Chapter 2379: Chapter 2379 Stygian Exclusive Training
Taking advantage of the chaos in Lord Zhenxing’s estate, Ye Liuyun threw himself into completing more missions, pushing his rank up to level six.
The moment he advanced, he caught the attention of the Stygian Organisation. One day, right after submitting a completed mission, his handler told him to wait as someone from Stygian headquarters wanted to speak with him.
After a short wait, a martial practitioner draped in a black robe emerged to meet him.
Ye Liuyun discreetly assessed the man with his Golden Phantom Eyes, and couldn’t help but gasp sharply.
The man’s genuine energy far surpassed any Omnipotent Level expert he had encountered. He estimated this person’s power was on par with the Demon Vine.
"What lies beyond the Omnipotent Level?" The question lingered in Ye Liuyun’s mind.
The black-robed man quietly evaluated Ye Liuyun in return.
With his Golden Phantom Eyes concealed, there was nothing outwardly remarkable about him.
"You may call me Sero," the man introduced himself. "I’m in charge of teaching our members here at Stygian headquarters."
Ye Liuyun remained silent and waited for him to continue.
"Given your current rank and performance, you are qualified to join our specialised training," Sero went on. "We’d like to know if you’re interested in undergoing Stygian’s exclusive program."
"What are the conditions?" Ye Liuyun raised the question.
"Reaching rank three or higher," Sero replied bluntly.
"That’s it? And what else?" Ye Liuyun probed again.
Wuchen chuckled. "That’s all. We have no additional demands or restrictions. As for what comes after that, your current clearance isn’t high enough to know."
"What does the training entail? How long will it take? Are there any restrictions?"
Ye Liuyun understood the strict hierarchy of the Stygian organisation, but he needed more details. Going in blindly would only make him a pawn in someone else’s game.
"The purpose of the training is to enhance the strength of Stygian’s members, enabling them to take on more challenging missions. By the end of the training, your power could approach, or even surpass, my level."
Sero explained further, "The duration isn’t fixed. You’ll train while carrying out missions, so your freedom won’t be restricted. However, you must keep the training content confidential. We will bind you with a Divine soul contract to ensure you never disclose it."
After a few moments of consideration, Ye Liyun figured there wasn’t any downside for him to join the program.
"What is your current level? What comes after the Omnipotent Level?" Ye Liuyun had to press on to quench his curiosity.
Sero chuckled at his impatience. "The Omnipotent Level that you know of is just a blanket term for what lies beyond the Immortal Realm. Most are clueless about what comes next, so they lump it all under Omnipotent Level."
"The level beyond the Omnipotent level is called the Celestial Unity Realm. It was the fusion of individual strength with the power of heaven and earth. However, Celestial Unity contain only three stages, each with an immense gap between them, requiring vast amounts of time to break through."
"Most martial practitioners were stuck at the first stage because they either don’t understand the essence of Celestial Unity or take the wrong path in their cultivation."
"Ironically, at level one of Celestial Unity, beasts and Devils often advance faster than humans. Perhaps, they’re far more attuned to the forces of nature."
"Celestial Unity Level..." Ye Liuyun murmured the name, almost in awe.
"What do you think? Are you interested in growing stronger?" Sero nudged him for an answer.
"Of course! But I haven’t even reached the Omnipotent level yet. Why would Stygian choose me?" Ye Liuyun asked in bafflement.
Among Stygian members’ ranks, his current strength was relatively low.
"Precisely because you’re not there yet," Sero replied. "You’re easier to mould. Once you reach the Omnipotent Level, even if you push further, you’ll eventually hit a ceiling. It was the case with me. You’ll hit a dead end."
"So you’re saying that my current level is the key to my future breakthroughs?" Ye Liuyun grasped the implication. Perhaps there was some crucial cultivation secret between the advanced ninth level and the Omnipotent Level.
Sero nodded approvingly. "Sharp as ever! Indeed, your current level determines whether you can break through and reach the Celestial Unity Level.
"And, the faster you advance within the Stygian, the greater your contributions will be. Training you now is an investment. It is for you to better serve the organisation in the future."
"Well then, I accept the training!" Ye Liuyun agreed without hesitation.
Sero nodded in satisfaction and drew up a confidentiality contract with him.
The terms were straightforward. It was to ensure Ye Liuyun wouldn’t disclose any details about the training. There weren’t any other restrictions.
"Follow me. I’ll lead you to the secret realm where the training takes place."
Sero led him through a side door of the chamber.
One reserved exclusively for the organisation’s executives, a passage Ye Liuyun had never seen before.
Beyond the entrance lay a long corridor lined with private rooms behind the closed doors. It was used by the executive members for discreet movements.
At the far end stood three dimensional gateways.
Stopping before the leftmost portal, Sero explained, "All Stygian secret realms follow this same layout and are interconnected to this passage."
"The left gateway leads to the training dimension. The centre one connects to headquarters, and the right one grants access to the executives’ living quarters."
"Hand me your insignia. I’ll grant you access to the training dimension. After this, you’ll be free to enter here as you please. If you wish to leave this passage, simply exit through any of these private rooms."
Ye Liuyun passed him his insignia, allowing Sero to imprint it with a trace of his Divine Sense. Then, together, they stepped through a shimmering portal into a secret realm.
Right as Ye Liuyun stepped out of the portal, he was greeted by countless portal entrances leading to various secret realms. Beside each portal was a small sign indicating which city the portal was connected to, ensuring no one would get lost on their return journey.
Beyond this area lay a cluster of private courtyards.
"These are temporary lodgings for trainees," Sero explained as he led the way. "You can rest here during the training, but no outside guests are allowed."
He pointed toward a grand hall up ahead. "That’s where trainees gather to eat and relax. Everything inside is free of charge. You are free to explore."
While Sero was giving the rundown, he found an unoccupied courtyard and settled Ye Liuyun in.
"Rest up for now. Training officially begins tomorrow, and I’ve got some arrangements for you."
"Thank you," Ye Liuyun thanked him before stepping inside to explore his temporary quarters.
The courtyard was modest. It was a cultivation chamber, completed with a bedroom with bathing facilities, and some basic furniture and decor. Nothing extravagant or out of the ordinary.
Then, he headed toward the Grand Hall opposite the courtyard to scout the area.
His Divine sense detected numerous Stygian operatives residing in the neighbouring courtyards. Inside the Grand Hall, small groups chatted idly. He figured mingling around with them would yield some clues about the upcoming training.
