Chapter 2778: Chapter 2778
Dealing with the alien army was manageable, but confronting their elite warriors was something even Ye Liuyun dared not take lightly.
Ye Liuyun described the appearance of the blue-armored commander to his own alien squad, and to his surprise, many of the alien warriors reacted with shock. That blue-armored alien with the broken horn turned out to be a well-known elder from their homeworld.
This was no ordinary elder—he was a high-ranking figure within the Alien Council.
The Alien Council consisted of eleven elders from different species, governing all affairs of their kind. For Broken Horn to personally lead this campaign was anything but ordinary.
The blue-armored aliens were widely recognized as the strongest in overall combat prowess and the most strategically brilliant among their kind. Wherever they appeared, they almost invariably assumed command.
Thus, everyone concluded that a major battle was imminent.
Ye Liuyun immediately notified Yuan Hao and Xiao Yunfang, instructing them to have their troops rest and prepare for combat. Against such a formidable force, his own strength alone would never suffice.
He even alerted Yu Xiaofeng, Qin Peng, and Kuishan, ensuring they were ready to reinforce the encirclement if needed. In large-scale warfare, numbers were always an advantage.
However, the aliens remained aboard their warships, and with no clue about their destination, Ye Liuyun could only trail them from a distance.
He briefly considered deploying the Spirit Cat warship to attack one of the massive alien vessels. But those behemoths relied on energy-based defenses—fully charged, they could withstand assaults for months. Any reckless strike would only expose his presence.
So Ye Liuyun opted to stay cloaked, shadowing them patiently while waiting for an opportunity.
For over two months, he and his doppelgänger took turns monitoring the three colossal warships from afar. Finally, they witnessed one of the vessels dispatch a small skiff.
Aboard the skiff was a blue-armored alien at the eighth level of Dominance, accompanied by two red-armored aliens, two three-eyed aliens, and two winged aliens—all at the seventh level of Dominance. Additionally, twenty more aliens at the sixth level of Dominance followed, making a total of twenty-seven elite warriors.
Once the skiff emerged, it veered eastward—a deviation from the fleet’s original course. Meanwhile, the fleet itself slowed its advance.
Seeing this, Ye Liuyun summoned his doppelgänger to keep watch on the warships while he mustered all his spatial power, accelerating at full speed to pursue the skiff.
He pursued the flying vessel for nearly half a month before his golden pupils faintly discerned a sizable star system directly ahead.
Having spent so much time navigating the cosmos, he could estimate the scale of a star system at a glance, even from a great distance. At this range, it would still take him one or two months to reach it. Yet, the mere fact that he could already make out its silhouette suggested this star system was extraordinary—likely more than twice the size of the Wolfhunter Star System.
After another half-month of trailing the vessel, Ye Liuyun finally saw the star system in its entirety. Its size matched his earlier estimate. However, this was unmistakably a demonic star system, with every planet exuding demonic energy. He could faintly perceive that it was densely populated by demons.
For the alien invaders, such a demonic star system would be a perfect target—no wonder they were going to such lengths.
Just then, another flying vessel approached from the direction of the demonic star system. The two vessels met and came to a halt.
The demonic vessel’s hatch opened, and a blue-armored alien emerged, followed by several demons—likely under its control.
The aliens promptly stowed their own vessel and boarded the demonic one. The red-armored alien who entered immediately performed a soul search on the blue-armored alien to ensure it hadn’t been compromised. Meanwhile, another red-armored alien, a seventh-level Dominator, donned an invisibility cloak and stationed itself outside the vessel, keeping pace with it.
Ye Liuyun observed all this but dared not act.
He now realized just how cunning these blue-armored aliens were. Their fleet had deliberately avoided heading directly toward this demonic star system, clearly to prevent early detection by the demons.
Yet, they had already planted spies here long in advance. Before launching their attack, they even sent a team of elites to verify the situation. And to top it off, they stationed a red-armored alien outside to prevent any spiritual detection.
All these signs pointed to one conclusion: the blue-armored aliens were meticulous and cautious to an extreme. Ye Liuyun couldn’t risk striking the cloaked red-armored alien—it might alert the entire operation.
*If we ever face their main force in battle, these blue-armored aliens will be formidable opponents indeed!* he thought grimly. The coming war would be anything but easy.
Thus, he resolved to gather as much intelligence as possible about this alien army before making his move.
The aliens, now aboard the demonic vessel, headed toward a remote planet on the outskirts. Ye Liuyun followed at a distance. Even before drawing near, his golden pupils revealed that the demons on this planet lived in tribal communities, their cultivation levels relatively low—the strongest among them only at the third level of Dominator. They stood no chance against these invaders.
Sure enough, when the demonic vessel landed near a tribal settlement, the entire demon tribe came out to welcome the aliens.
"It seems the entire tribe has fallen under their control!" Ye Liuyun continued to observe the situation closely.
As the alien beings entered the settlement, Ye Liuyun spotted the two red-armored figures they had brought along. The blue-armored alien then conducted a thorough mental scan of several demons to ensure nothing was amiss before finally pulling out a communication talisman to relay their message.
Soon after, Ye Liuyun received word from his doppelganger—the alien fleet had also changed course, now heading straight for the demonic star system.
"Looks like they’ve gathered enough intel to launch an outright attack!"
With that thought, Ye Liuyun cloaked himself and infiltrated another demon tribe, targeting its chieftain for a memory extraction to gather intel about the region.
This entire star system, known among the demons as the Scorpion Star Cluster, was organized into loosely connected tribal factions that had coexisted for centuries.
From the chieftain’s memories, Ye Liuyun learned that some of the more powerful demon tribes boasted warriors at the eighth level of the Dominator Realm. Occasionally, such formidable figures would even pass through this very planet.
However, the chieftain knew little about the aliens or other critical details, suggesting this world was rather isolated—and its inhabitants, not particularly strong.
Finding little useful information, Ye Liuyun left and used the Thousand Illusions technique to disguise himself as a demon before stealthily approaching the tribe occupied by the aliens.
His plan was to capture a few of them to uncover their motives before making his move. But pulling that off without alerting the rest would be no easy feat.
For now, he decided to scout the area and assess the situation.
Upon arrival, he concealed his presence, moving with extreme caution to avoid detection. From a distance, he kept watch, hoping some of the aliens would venture out on patrol—giving him the perfect opportunity to strike.
