial World. Hand it over, and we won’t need to fight."
Ye Liuyun, however, countered, "That token *absorbs* you to send you back to the Primordial World. What use do you have for it?
And don’t bother threatening me. Even if we do fight, I’m not afraid of you!"
As he spoke, he summoned seven more massive orbs. Four of them fanned out behind and above him, forming a protective barrier, while the remaining three were instantly teleported to hover behind Wuxing and his group, encircling them.
These orbs had been hastily crafted by Qiong Qi, Tongxin, and the others in recent days. Only this many had been completed so far, as they needed to observe their effectiveness before making further refinements.
Wuxing was startled—he hadn’t expected Ye Liuyun to possess even more of these orbs. Yet he didn’t back down, instead calmly continuing negotiations. "That token belongs to the Primordial World, not you. If you feel you’re suffering a loss, I can compensate you with resources.
And don’t think these orbs can stop us. If we truly wanted to kill you, they wouldn’t be enough to stand in our way."
As soon as Wuxing finished speaking, the two ancient demons—Blood King and spirit master—unleashed their respective pressures: one exuding a crushing bloodline aura, the other a suffocating soul force. Wuxing, too, released his own oppressive energy, all of it bearing down on Ye Liuyun.
Their plan was to overwhelm him with sheer pressure, rendering him immobile and easy to capture.
The force of their combined might shuddered through Ye Liuyun’s body. In response, the Divine Command Token within his consciousness erupted with radiant light, shielding him.
*"I can barely withstand the bloodline pressure... but that soul force is truly formidable!"* Ye Liuyun silently assessed the strength of the two ancient demons.
At the same time, his own power of bloodline began circulating within his body, helping him resist the oppressive force of their auras.
Wu Xing’s true essence pressure was indeed formidable, enough to slightly hinder his combat abilities—though it didn’t impede his movements.
"Fire!"
Ye Liuyun barked the order without hesitation, commanding the nine massive orbs to unleash their barrage. He feared any delay would allow the enemy to close in.
A torrent of energy beams instantly surged toward Wu Xing and the others.
At first, Wu Xing and his companions had inwardly gloated at Ye Liuyun’s reaction, but their smugness vanished the moment they realized he could withstand the combined pressure of all three of them. Worse still, he didn’t even bother negotiating further—just opened fire without warning.
Wu Xing reacted swiftly, hurling out a treasure—a shield—to block the attacks from behind while simultaneously summoning six skeletal puppets to intercept the orbs’ frontal assault.
Meanwhile, the ancient demon known as the spirit master immediately unleashed a dominant soul force, plunging straight into Ye Liuyun’s consciousness. At the same time, Wu Xing and the Blood King charged forward, pressing their assault.
But the moment the spirit master’s soul force invaded Ye Liuyun’s mind, it was severed from its source. The backlash struck instantly, forcing the spirit master to cough up a mouthful of blood with a choked "Pfft!" Enraged, it let out a furious roar and lunged toward Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun wasted no time, summoning the Demon-Sealing Stele and the Demon Vine to jointly attack Wu Xing. Both the stele and the vine had recently broken through their limits, making them just strong enough to contend with Wu Xing together—though individually, neither stood a chance.
By now, the six puppets Wu Xing had deployed had already been obliterated under the relentless barrage of energy cannons, their shattered bones scattering in all directions. Even the shield treasure Wu Xing had thrown up was blasted away by three of the massive orbs.
Ye Liuyun retreated further, giving the orbs free rein to unleash their firepower without worrying about hitting him.
Wu Xing, meanwhile, struggled against the Demon-Sealing Stele’s suppression, desperately trying to push it away while fending off the Demon Vine’s constricting coils. Once the vine wrapped around his body, the energy cannons ceased firing at him to avoid friendly fire.
As for the spirit master, its physical form was never its strong suit, and its true essence lacked density. Pincered between two energy cannons, it crumpled almost instantly. Though it tried shielding itself with treasures, they were all blasted aside.
Realizing it couldn’t withstand the orbs’ onslaught, the spirit master made a snap decision—releasing its remaining subordinate soul forces into Ye Liuyun’s consciousness. It would rather die than remain ignorant of how Ye Liuyun had subdued its soul.
Ye Liuyun could no longer spare any attention for it. Since it was determined to die, he might as well grant its wish.
Meanwhile, the Divine Command Token, having absorbed a vast number of celestial bodies, had grown even more powerful. Now, dealing with the ancient demon’s formidable soul was effortless—it didn’t even give the demon a chance to resist before dissolving both of its spiritual essences.
As for the Blood King, it conjured a sphere of demonic energy to shield itself from the energy cannon’s bombardment. Though the dark sphere flickered violently under the relentless assault, it held firm for the moment, allowing the Blood King to continue advancing toward Ye Liuyun.
The Dark Star, meanwhile, frantically hurled out treasures in an attempt to fend off the Demon-Sealing Stele, but its efforts had little effect. Both the stele and the demonic vines were rapidly draining its power, severely hampering its combat capabilities.
In desperation, it summoned two skeletal puppets—each at the Third Level of the Unity Realm—to help bear the weight of the stele. But to its dismay, the Demon-Sealing Stele’s suction remained fixed on it alone. The stele grew ever larger, looming like a mountain, and the two puppets could barely lift it.
By now, the Blood King had closed in on Ye Liuyun, forcing the energy cannons to cease fire to avoid hitting him. The Blood King unleashed its full bloodline pressure, bearing down on Ye Liuyun with crushing force.
"Is this all you’ve got?"
Ye Liuyun was already weighing his options—whether to capture the Dark Star and the Blood King alive or simply kill them outright.
But the Dark Star, stubborn to the end, released all the vengeful spirits it had collected, including two at the Fourth Level of the Unity Realm. It also deployed its entire arsenal of skeletal puppets, commanding them to push against the Demon-Sealing Stele in unison.
Having witnessed the fate of the spirit master, the Dark Star knew what had transpired. Yet it refused to believe Ye Liuyun possessed such strength on his own, convinced instead that some treasure hidden in his sea of consciousness was responsible. If it overwhelmed him with all its spirits at once, it reasoned, whatever artifact he relied on would surely be overwhelmed.
"Since you insist on resisting, so be it."
Ye Liuyun paid it no further mind, focusing instead on countering the Blood King’s bloodline pressure.
