Chapter 2337: Chapter 2337 Bait

The clone looked at Old Specter’s interspatial ring and couldn’t help but mutter, "This old man really is as poor as he said!"

The clone then drew Old Specter’s cane towards him. After all, it was a god-tier weapon capable of blocking Starrazor, so the clone didn’t consider the effort wasted.

At this point, the injuries on his palm had completely healed.

This moment not only impressed Hei Feng but also shocked the martial practitioners in the tavern.

The reason these martial practitioners feared Old Specter was because of his unpredictable and lethal methods, as well as his ability to poison others.

But the clone dared to take Old Specter’s interspatial ring and weapon, earning their respect.

"Are you going to make a move on me?" Hei Feng asked the clone.

"I told you, I don’t want to kill you yet!" the clone reassured her, worried she might think he intended to kill her or that she’d try to fight him to the death.

Unexpectedly, Hei Feng misunderstood even further. She thought the clone might have other intentions.

She used her genuine energy to push the poison into her hand, pretending to falter from the poison and collapse into the clone’s arms.

The clone quickly caught her. He used his divine energy to draw out the poison while simultaneously unleashing his Divine Soul into her Ocean of Consciousness, planting a Slaving Seal on her.

At first, Hei Feng thought she had poisoned him upon contact. To her surprise, the clone began drawing the toxins out of her body.

"He can detox?" Hei Feng felt a glimmer of hope, thinking she might be saved. However, she quickly realized that the clone had launched a Divine Soul attack on her.

A cold shiver ran down Hei Feng’s spine as she feared the clone was attempting to control her mind through his Divine Soul.

"You’re overthinking," the clone quickly sensed her thoughts and reassured her. "I don’t want to control you. I just need some information."

He immediately began soul-searching, probing Hei Feng’s Ocean of Consciousness for any details about the Stygian.

What he found was that since joining the Stygian, Hei Feng hadn’t taken any outside contracts. She had only eliminated other assassins within the organization.

This situation made it hard to determine whether the Stygian wanted to eliminate her.

However, her suspicions weren’t entirely unfounded. After all, why would so many assassins from Stygian be on her tail?

Given the circumstances, the clone couldn’t decide whether or not to eliminate Hei Feng.

"Forget it, I’ll leave it for a few more days," the clone decided.

Realizing that the clone had no ulterior motives, Hei Feng felt quite embarrassed. It turned out that she had overthought the situation.

However, now that the Slaving Seal had been placed on her, she had no choice but to follow his orders.

Once the clone had completely cleansed her of the toxins, he stored her in the Spatial World and then left with Zhao Hu and Yu Yao.

The other martial practitioners saw that Hei Feng had recovered and was now protected by two Omnipotent Level experts. They didn’t dare to stop them and could only watch as the group left.

The clone kept his Divine Sense active, scanning the surroundings. He quickly confirmed that no one was following them.

However, he did sense a faint Divine Sense that seemed to be intermittently probing their movements.

Familiar with assassin tactics, Ye Liuyun quickly deduced that a skilled assassin was likely tracking him.

When they returned to the city, he didn’t go back to the inn but instead headed to the Treasure Guild, where he bought a separate estate. He instructed Zhao Hu and Yu Yao to stay outside while the captured formation master, Lao Yuanfeng, set up defensive formations inside the house and rooms.

Once the formations were in place, Ye Liuyun released Hei Feng.

Hei Feng was quick on the uptake. She immediately understood that the clone was using her as bait to attract more assassins. Yet, she knew she couldn’t resist for now, so she took out a Spirit Crystal and began cultivating to regain her strength as quickly as possible.

The clone also instructed Zhao Hu and Yu Yao to retreat to their rooms to meditate, remaining alert for any potential assassins.

He began his own cultivation, focusing on suppressing his advance energy. He needed to wait for the fusion of Ye Liuyun’s Golden Phantom Eyes and the foreign race’s Third Eye so they could break through together.

To prevent interruptions, he summoned Devil Vines to secure the estate’s underground defenses. Meanwhile, Phantom Hands were deployed to remain hidden within the rooms, prepared for any surprise attacks.

Although Hei Feng wasn’t too powerful, there were certainly many who wanted her dead. It was better to be prepared for any eventuality.

The clone’s suspicions proved correct. Their secluded manor was frequently scanned by martial practitioners’ Divine Sense, and the number of individuals targeting them was steadily increasing.

However, the Divine Soul energy that had previously been probing them appeared only twice more.

That night, several hired assassins from the Stygian attempted to infiltrate, but they fell into the Illusory Array set by Lao Yuanfeng. The clone, draped in his Concealcape, eliminated them one by one. Each of his strikes was swift and precise, ensuring they didn’t stand a chance.

After Hei Feng finished her cultivation, she engaged the clone in conversation.

"Did you catch any?"

"Only seven. Their strength is too weak, and they didn’t have anything of value." Ye Liuyun replied, sounding somewhat disappointed.

"They were just testing the waters!" Hei Feng analyzed.

The clone’s Divine Sense detected that stronger individuals had yet to arrive, so he decided to pause his cultivation and began roasting some meat. Once it was ready, he handed a piece to Hei Feng.

"Why haven’t you killed me?" Hei Feng asked, seizing the opportunity.

"I’m curious about Stygian. I want to know whether they clean up their own assassins. Also, since the Sanctuary Dynasty tolerates their existence, I’m interested in understanding why." the clone explained.

"Because the Sanctuary Dynasty can’t find Stygian’s base!" Hei Feng remarked casually.

The clone shook his head. He didn’t believe that the Sanctuary Dynasty couldn’t find Stygian’s secret realm based on just a symbol. If it were that easy to locate, surely the Dynasty would have eradicated Stygian long ago, preventing their widespread presence.

"Any Stygian assassin can obtain the symbol, and with no Divine Soul contract restricting them, such a powerful Royal Management could easily find it. It’s strange that they haven’t."

Hei Feng fell silent, pondering. She had previously only considered how Stygian treated their own assassins. However, his words made her realize there was much more to consider.

Hearing Ye Liuyun’s words, Hei Feng also began to feel that something was indeed off.

At that moment, another martial practitioner fell into the formation outside, prompting the clone to act quickly and clear them out.

This martial practitioner was significantly stronger than the previous ones, and the clone’s ambush was detected.

In response, the clone gave up on using the Invisible Cloak and directly confronted the martial practitioner in a battle. He exhausted his genuine energy in the process and eventually devoured the martial practitioner’s Divine Soul.

The aftermath of their battle was absorbed by the formation, so it didn’t attract attention from those outside.

"Managed to take out someone strong!"

Hei Feng remarked when the clone returned. Before he could even sit down to rest, three more martial practitioners burst into the formation. The clone had no choice but to continue fighting.

"They’re wearing you down!" Hei Feng communicated through her divine sense.

The clone simply smiled and responded nonchalantly, "If they can truly wear me down, I’ll have to give them some credit!"

With Ye Liuyun and the clone’s Multipurpose Cauldron, it could convert ten times the required virtuoso energy at once. Additionally, with the supply of Storage Stones, it was impossible for these martial practitioners to deplete his reserves.
