Not long after, Xenocide and Vespera reported back that they had discovered an ambush set by the Eastern Royal Management’s praetorian on both mountainsides, with roughly ten thousand troops on each side.
The praetorians were stationed within the cave after hollowing out the mountains. After Xenocide and Vespera picked up on their scent and heard their ruckus, they eventually located them.
Not only that, the praetorian had dug many special stone rooms, equipped with unique weapons. It was the Alora Crystal cannons that were dislodged from the warship.
This was akin to creating a stationary warship. Each stone room was filled with a huge amount of Alora Crystals. It was to be used to ambush the Dark Legion.
After a while, Vespera and Xenocide had scouted the condition in the mountains from every angle. There were Forty thousand Praetorians laid out front on four symmetrical sides, with ten thousand in each direction, ready to launch an ambush from all sides.
"Keep exploring, reach out to the surrounding cities, and find out if any other strategies are in place." Ye Liuyun instructed, directing them to keep scouting further and further out.
"The Eastern Royal Management is going all out this time! We’re going get a massive fortune!"
Ye Liuyun, looking at the enormous Octa Formation drawing before him, couldn’t help but laugh. Each explosion point was stacked with a large amount of Alora Crystal serving as the fuel for detonation.
If he could loot all of these Crystals, he’d make a substantial profit.
Immediately, Ye Liuyun began discussing with Devil Vine about how they should collect these crystals.
As for the Alora Crystals inside the stone rooms on the mountain, it was a hassle for the Devil Vine to enter. Ye Liuyun, after pondering over it, decided to use poison.
The caves dug out by the praetorian were pretty enclosed. Hence, using poison was the quickest and most effective method.
Ye Liuyun then asked Liu Xing to study the method of breaking the Octa Formation.
"Is there a way to break this Octa Formation without being detected by others?" Ye Liuyun asked.
Liu Xing thought for a moment before telling Ye Liuyun, "It’s not easy to break this Octa Formation because every part of the formation is interconnected. Even if some parts of the connection are cut off, it won’t affect its overall operation."
"Even if we attempt to break the formation, there are too many nodes we need to destroy. To collapse the Formation, we have to break at least eighty-four of its nodes."
"Unless we can find where the main node is buried before its activation. Once activated, finding the main node will be of no use."
"Can you use your Divine Sense to check the situation and suggest a possible spot where they would place the main node?" Ye Liuyun asked Liu Xing to probe the condition within the city using his Divine sense.
Since Ye Liuyun had asked about the Octa Formation in advance, he instantly realized that they were in the middle of the Formation just by looking at the setup of the tents outside.
"Is the tent set up outside one of the nodes of the Octa Formation?" Liu Xing asked Ye Liuyun.
"Correct. And they buried sulfur gunpowder and a large amount of energy source beneath each tent. Aiming to blast us all to pieces!" Ye Liuyun affirmed.
His purpose in telling Liu Xing was to ensure he would not slack off.
"Huh?" Liu Xing was startled.
He took another glance at the Octa Formation in front of him and recoiled in fear.
"Such a vast range may blow hundreds of thousands of people to ashes," he exclaimed.
Ye Liuyun chuckled as he replied, "I don’t know about the others, but we’re definitely doomed!"
Upon hearing these words, Liu Xing immediately started searching for the main node.
After pondering for a long while, he suddenly told Ye Liuyun, "The main node should be located at the City Lord’s Manor!"
"Think it through! If we can’t neutralize the main node by then, we’ll be blown sky-high together!" Ye Liuyun warned him.
"I’ll reevaluate it one more time to make sure!" Liu Xing started evaluating the Formation blueprint on the ground, identifying more than a dozen possible locations for placing the main node.
Occasionally, he sent out his Divine Sense to inspect the vicinity to ascertain the terrain.
Finally, he told Ye Liuyun, “I still believe the best spot to set up the main node is in the City Lord’s Manor!”
"Let’s go and look for it! I think they let us live in the City Lord’s Manor because the main node must have been done prior to our arrival and waiting to be linked to the Formation. Perhaps there’s a chance for us to find it!"
Ye Liuyun immediately began exploring the City Lord’s Manor with Liu Xing and Li Xingrou.
They were not permitted to go out, but they could wander within the City Lord’s Manor.
However, when they reached the Library Pavilion in the back courtyard, they were halted from entering. The experts and guards of the City Lord’s Manor had gathered there to prevent anyone from entering and causing disturbances.
Ye Liuyun just activated his Golden Phantom Eyes to peek within the LIbrary Pavillion. He could see the whole first floor and the basement of the Pavilion were almost filled up with Spirit crystals.
He escorted Li Xingrou and Liu Xinging back to their residence without causing a scene, and he told Liu Xing what he had just witnessed.
"That settles it then, it should be there. Only the main node of such a large formation would require so much energy to activate!"
Li Xingrou, who had been listening all along, finally interjected, "D*mn it, these troops dare to blow up this princess!"
Ye Liuyun disdainfully responded, "The one who wants to blow you up shouldn’t be the Commander, but rather the Eastern Royal Management. Don’t you think so? How could a mere Commander pull together so many resources for such a large operation?"
Li Xingrou fell into silence hearing his logic. Ye Liuyun and Liu Xing cast a sympathetic glance at her. The Eastern Royal Management had clearly abandoned her.
They did not inform Li Xingrou of their plan to avoid being suspected by the Northsky Sect. Hence, they chose to abandon her.
She took out a Sound Transmission Talisman, to ask the Eastern Sea King about it, but Ye Liuyun stopped her, "If you ask, we’ll be exposed!
"Your father has spent so much effort and massive planning, and we stumbled upon it. He would certainly have the army surround us and kill us to silence us. That would be too unjust!"
"Anyway, with me around, I promise to keep you alive. What are you afraid of? If you want to ask questions, you can ask them later. Certain truths are best understood after you have personally experienced them."
Li Xingrou thought about it too. Since she wouldn’t die, it made no difference whether she asked the questions now or later. She was curious to see what the Eastern Royal Management would end up doing with her.
To prevent the information from leaking, Ye Liuyun gave Li Xingrou instructions to bring Mr. Yu Jian over covertly and without anyone else knowing.
As soon as Mr. Yu Jian arrived, Ye Liuyun briefed him on the situation.
Mr. Yu Jian was naturally shocked and became indecisive.
Ye Liuyun told Mr. Yu Jian, "From now on, you will focus solely on whether any Formation masters approach the City Lord’s mansion’s library! You won’t have to care about any other matters, leave it to the other elders."

"But what if we cannot stop them from activating the Main node ..." Mr. Yu Jian asked worriedly.

Because of how serious the matter was, Ye Liuyun signed a soul contract with Li Xingrou and Liu Xing just to be safe. But this contract was exclusive to this issue and would automatically become voided after the event
