After Li Jian took Ye Liuyun into the Northsky Sect, he also took Ye Liuyun around for a tour.
Along the way, they coincidentally bumped into Gong Wanting.
There was another young lady with Gong Wanting, who also looked pretty charming. From her dress and appearance, she didn’t seem to be an ordinary woman.
Ye Liuyun could sense that Li Jian became a bit nervous when he saw her.
"What’s wrong?"
Li Jian didn’t dare to answer directly but conveyed to Ye Liuyun through telepathy, "Li Xingrou! She belongs to the first sacred disciple Murong Tian. Be careful and avoid her in the future, don’t cross her path. This woman is ruthless..."
"Mr. Jian!" Before he could finish speaking, Li Xingrou called out to him.
"Princess Xingrou, you look very beautiful today!" Li Jian immediately welcomed her with a face full of smiles.
"Princess?" Ye Liuyun was surprised, "Could she be a princess from the Eastern Sea Royal Management?"
Li Xingrou laughingly responded to his compliment, "Was I not beautiful before?"
"Haha, Princess Xingrou gets more beautiful each and every day!" Li Jian immediately flattered her.
"You sure know how to sweet talk! Tian is organizing a gathering for the sacred disciples in a few days, make sure I’ll see you there!”
"Of course! I will definitely be there for him!" Li Jian promptly agreed, not showing any distaste towards Li Xingrou in his response.
Ye Liuyun suppressed the urge to brand Li Xingrou with a Slaving Seal and stood quietly by the side.
Having just arrived at the Sect, he did not dare to act rashly without knowing the situation here.
Gong Wanting merely greeted Li Jian briefly. Ever since their previous adventure, she had intentionally distanced herself from him.
Only after Li Xingrou took Gong Wanting away did Ye Liuyun start to inquire about her background.
As expected, Li Xingrou was a princess of the Eastern Sea, and Murong Tian was a branch disciple of the Murong family in the Alliance of Merchants.
Although his background in the Alliance wasn’t top-notch, through diligent cultivation, he had gained not only the title of the first sacred disciple of Northsky Sect but also a significant status and recognition from his family.
Thus, given their match in status and talents, they made a well-suited pair.
"They’re nothing but a conniving pair, scheming and malicious. They think every day about how to control the disciples here. The entire Sect is about to fall under their control!"
Li Jian also introduced the other sacred disciples to Ye Liuyun. They were among the most powerful individuals within the disciples of the Sect.
"Among the ten holy sons, only the strongest, Murong Tian, and the second strongest, Feng Chen, are the truly powerful ones. The rest are just average.
Someone like me basically got the position through flattery. There are indeed many more disciples in the Sect better than me, but most of them follow Murong Tian’s lead and no one competes with me."
"What are their levels of strength?"
"Murong Tian’s a late-sixth-realm, and Feng Chen mid-sixth."
Ye Liuyun was relieved to learn that their cultivation levels weren’t too high.
"Are there any disciples in the Sect at the seventh realm?" he asked.
Li Jian shook his head. "Definitely not. Those who reach the seventh realm leave the sect. Some would go to the foreign race battle for experience. When they come back, they can become elders in the sect."
Li Jian shared this information as he led Ye Liuyun to Sword Elder’s residence.
He was the one to arrange all the affairs of Ye Liuyun joining the Sect.
Not knowing that Chen Feng was a disguise by Ye Liuyun, his attitude towards him was rather cold. He didn’t give him any explanation and just brought him away.
However, the tasks Ye Liuyun ordered him to do were absolutely necessary to carry out.
Luckily, Li Jian was there to explain to Ye Liuyun at any time.
"You’re probably being taken for the initiation test!"
He took Ye Liuyun to the disciple registration area, and found the elder responsible for examinations.
The elder, with fully silver hair, was dozing off on a lounger.
"Mao, I brought the guy!" He shouted as he entered.
It awoke the elder, who then almost rolled off of his lounger in surprise.
"What’s with the shouting? I’m not deaf yet!"
The elder patted his chest to calm himself before he got up from his lounger.
Still drowsy, he glanced at the people who entered. His gaze finally landed on Ye Liuyun, "So this is the disciple you insist on recruiting?"
"Yes, he must be accepted as an inner sect disciple!" He demanded assertively.
"He still needs to pass the test, though!"
"That’s not a problem!"
"Alright, alright, leave it to me. Go back and wait for the news! Your attitude irritates me!" Mao waved his hand dismissively to send him away.
"Okay. Let Li Jian accompany him, I’m heading back!"
Only then did he pay attention to Li Jian, "When did you start hanging out with this old guy?"
Li Jian first gave a bow to the him, "Elder Mao!"
"I don’t have such ability to be favoured! I’m merely in good terms with this good friend of mine, and I simply tagged along, that’s how I ended up here!"
He made an introduction as soon as he finished speaking. "This is Mao Hongyin, the elder in charge of the assessments! Elder Mao, this is my friend Chen Feng!"
"It’s an honour to meet you!" Ye Liuyun also quickly greeted in the name of Chen Feng.
Mao Hongyin, on the other hand, amiably joked with him, "Not bad, for the sake of the Sword Elder, I can’t help but to give you a place as a service disciple!
Whether you can enter the inner gate or not depends on your own strength! I won’t break the rules just because of that old man!"
"Yes, I understand!"
Mao Hongyin nodded in satisfaction, "Your attitude is quite good, we’ll just have to take a look at your strength. Let me explain the test to you first!"
This test was added temporarily and not the regular enrolment test, so only Ye Liuyun was taking it alone, making it one of the hardest tests among the Sect.
It consisted of five stages - the first one was a bloodline test. The Sect would deem a disciple worthless of cultivation if the bloodline is too weak. The second stage was a physical test, applying pressure to the body through formations to see if the disciple’s body was strong enough.
Third, a strength test which required combat. The fourth a soul power test, requiring to pass the test of an Illusory Array.
The last test was the special one, challenging their overall qualities. The disciples were required to survive in a special secret realm for ten days to be fully qualified.
After Mao Hongyin finished explaining, Li Jian exclaimed, "Isn’t this the same test as the selection of sacred disciples?"
"Exactly! What did you think, the sect will come up with many fancy ways to test their disciples? We don’t have the time!" Mao Hongyin retorted dismissively.
