Chapter 2213: Chapter 2213 Interception
With no way out of the formation, the praetorians had exhausted all of their resources.
Those who stuck around felt a growing sense of desperation as they witnessed more and more of their brethren fall.
Despite being without a leader, some of them rallied their comrades and got ready to charge headfirst into the conflict.
The praetorians who grouped together launched themselves at the protective shield of the Formation that was trapping them.
Meanwhile, Ye Liuyun’s white ray ruthlessly struck down more of them.
Soon, his clone’s advanced energy was drained and he didn’t have his Multipurpoose Cauldron with him.
Even though he had his Storage Stone with him, it wouldn’t be enough to replenish his advanced energy ever since he levelled up.
He knew he needed to conserve his advanced energy for the utmost crucial moment. Hence, he could only sit and watch the praetorians hammer away relentlessly at the protective shield.
The relentless assault made Ye Liuyun realise that the formation would eventually be breached at some point.
He alerted Ye Tiandao to brace himself for the upcoming battle and simultaneously sent a message to Xiao Yunfang to send out troops to intercept the Praetorian.
He advised her to form squads of armies with ten thousand men in every squad. She would then dispatch the squads in batches to Inferno City to intercept the fleeing praetorians. The city’s defences were placed under Yu Xiaofeng’s command.
Out of nowhere, an explosion tore the earth beneath the praetorians who had assembled to assault the shield.
Even Ye Liuyun had no idea that Qiong Qi had later added some prolongations and a few other settings to the Formation.
Evidently, Qiong Qi had prepared a particular offensive trap here since he expected them to join effort and attack the shield.
When this crystal detonated, nearly a hundred praetorians were killed instantly.
As the other praetorians tried to flee, explosions continued to erupt all around them, sending them hurling through the air in a cloud of gore.
Ye Liuyun felt a twinge of sadness as he witnessed the deaths of many praetorians before him.
But he didn’t have any other choice. If they broke through the Formation too early, it would cause huge losses to the incoming Blade Legion.
At this point, his only option was to collect as many bodies and hostages as he could.
There was complete mayhem within the Formation. While some praetorians fought for their lives in isolation, others banded together to breach the Formation’s shield. They were completely unaware of his presence.
Suddenly, Qiong Qi sent a message to Ye Liuyun, "The battle Formation can only hold on for another half hour! The energy is draining from withstanding the attack from inside!"
Qiong Qi said with a bit of regret.
"That’s enough! I’ll take care of the rest!"
Ye Liuyun responded without any hint of regret. The result had far exceeded his expectations.
Even though Qiong Qi was usually nonchalant in his words, Ye Liuyun was confident in his capability to handle tasks.
After enduring a round of explosions, the Fpraetorians regrouped and relentlessly attacked the shield.
After all, if they failed to break the Formation, they would all perish within it.
Not much later, the Formation’s protecting shield began to thin. However, the number of praetorians also decreased significantly.
There were barely any stray soldiers left. The majority of them were grouped to attack the Formation.
Gradually, their coordination improved to the point where some fought off the attacks from the Formation while others were pounding the Formation with all their might.
"The Formation is about to be broken, I will give them one last surprise!" Qiong Qi communicated to Ye Liuyun.
"Sure!"
Ye Liuyun agreed and notified Ye Tiandao.
"We’re about to breach it! Let’s push harder!"
At this time, some of the praetorians noticed that the formation couldn’t hold on much longer.
The protective shield had begun to flicker intermittently.
Just as they saw a glimmer of hope, suddenly, all the energy inside the Formation converged towards them. The energy then transformed into a hefty punch, blasting towards them.
The praetorians stationed in the centre didn’t have time to run, they were engulfed instantly by a burst of a white ray.
The Formation consequently disappeared just as the shield was broken.
Ye Liuyun unleashed the Blade Legion who formed a three-sided encirclement, and launched an attack as these startled praetorians regained their composure.
The Praetorians instantly fled the Formation since they were already worn out and lacked the spirit to battle.
Concealing themself, Ye Liuyun and his clone approached closer and started to collect the wounded praetorians.
When the Formation was shattered, over three thousand praetorians had escaped. However, they were immediately attacked by the Blade Legion. There were only around two thousand of them who managed to break free and fled
Ye Tiandao left behind three thousand of his men to surround the one thousand praetorians and took the remaining seven thousand in their pursuit.
Ye Liuyun handed the current tasks to his clone and followed Ye Tiandao’s main army in the pursuit.
Through the soul contract, Mo Xiaotian, who had been expecting positive news, finally learned about the praetorians’ dire situation.
He couldn’t ignore his praetorian troops, despite his constant criticisms of Ye Liu Yun’s force. He had commanded them to flee since he couldn’t let them fall into Ye Liuyun’s grips.
To prevent the Blade Legion from pursuing, he controlled the fleeing Praetorians. He allocated two to three hundred troops behind to block Ye Liuyun’s troops and buy time for the rest to flee.
After running for several days, there were only just over a thousand praetorians left, and each of them was nearly out of genuine energy
At this point, they encountered a ten-thousand-strong intercepting army.
Under Mo Xiaotian’s control, they couldn’t surrender. They could only keep on fighting desperately, forcing a bloody path.
However, only a little over three hundred praetorians managed to escape this time. Many were killed or captured due to exhaustion.
Ye Tiandao relentlessly pursued the remainder, and these three hundred soldiers ran for another half a day. When they tried to catch a breather, they encountered another ten-thousand-strong squad blocking their path.
Mo Xiaotian knew that it was utterly over for them and decided not to intervene any longer.
The moment these soldiers disconnected from Mo Xiaotian’s control, they immediately surrendered. Otherwise, they would have to continue fighting until they died from exhaustion or were captured.
Ye Liuyun once again annihilated the praetorians.
Once again, the Revival Dynasty met its fatal fate, with its ten thousand Fpraetorians completely wiped out.
Furthermore, Ye Liuyun’s army, wary of the praetorian’s combat power, no longer underestimated them.
After handing over the captives to Ye Liuyun, Ye Tiandao and the interception squad returned to guard the three neighbouring cities.
More than 3,600 Praetorians were taken prisoner in this combat. But it took time for the majority of these troops to recuperate from their terrible injuries.
Ye Liuyun brought them all back to Inferno City. He then arranged for them to rest and recuperate.
Upon Ye Liuyun’s return to Inferno City, the first thing he did was to thank Qiong Qi. He treated his disciples to a hearty barbecue feast. Then, he gifted Qiong Qi with a considerable amount of Spirit Crystals as his fee to set up defensive formations.
In the meantime, Song An and Ye Liuyun were discussing the next course of action for their troops.
Liu Yang and Mo Shaowen were also engaged in a massive battle with the praetorians of the Revival Dynasty.
Considering the limited number of the praetorians, they used their captured martial practitioners to battle it out authentically with the praetorians. While their losses were extensive, they eventually managed to shatter the praetorian’s onslaught.
Therefore, both Ye Liuyun and Song An believed they could motivate the army to advance further. They were curious to see how the Revival Dynasty would react.
With this, Ye Liuyun encouraged their armies to advance further. However, they had to be prepared for a possible retreat at any time. Also, they shouldn’t station heavy troops to guard the city. If they encountered a counterattack, they were to retreat immediately to the current base.
