The Devil Beastman Fox was observing Ye Liuyun intently and asking Tiger King what Ye Liuyun was doing.
Upon learning the concerns of some of Ye Liuyun’s soldiers, it promptly suggested that they had a type of herb that would boost their fertility and swore on its effectiveness.
Although the locals didn’t have much of a need for it due to their limited region, Ye Liuyun might utilise it to perpetuate the beastman race.
Finally, Ye Liuyun made his decision.
"Agree them, but tell them that when we leave, we will take away a substantial amount of these metal ores, the timber, and that herb they mentioned."
After the Tiger King relayed Ye Liuyun’s message, the Fox Devil Beastman joyfully agreed.
To them, these resources were ubiquitous.
They dwelt at the foot of a neighbouring hill, centred by a great mountain rich with copious black gold to be excavated. Ye Liuyun and Tiger King, with their army, embarked on a journey back to their base.
To make sure the agreement was enforced, they went through an elaborate process, which Ye Liuyun had never experienced or heard of before. He wasn’t sure if the ritual would restrict him in any way. However, he was fully compliant because he had no plans to back out on their contract.
After the contract ritual, they taught Ye Liuyun and his party the cultivation technique and guided them to mine the black gold.
It was only during extraction that Ye Liuyun realised they couldn’t mine the ores. The black gold was so hard that all they could do was gather scattered pieces.
Tiger King was ordered by Ye Liuyun to prepare the battle army for the mining expedition. However, the troops soon discovered that, although their weapons could be used for mining, they were severely worn out after thirty to fifty hits due to the high attrition rate.
Ye Liuyun hadn’t anticipated this situation before, so he gathered Purple Flame God and a few weapon-refining masters to brainstorm some ideas.
"Well, that’s simple. We can temper the extracted minerals to craft some mining tools first. Then, use these tools to mine."
"If the tools are made from the same minerals and with the added power of a Formation, they should pose no problem."
Such a minor inconvenience posed no issue to formidable master refiners like Purple Flame Divine Lord.
Ye Liuyun then ordered them to make refining equipment on the spot while he went to scout the Devil Clan’s lair situation with a group of reconnaissance soldiers, headed by the Devil Beastman fox.
The Devil Clan, a tribe of over five thousand, resided just outside this dense forest. Their physical stature was akin to that of the beastmen. Ye Liuyun thought the sole distinguishing feature was that they did not have any fur.
Their weapons were far from intricate, just standard forms of weaponry such as knives, spears, bows and arrows, shields, and maces, and they lacked diversity and armor.
Traditional blacksmithing methods, including the use of open fires, were still used by the seemingly indigenous communities.
Because their cultivation methods were similar to the Devil Beastmen, who did not cultivate their virtuosos or Divine Soul, they could only employ the natural flames in weapon refinement.
Upon grasping the situation, Ye Liuyun promptly retreated to the Devil beastman’s base.
Upon his return, the Devil Beastman Fox introduced a type of medicinal herb from the forest to Ye Liuyun and taught him how to create a medicinal juice from it. It was the juice for his team of beastmen to consume.
The Devil beastman Fox believed that with Ye Liuyun’s assistance, they could rapidly expand their territory and therefore would also need to increase their population.
Almost immediately, Ye Liuyun instructed his soldiers to gather the herb, making sure to uproot it in whole and then sent it into his clone’s Spatial World for relocation.
As for the forest’s giant tree, he temporarily refrained from disturbing it so as not to draw the attention of the Devil Clan outside.
Purple Flame God and the other weapon-refining masters easily created many mining tools, allowing the soldiers to continue mining while they proceeded with crafting tools and weapons.
Upon seeing their methods of tool refinement, the Devil Beastman Fox was truly impressed. He requested for Ye Liuyun to leave all the tools that they made upon Ye Liuyun’s departure. Ye Liuyun readily consented to his request.
"Where is the Devil Crystal’s mineral vein that you mentioned?" Ye Liuyun asked the Beastman Fox as he contemplated if it would be feasible for the soldiers to mine the Devil crystal veins first.
To Ye Liuyun’s surprise, he was fooled by the Beastman fox. The Devil Crystal mineral veins were under the control of the Devil clan.
Ye Liuyun didn’t expect that the beastman Fox would pull off such a cunning trick. Nonetheless, he paid it little mind. It was nothing more than lending them a hand. Besides, his troops were capable of wiping the Devil Beastman at any time.
The weapon-refining masters and Purple Flame God were swift to forge common tools. They did not need to refine the ores too finely, and within a few days, they had forged thousands of tools.
Thousands of soldiers took turns using the tools to mine the ore. It caused quite a stir and soon attracted the attention of the Devil Clan.
They dispatched a squad to look into it and discovered the presence of a plethora of smaller Beastmen. Because they believed they could easily intimidate them, they began to assault head-on.
A sudden barrage of arrows from Ye Liuyun’s army annihilated them all.
The Devil Beastmen promptly stole their weapons and consumed their corpses.
While the rest of the Beastmen scrambled to learn the new techniques to double their strengths, Ye Liuyun sent out the soldiers who were reluctant to transform into Devil Beast to patrol the place.
Ye Liuyun, together with his clone and Lei Ming, joined the team to learn the technique as well.
However, what he incorporated into his bloodline was the power of the Buddhist-Devil that could be inter converted.
After practicing this technique, his advanced energy, combined with the power of bloodline, would multiply when attacking.
Ye Liuyun discussed it with Purple Flame God, "The Devil Clan have already discovered our activities here. We need to act fast. I reckon more of them will come soon."
"On one hand, we need to mine more ores, also, we need tools for digging up tree roots. On the other hand, we also need to make our weapons. Our current weapons don’t have any advantage against the Devil Clan, we merely outnumbered them.”
So, the Purple Flame God divided the tasks among the few weapon-refining masters. Two of them were responsible for making weapons, while one made tools.
Ye Liuyun asked the Purple Flame God to first refine the weapons of those more than 500 half-beast demon soldiers. They needed many more weapons. Equipping them first would allow them to participate in battles.
Subsequently, they painstakingly perfected the weapons to be used by their own. For this reason, more than 500 rough weapons were produced in a short amount of time without any Formations to improve the assault strength.
Although rough, the weapons were, after all, products of the weapon-refining masters. The Devil Clan’s armaments paled in comparison to these over 500 weapons.
The Devil Beastman Fox was very satisfied and immediately led his team of Devil Beastmen to practice using the weapons.
Meanwhile, Purple Flame God returned to the Spatial World to forge weapons for Ye Liuyun’s team. They couldn’t make armor for now, so they focused on making weapons first.
Simultaneously, Ye Liuyun promptly organised for the uprooting of every giant tree in the deep forest and transplantation them into the Spatial world of his clone as soon as the equipment for doing so was manufactured.
Concurrently, a great deal of resources started to be amassed. Using the Xuan Kong Stone, his clone, and Lei Ming, he was also accelerating his cultivation progress.
