Chapter 2220: Chapter 2220 Capturing Guardians Alive

The old man was playing a traditional string instrument as the little girl sang in a velvety and melodious voice.

Perhaps due to their performance needs, neither of them carried any protective items against Divine Soul attacks.

"A musician and A singer!" Ye Liuyun recognised them as members of the Guardians of Nations.

He glanced with his Golden Phantom Eyes and noticed that the girl’s virtuoso was even more condensed compared to the old man.

Upon entering the place with Qiong Qi, he instantly used his Scarlet Phantom Eyes to cast an illusion on the little girl.

Amid the performance, the old man suddenly changed the tune with his instrument. At that moment, a burst of golden ray appeared inside Ye Liuyun’s Ocean of consciousness.

Ye Liuyun acted promptly and instantly grabbed his clone and Qiong Qi into his Spatial World.

"Too late!"

The elder grinned and asked, calmly, "What do you think about trading one for two?"

Instead of jumping into action, he calmly set down his instrument and cradled the little girl.

It appeared like an affectionately protective gesture, but upon closer inspection, Ye Liuyun discovered that he was guarding her from being manipulated by Ye Liuyun into attacking him.

Ye Liuyun was not bothered by his action as it posed no harm to him.

Ye Liuyun’s Divine Soul cast his Scarlet Phantom Eyes toward the old man again. However, the man showed no fear towards his attack.

Ye Liuyun looked around and saw that everyone in the tea house had slumped over the table as though they had fallen asleep.

At the same time, Qiong Qi and his clone were both listless within the Spatial world, unconscious.

Ye Liuyun immediately used the Universal God Token’s golden rays to awaken his clone and Qiong Qi after he took them into his Ocean of Consciousness.

"It’s a hypnosis technique!" Qiong Qi informed Ye Liuyun.

"What should we deal with it?" Ye Liuyun asked Qiong Qi.

"I don’t know!" Qiong Qi replied helplessly.

Ye Liuyun knew he couldn’t overcome him alone, and if he let someone else do it, they would also be hypnotised.

Therefore, Ye Liuyun had no choice but to face the old man himself.

"Your hypnosis technique is useless to me." Ye Liuyun stated.

"Your Scarlet Phantom Eyes aren’t effective against me either!" The old man responded calmly. "Your pet beast and your clone’s life, in exchange for my granddaughter’s. Isn’t it an advantage to you? I promise you that we will leave after the exchange! What do you say?"

"I need to see how you negate your hypnosis first!"

Ye Liuyun pretended to hesitate as he released his clone from his Spatial World.

His clone was pretending to be unconscious with his eyes were fixed on the old man.

"Hehehe!" The elderly man only grinned nonchalantly. "Throughout my life, I have seen a vast variety of individuals and travelled far and wide. Instead of skirting the issue, let’s sign an equality contract. That way, our trust will be established, won’t it?

"Alright!"

Ye Liuyun finally pretended to helplessly accept it.

Just as they were ready to make a soul contract, the old man felt a threat coming from the clone.

By the time he shifted his focus back to the clone, a black ray had already shot towards his soul. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

The clone seized the moment of his distraction to launch the black ray.

After Ye Liuyun destroyed the old man’s soul, he collected his body and his lute, then thoroughly implanted a Slaving Seal onto the little girl and took her into his Spatial World.

Through soul search, Ye Liuyun now understood why his Scarlet Phantom Eyes had been ineffective toward the old man.

The reason for this was that the elderly guy had hypnotised his own Divine Soul, making it impervious to any illusions tactics.

"The diversity of art forms in our world is mind-boggling," Ye Liuyun proclaimed.

"Master, could I use my grandfather’s instrument? I’ve studied the music too!" Ye Liuyun pondered and decided to give the lute to the girl.

However, Ye Liuyun didn’t feel comfortable doing so.

Despite her young age, she had been under her grandfather’s influence and was accustomed to killing from an early age, regarding life as expendable.

To her, not killing others meant being killed.

Him giving her the lute, might encourage her to kill more.

But Ye Liuyun learnt through the Slaving Seal that all the girl wanted was a memory of her grandpa. She bore no hatred towards Ye Liuyun. If Ye Liuyun could defeat her grandpa, she reasoned, he was much more formidable, and she would be better off following him.

He had murdered her grandfather and was now her master, so it was appropriate for him to console her.

"Thank you, Master!" The girl repeatedly expressed her gratitude.

She happened to be the first Guardian from the Revival Dynasty that Ye Liuyun managed to capture alive, and it was a little girl nonetheless!

Ye Liuyun was powerless to do anything else and shook his head. He wanted to explain, but no matter what he said, he wasn’t able to make her understand. Even if he did say anything, she might not comprehend.

He allowed the girl to follow him in the hope that she would discover that this world was more than just about killings.

However now he was also at war with the Revival Dynasty, and he had no idea what the girl may discover in the future.

Among the eight Guardians of the Nation, he had already killed three and captured one alive. Out of the four left, two of them were on the Foreign race battlefield.

The two Guardians that could come for him were difficult to be dealt with by others but to Ye Liuyun, they were nothing more than ordinary.

Tiger Head was an accomplished army leader, while the other, known as the Thousand Face, was a martial practitioner who was particularly proficient at the appearance-transformation method.

Hence, Ye Liuyun was not worried about their special skills.

He harboured a little suspicion that "Tiger Head" was Yuan Hao.

"Do you think the Revival Dynasty will dare take the risk and send more people here? They didn’t dare to send anyone to kill me now. They simply suspect that there is a powerful man around me." Ye Liuyun asked Qiong Qi.

"Who can say for sure? I don’t know Mo Xiaotian all that well. We’ll just have to wait and see!” Qiong Qi replied.

There was nothing Ye Liuyun did except continue his cultivation and wait.

Everything was going well for Liu Yang and Mo Shaowen. They made one trip back to present Ye Liuyun with over a thousand primary Ninth-level martial practitioners and more than six hundred advanced Ninth-level practitioners.

But the 20,000 individuals they had recruited before this were almost fully depleted. Under Ye Liuyun’s orders, Pei Yong dispatched another twenty thousand for each of them to advance westward together.

The captured martial practitioners were all handed over to Ye Tiandao and Yu Xiaofeng for distribution. Ye Tiandao kept three hundred and the rest were integrated into the main army troop.

Inside Inferno City, Mo Xiaotian decided to stop sending people to investigate Ye Liuyun’s news.

Revival Dynasty no longer sent his men to random cities to raise havoc. Both sides seemed to be at a standstill at this point.

It turned out Song An was right. A sixty-thousand-person army was progressively assembled by the Revival Dynasty while Ye Liuyun was busy suppressing bandits.

Not long after his large army was assembled, they started their attack. They didn’t attack Ye Liuyun’s large army directly, nor did they siege any city. They mainly focused on intercepting Liu Yang’s forces.

Xia Tianqiong informed Liu Yang of the whereabouts and progress of this sixty-thousand-strong army in time, thanks to the timely reports that he obtained from the intelligence network.
