Chapter 2909: Chapter 2909
The remaining dozen or so elite martial cultivators from the Wan family surrendered, but Ye Liuyun and his clone took turns using them as practice dummies, crushing each one to death with the power of Heaven and Earth.
Seizing this opportunity, Ye Liuyun not only honed his skills but also gained a thorough understanding of his newfound mastery over the power of Heaven and Earth.
"Who would’ve thought that with this enhanced power, I could even kill martial cultivators at the first or second level of the Unity Realm! The Tang family’s training truly is formidable—no wonder their disciples are so strong!"
Ye Liuyun now believed that the secret realm where he cultivated the power of Heaven and Earth was far more valuable than the Berserk Battle Secret Realm. If given the chance, he wouldn’t hesitate to steal that one too.
Once the martial cultivators finished cleaning up the battlefield, Ye Liuyun recalled them into his spatial world and stored all the corpses in a Interspatial Ring before immediately returning to the Tang family’s Mission Hall.
From the time he registered the mission to his return, less than two hours had passed. The registrar assumed he had come back to clarify something.
To his astonishment, Ye Liuyun announced outright, "The mission is complete."
"What? Already?" The registrar was dumbfounded.
"Please verify, Elder." Ye Liuyun handed over the Interspatial Ring.
The registrar instinctively swept it with his divine sense, then his eyes widened in shock as he meticulously examined each corpse. Though some were unrecognizable and a few were reduced to only their core elixirs, most could indeed be confirmed as members of the Wan family.
"All of them? So quickly?"
The registrar was practically speechless.
"Not a single one escaped," Ye Liuyun confirmed with a nod.
"Since when is the Fifth Elder recruiting disciples this strong? He just took a stroll and wiped out so many experts?"
Even now, the registrar found it hard to believe, so he double-checked the corpses in the Interspatial Ring once more.
"Elder, can you confirm the mission is completed?" Ye Liuyun pressed.
The attendant, startled by his question, quickly responded, "Wait a moment. I need to verify with the Hall Master."
With that, the attendant took the Interspatial Ring and went straight to the Task Hall Master.
This mission had originally been obtained by the elders of the Task Hall and then released for disciples to undertake as training. They had assumed only disciples joining the expeditionary force could eliminate those powerful targets, so they hadn’t sent anyone to monitor the situation beforehand. They planned to dispatch overseers only after the disciples organized themselves and formally accepted the mission.
After registering Ye Liuyun, the attendant never expected him to complete the mission so swiftly—before it could even be reported.
The entire battle process had gone unnoticed by the Tang Family elders. Uncertain, the attendant had no choice but to consult the Hall Master.
"What? He killed them all?" Tang Fengyu, the Task Hall Master, exclaimed in shock.
He snatched the Interspatial Ring and examined it closely before finally letting out a relieved sigh.
"The wounds do indicate the presence of feral beast, but there are signs of multiple attackers. He must have had help!"
If it were truly confirmed that Ye Liuyun had accomplished this alone, it would have sent shockwaves through the entire Tang Family.
"Confirm the mission completion. The targets are indeed eliminated," Tang Fengyu said, tossing the ring back to the attendant. As long as it wasn’t solely Ye Liuyun’s doing, he didn’t care much.
"Are we certain he did it alone?" the attendant asked.
"Who cares if he had help? Securing assistance is part of his capability. As long as the mission’s done, just approve it as registered!" Tang Fengyu replied dismissively.
"Understood," the attendant acknowledged before returning to inform Ye Liuyun.
Ye Liuyun successfully received his reward—15,000 contribution points from this single mission, enough to exchange for a wealth of resources.
He returned once more to the General Affairs Hall, spending a few extra points to have someone immediately repair his courtyard gate.
Not wanting to waste time waiting idly, he left the Tang residence again and wandered aimlessly through the streets. Thunderclaw perched on his shoulder, its head swiveling left and right as it curiously took in the surroundings.
As he passed by the tavern where he had stayed before, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure seated at a table in the main hall, gazing out at the street.
"Qin Mengxi? What is she doing here?" Ye Liuyun was utterly baffled.
Qin Mengxi wore a troubled expression. Though dishes were laid out before her, she had barely touched them, her attention fixed on the passersby. When her eyes landed on Ye Liuyun, she glanced at him briefly—and at Thunderclaw on his shoulder—before quickly looking away.
Ye Liuyun had now assumed the appearance of Tang Xiaofeng, so she didn’t recognize him. She had never seen Thunderclaw before either, but the sight of a beast perched so casually on its master’s shoulder was unusual enough to draw a second glance.
"Could she be looking for me?" Ye Liuyun wondered silently, then strode directly toward her.
Qin Mengxi noticed his gaze and stiffened slightly as he approached, her curiosity piqued.
"Do you need something?" she asked warily.
Only then did Ye Liuyun remember his altered appearance. He quickly replied, "I’m Tang Xiaofeng, an inner disciple of the Tang family. I just thought you looked somewhat familiar, so I came over to ask. I hope I’m not disturbing you."
"My name is Qin Mengxi. I think you must be mistaken—I’ve never left home before, let alone met anyone from the Tang family," she said.
"Oh!" Ye Liuyun nodded, then ventured further, "Forgive my boldness, but may I ask why you’ve come to our Tang family’s territory? Are you here alone?"
"I’m looking for someone. And yes, I came alone." Seeing that he spoke politely and didn’t seem like a troublemaker—especially in the uniform of an inner disciple—she answered truthfully.
"This girl has no experience at all, yet she dares to wander around by herself. It’s a miracle she’s survived this long!"
Ye Liuyun mused silently before offering, "Who is it you’re searching for, Miss Qin? Perhaps I can help."
Encouraged by his willingness to assist—and aware of the many eyes now watching them—Qin Mengxi gestured for him to sit. "Then I’ll thank you in advance, Mr. Tang. I don’t know anyone here, so your help might make finding him easier."
She continued, "The man I’m looking for is named Ye Liuyun. He has golden pupils, wields a blade, and is about your age. He stayed here once before, accompanied by two servants—an elderly man in his fifties or sixties, and a young woman."
As she spoke, she pulled out a portrait of Ye Liuyun and showed it to him.
Qin Mengxi’s flying vessel had been slower, so she arrived much later than Ye Liuyun—though it had already been over three months now. She had searched everywhere for traces of him, eventually paying a merchant guild to commission the portrait based on descriptions. After great effort, she had confirmed that Ye Liuyun had once stayed in the area, but since then, all leads had gone cold.
